  1. One of the best shows I've been to. They played at a small trashy downtown LA club called the smell a few years back. They set up in the middle of the audience and just let loose. They had huge amps and the drummer would jump off the top onto his drums, keeping the beat. Can't beat the masks too.

  2. I forget if he produces his own line of shoes, but he's been doing a line with puma for a while. You probably saw that. His puma line is called 96 hours. You can check out the website at www.96hours.com to see if that's what you're talking about. It also has a list of stockists. You may want to check yoox for it too.

  3. watched a few eps of him before, a funny man he is

heard he was a professional wrestler before?

Actually, he was a comedian first, wrestler second. I think he got into the wrestling thing after he assumed the hard gay identity. Good stuff.

  4. ^^ I disagree slightly. There were some pretty cool designers that were going at that time: 20471120, PPCM, beauty:beast (who were a bit bigger then), general research, etc. I think you had a lot more creativity in designs around that time. These days its a lot of blacks and swarovski crystals.

Japanese fashion is by nature pretty derivative. You've had designers copying eachother, the Americans and Europeans for years. What makes it interesting is that they usually put their own spin on it, eventually mutating it into something completely different. Compared to most other countries, I would still say the japanese are far ahead of the game.

As for annoying Japanese brands, my 5 for what it's worth:

    1. evisu

    2. fat - horrible cuts, poor quality, high prices

    3. montage - same reason

    4. dress camp - super expensive, very gaudy

    5. on board - the lowest on the marui totem pole, they rip off the other higher-end marui designers

  5. not in LA but i remember seeing a few undercover t's at carve in the Lab in costa mesa. i didn't really get a good look at selection or prices as i was just in and out real quick beceause i can't stand the people there.

When did you see Undercover at carve? Was that recently? I live right by there and haven't seen any undercover. At one point in time they stocked lad musician (and have some visvim now), but not undercover.

  6. Far as I know, the only place that stocks undercover is Maxfield. The markup is ridiculous too, it's pretty much double the Japanese price. You can occasionally find some undercover at Maxfield Bleu down the street. The prices are more reasonable, but it tends to be picked over with only the larger sizes available.

I'd love to know if anyone else in LA stocks undercover though...

  7. Those have been passed around a bunch. I originally sold them on ebay. I don't think the various owners have ever really worn them though (myself included). I can definitely attest to the quality. The chances to find a nice pair of suminando's at that price are few and far between. Someone give them a good home!

  8. Another common situation is if you have a rare item that's in demand. I don't know if it's still the case, but for a while BAPE stuff was fetching prices far above retail on ebay. I'm guilty of picking up some art books and selling them on ebay for a pretty good profit. It all depends on what people want.

That said, paying more than retail for something readily available probably isn't the best of ideas.
