  1. get some film try them all out in the same light / time of day, on items of varying colors i.e. red door, blue sky, green grass ...and you'll see the differences for yourself

ehh make sure you know the basics of film before you go and buy.

know the diff between slide/neg/bw etc etc.

i guess you could say i have a thing for film.

searching on flickr, for instance "velvia 100f 35mm"

is an easy way to get a feel for a film's qualities.

  2. so dont buy the 1600 slr in the first place.

not having a good flash (when you need one, not everyone does)

is like not having a good lens etc.

if you buy a ferrari, understand that the accessories needed to utilize it to the full potential are going to cost you.

  3. I've got a 40D and I love mine. To each his own. I find Nikons menus to eleborate to get around quickly. Although im sure if I had the camera for a couple days I'd get used to it. Meh...

Great companion for anyone whos got an slr or planning to buy one. If you have been looking at flashes, there are a bunch of fancy ones on the market, sold by nikon and canon, with all these fancy lcd screens, menus, built in f/stop calculators, etc.

Holding my vivitar 285HV manual power selection flash today I feel I can still compete with all the new flashes. They've been around for a long time and they do their job. I've got 2 of them, matched with cactus wireless flash triggers (they are pooo). I really need to buy some pocket wizards or something.

    lulz cactus triggers suck.

and it is very annoying when people try and defend them by saying that they dont need 100% reliability.

theres alot more to a 580exII/sb800 etc than an lcd an f stop calculators, it is wierd that you would bring that up since your vivi has a calculator too.

  4. he was talking about the f2.8 version, which does not benefit from the advances made between the production of the previous 70-200mm L's and the the still relatively recent f4is.

  5. 50mm sucks balls on a cropped sensor (for day to day use). Shooting indoors with that thing had me backed up against the wall a lot.

your day to day isnt necessarily another person's day to day.

  6. Anyone have experience with the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L?

Looking at buying one within a month or two...

one of the best zooms out there

non-is > is when possible, due to image quality.

that said, you are going to think that even the 70-200mm L sucks if you get your hands on a 135mm f2L or a 85mm f1.2L etc.

and just because it is an L doesnt mean it is free from sample variation, try to be able to test out a few diff copies at the store.

  7. pair of Nudie Straight Svens, Dry Selvage.

    size 31/32

worn once, the honeycombs are not set, there is no fading anywhere.

i folded the bottom into a cuff, the crease is lightly set, however there is no fading and it will become undone as you wear them, or you can keep them cuffed.

they fit true to size, sizing on nudies has been discussed at length, and these are not stretched in any way.

never washed, and like i said as new.

pictures are of the jeans for sale, my pictures.

paypal only, they go for $179 + shipping at cultizm who are the cheapest sellers, however they only have big sizes in stock now.

paypal only - $175 shipped, usps priority 2-3 days.

    have references available on request.

  8. Would you mind giving me some info on this camera? Seeing it with the pocket wizard sparked my curiosity. I would love to see some of your photos!

    polaroid 195.

    amazing camera.

    114mm f3.8 and sharp.

i use it with a p-dub to set off studio lighting.

uses pack film, i only used fuji stuff so the polaroid discontinuation isnt so bad.

just wish that they would bring back 665, but there are rumors of ilford looking into it.

  9. the polaroid that im planning on using is like the last one on the right in that picture of the 3 (posted by MuFID). what do they usually use? and its a local store, not a chain.

it takes spectra, which is available at walmart or target.

open the film loading door and it should say what type of film, check to make sure.

  10. if i go into my local camera/photo store, they should still have some polaroid film in stock, yes? i'm gonna dig out my mom's old polaroid and mess around with it.

chain photo stores are iffy, places like target or walmart always have 600 and spectra series film.

  11. hey,

yesterday, after looking through this thread i asked my dad if he has some old polaroids somewhere and this is what he dug up:

    dsc0021kw3.jpg

couldn't wait to start taking photos when i realized that i don't have a film arghh

now i don't really know much about polaroids but i assume that i need different films for different cameras, or can i use the standart 600 films for the 2000 model in the middle? that's almost the only film i find on ebay...

camera on the left needs pack film, middle should take 600 series films and the right should take spectra.

fuji still makes pack films, which are the most important polaroid/instant films for me so ill be fine for now.

  12. I don't really know what you mean by this. Can you explain?

dont know the context surrounding this but he was joking.

a digital back is piece of electronics that is put on the back of a camera such as a medium/large format film camera to make it into a digital.

20+ megapixels and 20+ thousand dollars.

pretty much exclusive to studio pros etc.
