  1. Hey, I'm trying to upload the photos on here, but it keeps giving me error messages. I've tried resizing, posting through my computer and through photobucket. I've posted photos on here before without any problem. Anyone know what's going on? Are the attachments down or something?

  2. Very basic website here: http://thewasteland.com/. The phone number is on there. You would want the LA store (located on melrose). I'm not sure if they do phone orders or not. Wasteland is primarily a vintage/designer recycle shop, although they sometimes get in shipments of new designer stuff, as appears to be the case with the unholy matrimony stuff. The nice thing about them is their prices are very, very reasonable. That place has been a goldmine for me.

And yes, I was there this saturday. Wasteland should still have a decent selection of stuff.

For the fun of it, I think I'll post some pictures on here later tonight of the very limited unholy matrimony collection I've managed to procure.

  3. Is blackbird a shop in washington? I haven't heard of it. I know that the Hollywood Trading Company in Santa Monica sometimes carries it, although they only have a few pieces usually. Maxfield in LA used to have it. Other than that, I think that's it for LA. I've seen very limited quantities of it pop up in tokyo too, usually at united arrows.

Wasteland has unholy matrimony shirts for only $28, new with tags. They had maybe 10 when I was there on saturday. They also had a couple really cool button down hooded sweatshirts. They have raw seems, no pockets on the outside and a bunch sewn on the inside. There only had two: one black, one white. I got the black one but the white one's still there. I think it was around $50 or so. The prices are defnitely enticing.

Hintmag did carry unholy matrimony in the past, although I think that is no longer. I don't know of any other websites that carry anything by Brett Westfall. I'm especially interested in seeing more of his outerwear. Pretty much all anybody has are his shirts (which are admittedly cool).

  4. I did some searching around, and it doesn't look like anyone has talked specfiically about this label. Might as well make a thread about it I guess.

Unholy Matrimony is done by LA-based artist/designer Brett Westfall, usually with handmade washes in pretty limited quantities. Only a few places in LA stock it, usually with only one or two items at a time. It's kind of unfortunate, because I would love to get my hands on some more of his pieces. I happened across wasteland in LA, who for some reason have a ton of his t-shirts pretty cheap. I managed to pick up a couple, except they have mostly smalls and larges (I'm usually a medium).

Anyone else into unholy matrimony here? Share your stories, etc. Any more info on the brand and getting ahold of pieces besides t-shirts would be cool.

I was trying to post some photos on here but was having trouble uploading them for some reason. You can check his website out at http://k-artmarket.com/BRETTO-TOP.html for more info though.

  5. I think mihara yasuhiro is one of the more underrated japanese designers. His stuff has consistently been very creative on the avant-garde tip. Don't look for the lame collaboration with puma. His mainline is much better.

I think he started out as a shoemaker primarily, then slowly got into fashion. I can't speak for most of his collections, but I remember a while back he did a bunch of stuff with burn holes in them, like t-shirts and jeans with the edges burnt off instead of cut.

  6. That show is going to be history in the making. If I was anywhere in the NYC vacinity I would definitely be there. Hisham from black dice/soft circle is doing a lot of the musical direction for the show. Some of the other drummers are coming from sunburned hand of the man and various NYC avant garde projects. Definitely worth the price of admission.

  7. I went to Ooga Booga a few weeks ago. They have an amazing selection of limited art books and records. As far as Bless goes, it's pretty much exactly what they have on their website. Prices are of course high, but the selection is better than South Willard.

  8. I heard APC's near Melrose, although I haven't been out there yet. Barney's on Wilshire carries APC, as does CO-OP (at least the one in Costa Mesa does). I don't think American Rag has APC, but you can try South Willard on 3rd street.

  9. Wool can be listed a couple of ways on Japanese tags. I'm not sure exactly how it's done, but it usually looks something like this: 毛製, pronounced "mousei". That first character, 毛, means hair, which is why there could be confusion in the translation. You can also see it sometimes as ウール, which is katakana for wool.

  10. A few of the non-hiphop variety:

    Smokin by Super Furry Animals

    Puffy Cloud by Ween

Stranger in Blue Suede Shoes by Kevin Ayers (original bass player of soft machine)

There are like a billion reggae songs about weed too.

  11. I've got one of the standard silver chifre rouges. I love the watch, but recently during vacation the bank somehow got bent. I have no idea how this happened since I was just walking around wearing it. Now if I bend my wrist too far it'll pop open. It's kind of a pain in the ass, because now I have to see about getting the band replaced.

I'm very much into the design of the dior watches, but the chanel might have better quality overall.

  12. I think you're referring to Sawtele. It's the street where the Giant Robot stores are located, amongst various japanese markets, restaurants, karaoke places, etc. It's pretty close to UCLA, which is between west hollywood and santa monica.

  13. That looks like a pretty decent quality bootleg. I agree with Chris about the tags. At the top where it lists the years, the seaon the piece came from is usually highlighted also.

  14. I've only handled the Kim Jones Umbros, but I had some Common Projects high tops for a while. The quality was good, but I found the cut very uncomfortable. I was never able to break them in and got some nasty blisters. I ended up selling them off on ebay because I couldn't take it. Go with what's more comfortable.

  15. Boring in a good way... I like that.

I saw them at aruthurfest in LA a while back. They played like 4 notes very loudly for about 20 minutes. The power was periodically cutting out. They got mad and threw their amps off the stage toward the audience, then left.

    It was totally awesome.
