tokyo it is...thanks guys, especially englandmj7. Reason I asked was I read in other posts how Osaka was preferred due to nicer people, better shopping, etc.
englandmj7, that hostel you posted in my earlier thread looks perfect in the heart of tokyo. i may pm you for some additional information.

I'll be in Nagoya on business and plan to stay for 3-4 nights in either osaka or tokyo but my question is, which one?
Which is better for someone's first time outside the US visiting Japan? I would like to do a little shopping but also see some sites and experience Japan. Which would you suggest and why?
Lastly, any suggestions to cheap accomodations in either location would be great.
Thanks so much...

Does anyone else find these to be a bitch to break in?
how long have you been wearing yours?
I've found mine to be fairly easy to break in. I have very noticable whiskering and lap fading.....worn them for about 4 months straight with one hot wash. It seems they've begun to fade easier after the first wash. I'd say these have faded the same if not more then my new standards. Also, I dont do anything hard in them except walk around doing normal daily activities.

I'll be in Italy for about a week next month and looking for suggestions on how to dress appropriately. I know Italians are very particularly about their clothes so I dont want to look like a douche. I wear jeans exclusively, will this be a problem? Should I wear some sort of slacks as well? I wear my fitted shirts untucked; is this considered ok? I've also heard not to wear any sort of sneaker (ie chucks, vans, etc). Is this true, should i only stick with dress shoes/loafers?
I know this is a rather stupid post but I want to be as educated before going as possible. Thanks for any and all suggestions.

back from my travels....all i can say is, damn, those italians know how to dress. i was amazed, even being in Puglia (southern agricultural region) that most of the guys really put effort into what they were wearing....nice change to what you see in the states.
not excited to return to the rain saturated NW
