  1. Thanks kenmon i didnt realize film should be kept cold.. im learning by doing. i never took classes on it. =\

will refrigerate my film from now on - im all for quality

edit: would rep you if i could...

refrigeration/freezing slows down the breakdown of emulsion, its the opposite of keeping it in a hot car for instance

if you are keeping them in the original canisters, you dont have to worry about condensation too much

  2. Last time i was in my local camera shop i saw they had a refrigerated case of "professional" film.. what is different about this film? why is it refrigerated? lol does it just have super intense colors? thanks

all film should be refridgerated at the store preferably

the diff between pro films and consumer films (not really so strict anymore) is that pro films have an emulsion that is ready to be used in the near future, while the consumer film's emulsion is formulated to be sitting on shelves for a while

i freeze all my film, i buy lots at a time and even though it goes quick, there is no reason not to freeze really.

kodiak - not meant to single you out, just came into the thread and your pics were last up

likewise, Epoc - no, just no.

  3. sigma's are known to back/front focus on canon mounts...

the 50/1.4 is a great lens either way, very sharp at f2 and up

yeahh.... thats kinda why i mentioned it.

and when i was using one there were no probs on any of my bodies, and there are other satisfied people as well.

and if you are talking about the canon 1.4 in the 2nd part of your post, whats the point of buying a 1.4 lens that needs to be stopped down ? and in terms of build, focus motor etc, it sucks.

  4. For anyone interested in non-skid braking, I'm selling some pretty sharp barely used (~20 miles) carbon fiber Campagnolo brake levers and Tektro R750 calipers on ebay (click on pic):

just FYI for potential buyers, the calipers arent real CF, just metal covered in a sticker.

wolves - what kinda pb gun, just curious.

i used to be so into that shit

    monkey nuts - .223 isnt big :/

  5. ^ yea, sigma is that much better then a canon? kinda hard to believe

so far they are saying it is better than the 1.4 and close the 1.2

there are some reports of focus problems, but its most likely bad technique on the part of the users.

the copy i played with for a bit was niceee

  6. Buy his shit, lens is amazing.

I just got a Canon 50mm f/1.4 and it cost me 430 bucks.. sigh

you suck, you coulda gotten a siggy for that price, and for the most part they are worlds better

  7. budget is under around 300-500.. i know I can just save some more and get a hasselblad but I want to start somewhere else.. i shoot a lot of random street stuff, people, etc... also, would love to know those things i would need to know..

    thanks

google up on the yashica 124 or 124g, and if you have any other questions ask me

either that or the bronica would suit your needs, a good yash should be under 200 on ebay.

  8. also, what is a good entry level medium format camera for me to aim for sometime in future? [edit, other than holga, diana.. i was looking at bronica though seems nice..]

also, for my 35mm, how much does the body matter, or should i just focus on lenses..

    yashica 124 or 124g

    both are late model TLR's

if you are looking into them, ask me for more info, there are some things you need to know b4 you buy

other choices (6x6 format) are the bronica sq series and hasselblad 500c

budget? style of shooting? what do you want to shoot?

  9. um. what? i asked what macro lens you used.

yeah, i was talking about your lens.

it was taken with an adaptall sp 90mm f2.5 nikon f with nikon f to eos converter.

i like my 180mm f3.5l more but its a bit too large for non-serious use

  10. what macro lens are u using with this. I just picked up the tamron 90mm and absolutely love. first time using macro and its much harder than i thought...

if it looks right, it works right.

    that is one ugly lens.

  11. Random question:

I'm trying to use my G9 on manual. I want to take an action picture where the moving object looks still and everything behind it is blurred. I know the way to do the other way around is increasing shutter speed. How do I do it?

    thanks

having a fast shutter speed does not equal sharp back/foreground and blurry subject so that 2nd to last sentence is confusing/doesnt make sense.

you are trying to do a panned shot,

panning is when you track the subject with your camera

lets say its an f1 car (fun shooting by the way)

use a slower shutter speed (varies on how fast the subject is moving) and track it with your camera.
