Just measured mine post soak, waist 26
Before soak 28.4 inches
After warm soak (2 hours) - 28 inches

I think this is the reason people say to downsize in these. They don't shrink much first soak. However, from what I've heard, they continue to shrink with each soak. This is why I soaked mine 3 times and 20 mins in the dryer.

I would catagorize them as mid-rise.

Mine were stiff, but even after a soak, I couldn't get them to stand on their own. Anyway, they softened up very quickly. They don't feel any stiffer than my other jeans now.

Very nice fit. Mine were much baggier before soak. I would soak in cold water and go for a walk in them after to dry. Don't worry, they'll soften up in no time.

Figured I'd post this here. I have an Alpha Industries M65 field coat for sale on ebay. It is brand new and worn once or twice. It's a tad too big for me.

After soak, I had a hard time buttoning mine up. I wore them until dry, going for a walk outside. They stretched comfortably during that walk and have stretched just a tad more since then.
I would order your regular size which sounds like 32. Due to the cut, these will naturally sit lower on your hips then your 501s.

Totally different cuts. The SC's are more "relaxed", while the sammies are much slimmer. The sammies also have a better fitted seat. Which do you prefer?

Cool, after seeing braid kids s5000vx they seem very slim, alot slimmer than I have seen in other peoples pics.. You sized down right braidkid? I cant wait to get mine next week now
Well, I think these run maybe 1 size bigger then tagged. I usually wear 30 in all my jeans and 28 in new standards. Anyway, the 29 in the sammies has worked very well. I did soak them a total of 3 times in warm water and put them in the dryer for about 20 minutes so maybe that helped a little.

Jeffvyain, those sammies are looking great...I really dont see why you need a size smaller. They actually look slightly more fitted then my 29's do. Anyway, congrats on the wear.

i have a feeling i may get a superdeaththreat for asking this, but hopefully one of you might be so kind to give me an answer.
i dont know much about samurais, i love the straight, slim fit of my nudie slim jims, is there any fit that samurai makes that comes close to that? or no because samurais are all the anti-fit repro type fit?
My S5000VX are certainly not anti-fit, as a matter of fact, they fit similar to my new standards in the rear and thigh.

So the 5000VX is a slim straight leg cut and the S500XX is slightly slimmer with a higher rise. So where does the 3000VX sit in the mix? I can't tell the rise or whether or not they're that loose by the measurements on Samurai's site. I'm basically looking for a '47 501 Repro or at least something that isn't too baggy (but has anti-fit). does Samurai make a model like this?
Sounds like either LVC 501 or Sugarcane 47 are exactly what you're looking for.

That's hilarious....I picked up the exact same W+H stuff at the sample sale....the pullover and that jacket size S and M. I'm currently selling the M if anyone's interested. Its posted in the Supermarket section.
Anyway, looks really good.
