  1. Came off my vespa this morning, wearing my okinawas and slided some meters on a wet road. After checking my scooter which was ok apart from a huge scratch on the sidepanel I took a closer look at my jeans and all what happened were some nice fades on my left thigt and a white knee, the denim is absolutely unhurt apart from this weird fades on my left leg.As I just moved last weekend and the bloody digicam is in some of the still 20 unpacked boxes(which my wife packed and she hasnt got a clue in which one the camera could be) I have to wait until it appears.

Well, all I want to say is that sugarcane denim is tough as nails and my okis are a bit special now.

  2. I would have used the "this or that" thread, but I feel a lot of people have this question as well:

so I've got a budget of $250, am I better off getting the red wing iron rangers or the gentleman travelers? I like the look each provides, but I'm looking for a nice everyday boot that I can wear year-long, maybe even sneak a few days in super steamy boston summers. what are the differences between the two and which one would you guys recommend?

    I also like these a lot http://www.shermanbrothers.com/product.php?ItemId=5899&ProductId=9822

but I feel the IR's/GT's have a more versatile look to them. what do you think?

I wear the GT every day,its a great boot with a very classy look and fitwise some of the most comfortable I ever had, even though some people had problems here.

I had a look at the Ironworker and tried them on,they even felt more comfy because of the cork(?)sole, when you compare them, the GTsole is more stiff, they prob. last longer.RedWing had some quality problems with the GT, I recommend to have a look and try before you buy.So its really up to you, both boots are very nice ,I think its more a personal preference, I just could not justify myself to spend the same amount after owning the GT.

  3. Seconded.Even though I bought my last stf a decade ago,i can confirm that they shrank up to 4" in the inseam, i just followed what the papertag said,2 sizes bigger in the waist and 3 in lenght.Back than it worked, but in those days i knew nothing about raw denim, always bought a 34X38,threw them in the washingmachine, with detegent at 60°C,and hey presto! I would say that stf shrink more than most of the LVC stuff I own - some didnt shrink at all.

  4. if i wear my jeans about 1inch below my belly button instead of 6 its fine for the legs... just feels odd and i can still fit a finger in between ...........

Why dont you just put them in hot water? They are raw and will shrink a good amount overall.Dont worry about the waist, it will stretch back.

  5. im almost same hight/heavy as cheep..??????????????????????????

And if you read a few pages back, you will see that cheep is wearing a W 32"

Matching height and weight doesnt mean that your proportions are the same...

  6. there is no way i could fit in a 28 and if you go by self edge measurements these 30 are in fact 29 also states ...........

These jeans are made of one-washed unsanforized denim, when washed the denim will not shrink in the waist or length. Please keep this in mind when choosing your size. The denim will also stretch in the waist up to 1.5" after approximately 30 wears.

also if i turn them up they look like the pic in self edge also......... so no point in soaking i just don't like wearing my jeans up to my nipples!!

Chambo, I reckon you got them at atticclothing, they are def. raw.

Give them a hot soak, the waist will stretch back. My Okinawa W32 measures 33" after I soaked them twice.

  7. Can someone tell me how much the shrink/stretch on a pair of raw Okinawas is?

edit: Sorry, how much will they shrink with a warm soak? How long did you soak yours?

    I did two soaks,hottest tabwater (ca. 60°C ), about 1 hour,airdry.

Its a sz. 32 and measures now 33" in the waist and 34,5" inseam. They where a bit snug at the waist first, but streched pretty fast. I reckon with more heat, longer soak and a dryer you will get more shrinkage - compared with the onewash

    measurements at BIG and Selfedge.

  8. And you shouldnt trust fitpics, how long you are standing in front of a mirror? Your body always move, i judge my jeans how they fit and feel on me.My Okinawas have a huge hipflare when i stand in front of a mirror, but they are so comfortable and wearing them feels just right.

  9. There isnt really to see that much,as being a welder i cannot wear denim at work, that would destroy them in a couple of days, but i will try my best and load up some pics as soon as time allows. But if you like suspender buttons, antifit seat and 9 ounce denim the 1901 is your choice.

  10. Hi Tekrah,my 1901 Sz.32 were tight aswell ( being a true 32 ),did a lukewarm soak, and they didnt shrink at all,but are very comfortable now. When i got them i was a bit disappointed, they felt so flimsy and the stitching was off in some places, and the denim that goes into the front left pocket is really short,so you see the white lining every time when sitting down.Apart from that they are my first choice summerjeans, they looking much better now after wearing them for 5 months.

  11. I prefer insoles in all my shoes,i believe they protect the footbed of wear and sweat.

Have a pair of 1907,they came with a cushioned rw-insole bult felt a bit too tight, replaced them with a thin leather-only insole- perfect!

I am using the rw-soles in my 8138, which came without any and were too large,it does the trick an they are really comfortable now. Both are size 9.5 though.

  12. Well,Nudie didnt get me into raw denim,I used to wear nothing but 501´s STF since 1985, when Levis had this "Bath" TV commercial, that did it for me.At that time I wasnt aware of 29" shuttlelooms or hidden rivets etc.,but liked the idea of shrink-to-fit and realized that those jeans looked much nicer than the normal stonewashed,or- much worse -acid or moonwashed jeans ( but I think that was later, around ´88-´90 ).Anyway,it was summer 2005, I was in need of another 501 and couldnt find any, went into a shop that just new opened, they had Nudies RRDS with this nice box, tried them on and handed over €130.I never paid that much before for a pair of jeans, but they looked and felt so great, I coulndt resist.Than I searched the internet and discovered superfuture, which i liked more and more.Since then I paid more than €130 for denim, my wife is wearing my RRDS ( with big cuffs! ) and I am looking forward for the Dry Bones Contest!

  13. Not as silly as € 699,- for a pair of some predistressed japanese jeans that the salesperson showed me as I asked for other japanese brands they carry. He couldnt tell me the brand,it had a clothpatch that was washed out, no name on the tag inside, but he said they are "absolutely unique" and "handwashed"?? I never saw that kind of jeans on this board nor somewhere else, I am sure there are "unique". I slowly left the shop.

  14. Hi Braidkid, I own some sort of B3 jacket of unknown origin, must be well over 20 years old, and I cannot compare it with your piece of history or a any of the proper repros you see on this board. Its a great jacket, esp. when riding my Vespa during the colder months. It gave me good protection when I crashed once and was also in need of some repair after that which I done myself. Now the threads are old and worn and I have to replace them regulary.I see it like Cotton Duck, selfrepairing adds character and after you get used to that heavy leather I am sure you will see some pleasing results.
