  1. The FBT is seriously the closest a person can come to feeling like they're not even wearing shoes... A combination of the weight, last shape, elk skin upper make it the most comfortable shoe ever..

I think more so the Folk series then the regular FBT, a Nike Free offering is obviously only good in certain settings but I think it goes beyond a Folk FBT in comfort haha.

Apparently Hong Kong FIL is re-releasing the Bearfoot Shaman as well today (Friday, July 11th)

  2. ^they might have the shaman folk left, which is pretty much the same, save for the flaps

Bear Foot Shaman's are for the most part sold out

Lhamo's can be bought at local resellers for below FIL HK retail... $3300 or $3400? But I see almost zero chance of grabbing Lhamo's through FIL in over a month's time.

  3. There's a new Ballistic 20 releasing as part of FIL Hong Kong's 1st Anniversary upcoming later this month.

Think G1950 x Visvim K Pack style on a Ballistic 20 with checkered bottom (instead of the obvious elk).

Looks pretty dope, no pics though

  4. Thanks for the info, I remember Schoeller from acronym, but didn't realise how diverse their products/materials are.

As for Canada Goose's jackets, it seems that some use: http://www.3xdry.com/ (from Schoeller).

Website doesn't say how long the exterior waterproofing treatment actually lasts for. When is an external fabric going to be created that doesn't need treating or degrades over time?

Yeh Acr is another brand that definitely falls within the Vis/CGs etc.

As I understand, 3XDRY is like an outer layer while c_change is an inner layer. From the non-insulated range, the Pearson is most expensive @ $550 with 3XDRY/c_change will the subsequent cheaper models are all Arctic-Tech/c_change.

  5. What material would you be talking about? eVent's?

I recently came across c_change and even more recently DiAplex (within like 2-3 days ahah)

    http://www.schoeller-textiles.com/pdf/eng_PR_c_change_test_results_05056.pdf

    http://www.diaplex.com/

Here's a further article that actually compares c_change vs. eVent vs. Gore-Tex (which is undeniably the current rankings of these 3 materials).

    http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/outdoors/2004292299_nwwgettingingear20.html

c_change /DiAplex are both interactive materials, and very similar to the point I can describe the materials together in one post. When the ambient temperature is low and little perspiration is detected, the molecules of the material stay tightly chained together (and creating a windproof barrier). When the ambient temperature rises, the molecules spread apart extensively to allow perspiration to leave from within.

How this relates back to Visvim, I've always likened Visvim as the innovator and number one purveyor of combining functional features (i.e. Gore-Tex/WindStopper) with fashionable designs/cuts etc. Canada Goose (another solid brand) have offered their Pearson jacket with the aforementioned c_change + 3XDRY (another moisture management system) that effectively shit kicks any Gore-Tex materials. I haven't seen any of the Canada Goose Non-Insulated Collection in real life, however I feel they are along the similar lines of Vis but unsure of cuts/fit.

Here is Canada Goose's Non Insulated line http://www.canada-goose.com/products/products.aspx?Class=Men. North Bay Expedition is pretty dope as well. HB has better pictures http://www.hypebeast.com/2008/03/canada-goose-2008-spring-summer-collection

Sorry for the jump off, technical fabrics with fashion are hella interesting to me.

  6. i guess there is no point now,

    TED

more importantly though, how could you have recognized me w/o xiao ding dong?!

also, to keep this thread relatively on track...

    vis9_home.jpg

    Visvim x Number (N)ine

I'm not that knowledgeable about (N) pricing, but does this fall in line @ ~ $1300 USD, noting it is made of Gore-Tex.

however, I'd like to see Visvim ditch gore-tex for a better tech material... or perhaps the fact Gore is so well known amongst the non-educated makes it a big selling point.

  7. yes the Folk FBT is great but I really wouldn't be sprouting it off to the degree many have.

The shoe is a cut above the rest, but entirely expected in my opinion. Perhaps the anticipated end result that surrounded the Folk collection fully meet my expectations rather then surpassing those who came in with a blank slate?

  8. I don't think that it will catch it as easily as some may perceive. Yeh cool etc etc but they are much more expensive that your typical sneakers with hard to acquire distribution.

It's when Lanvins get hit by bootleggers, that's when shit will get fucked up.

  9. the uggs look good here

    1201547547.jpg

are Uggs ever justifiable? Takizawa was wearing them for his Hoods opening in HK and it just looked weird. Perhaps slightly swayed but associated people that wear Uggs in North America.

  10. Got the water resistant Striped Parka in the mail today..

fucking amazing quality. Alpha Industries made it. (skip if you already know what AI is) It's dope though because AI is apparantly the premier supplier of jackets for the U.S. Air Force, Navy, Army, and Marine Corps.

They go back to 1959 in military design.

AI no longer produces for any armed forces shit. the website is old I think

  11. You can only be the cool guy for so long. Making cool products is good and all but if you can make more money why not do it?

I'm not saying selling out, but this is after all the G-LINE. This isn't a direct represenation of what Visvim has become well known for. Tiered collections seem the most viable way to increase sales while sacrificing a little bit of brand integrity.

For every G-Line, there is Folk etc etc

  12. You're supposed to wear your Folks sock less... well its an option

I can definitely see them stretching out as well.

Comfort was so-so, maybe even worse then a Nike Free (speaking on behalf of the Lhamo). There's very little support

  13. I felt the Folk FBT in all it's modifications translated into the truest representation of a moc to date. Mostly likened to the thinner, low profile sole. The padded collar is an interesting touch as well.
