  1. Anyone who wants to make a minimum order of £10,000 and pay shipping from Japan.

Can't see anyone doing it in the U.K. especially now the original designers have moved on. As a replacement graphically Alakazam reminds me a lot of the best Silas stuff.

  2. those jeans looks great on you
Those fit nice. I guess you sized up two...

Thanks a lot. I could theoretically fit into a 30W but I was warned that the raw 6x6's can shrink a bit after a hot soak so I thought that they were a bit ambitious.

The 31's would have been perfect but I wanted to be able to ride in them a lot (which is another reason I got them hemmed) so went up to the 32's which have turned out mint...

  3. Skull 5010xx 6x6 Raw. 32'' waist (I'm 5' 11'' and 72kgs with cyclists thighs hence why I sized up)

Hemmed by FabFour, I've not soaked them.

Though I got hammered for tax I'm really happy with them. The fact that they're the old style red tab version is a bonus...

  4. Gem_art.... shit, I feel for you. Would this happen everytime? Could shinichi mark it as a gift?

Also..... you dont get let off for tax in japan...so you have paid japanese and british tax? Right? Pssshit..

I don't know about the JP tax Viv, the full invoice is in the package but I'm sure I've been hit twice...

I'm resigned to it now but it's a salutary lesson for anyone else in the U.K. I must add that the service I've received from Fab Four -Shinichi especially- has been fantastic.

  5. I got a bit carried away in the accessories department after ordering a pair of 5010 6x6's

On top of the jeans I got a keyholder and a silver chain with a couple of charms. It should all be with me tomorrow, I'll post piccies when the package arrives.

  6. Just ordered a pair of 5010 6x6's from Shinichi amongst some other bits.

I don't order much clothing online prefering to try things on before buying but I have to say the level of customer service I've received from FabFour is fantastic...

  7. Being a mountainbiker pedals dont seem to last too long. On the orange that I showed I swapped my old Primo non sealed platforms for some sealed atomlab pedals, after 6months ( maybe more but definately under a year ) my dad has noticed play in em, quite a bit to be honest. Pretty disapointing as my non sealed pedals lasted a few years. Are there any really well sealed pedals out there? Platform with pins?

I'd agree with Loop that running unsealed pedals to destruction is probably the best approach but I've had a pair of Easton Flats on my BMX for three years and although they've had play in them for about 2 and a half years they've never given up on me... The trouble with sealed pedals seems to be:

    1. the bearing size (for obvious reasons they've tiny)

    2. the long tapered bush that most of them run means that replacing the bearings doesn't get rid of the play.

I've had a few friends run atomlab pedals and they seem to have developed a reputation for being shite..

  8. european brand/chain with mostly extremly tasteless stuff, alot of jeans, in the style above. Everything very washed, with horrible prints. Amjack/guido style , but european.

The mark up on wholesale to retail on this shit is about 3.5-4x depending on the store...

  9. I know I'm bringing a thread back from the dead but it seems the most appropriate...

A load of past seasons discounted Edwin denim will be out in the Carhartt warehouse by the end of the week. The stock represents the remnants of the short lived Neal St. store denim, the discount amount varies but is typically between 30 and 40%

Be warned there is very little raw denim to be had but there're a lot of washed JP made pants...

  10. There've been a couple released over the years but they could be held up as examples of how not to produce a DVD.

The problem is -with the U.K. team at least- they're all filming for load of different projects at the moment; Nangland, Fit UK,Tomorrow we Work etc... but we'll look to do something in 2008.

In retrospect I can understand why companies are so reticent to put a lot of money into something which is likely to end up on YouTube the day of its release. My problem with the mixtape format is that they lack the epic feeling that can only really be acheived by chucking money at someone who really knows what they're doing. I would be interested to see the result of giving Rich Hirsch or Joe Cox an Etnies-sized budget...

  11. The first big budget BMX video since the last one that Etnies released comes out in June '07. Mike Manzoori's doing the editing and there's a trailer here:

    http://www.etniesbmx.com/blog/2007/03/29/grounded-dvd-available-june-2007/

It's a shame there's only one company in BMX that spend serious cash on their video production. I'm not knocking the mixtape format but there's only so much you can do with a limited budget, large companies that have been mugging off BMX for time need to fix up...

  12. Yup, Edwin made. The company that owns the Carhartt Japan license are the same people behind Edwin in Japan...

The front leg panel is a lot narrower than the rear one but they're all good for £75... Don't forget to size down two waist sizes, I take a 31 in Imperials and a 29 in these...

  13. Hey! I think the tubing might be just slightly larger than the Ivy. Before this, I was riding a 21' One True Ave, but it cracked and the Time Frame was all they had in 21. My friend Conall was riding the Ivy and he cracked his and got a Time frame as well. I've only ridden the frame for about a week, but so far so good.

    Where are you located?

    -Chad

I'm based in London. I really like the clean and simple look of the Take frames, you don't see them much in the U.K. where did your One true Ave crack?

  14. Hey man if youre interested in a BMX style bike I have one thats in great shape sitting in my garage. Its a mongoose villian and its all chrome with mags on it. I bought it from a little privately owned spot up on Balboa in about.... I would say 95/6 or so. Im living in Japan at the moment, but the bike is in Daly City. I have no clue regarding price and the like (BMX heads what would you say?), so let me know.

    If youre interested PM me.

I guess it depends if arevalo wants a bike to really ride or just cruise around on. Mags are rare on BMX's these days for good reason, they're heavy and really difficult to repair (contrary to the myth they don't straighten out if you put them in the freezer...)

There's an increasing interest in old school bikes, have a look on www.vintagebmx.com to get an idea of how much it's worth...

  15. BMX folks.

School me, I want a cheap rig I can mess with every once in awhile.

Would I be better off scoping craigslist?

So far ... Hoffman or Haro has been recommended.

If you're not sure what you're looking for then I'd avoid buying second hand, have a look at the Fit completes at Empire http://www.empirebmx.com/catalog/catalog.aspx they'll be more that adequate to dick around on.

The Hoffmans would be fine too...
