  1. ^ nice! I picked up a nice bottle of brandy and am cooking a whole mess of channa masala and rice to tide us over in case the power goes out.

Don't forget to fill your tub with water so you can flush the toilet if you lose water ;)

should try Germain-Robin Single Barrel Pinot Noir Brandy... though i wudnt use it for cooking...

  2. i live on 1st ave and did a few precautionary things. got water, food and filled up the bathtub so i can still flush the toilet in case water gets cut off.

dont know if im overreacting, but better safe than sorry. real tired of hearing ppl including my roommates who claim "it wont be that bad" when they dont know anything about weather. just seems like stupid arrogance.

why u need to fill up the bathtub? you live in a high rise with no gravity tank or something?

  3. do people actually like hennessy?

i think it's just cause its in rap videos

    stuff tastes like crap.

Whats wrong with Hennessy? the VS and Black tastes like crap... the black got wayyyyy too much vanilla notes to it... but the VSOP, XO and up is good stuff...

I prefer Pierre Ferrand... they make a better Cognac... but most bars dont that...

  4. Hey guys, how's biking in NYC? I'm moving there in a month or so for about six months, and wondering whether to bring my bike down.

How's traffic? Theft? Laws? General biking conditions?

On one hand, I feel like bringing my bike down might be a hassle; on the other hand, walking everywhere seems silly.

I am sorry if this has been discussed in this thread before, but it wouldn't have been the type of thing I'd notice (till now).

Manhattan traffic is hectic... cars will cut you just to wait @ a fucking solid RED light

NYC is/was the capital of bike thefts in the US...

GENERALLY if you lock your bike outside for short periods of time... its not a problem... but overnight, you'll find your shit missing... odds are, you'll never find it again...

get a Kryptonite NYC lock... its a good deterrent... though it can still be clipped with a 48" bolt cutter

Bike laws? what stuntastic said... funky as hell...

Even if you didn't violate any law, cops will write you up anyway, and make you waste your time getting it dismissed...

the roads are ehhhh.. shit load of potholes still not filled yet since the snowstorms...

But besides that... biking in NYC is fun... i ride to work everyday... only got clipped twice, and nearly doored like 50 times... all good
