we just got those Black Black Slim Jims at Self Edge and they fit super nice, probably the nicest fitting Nudie's i've tried on so far.. black is the new black.

Will you guys ever carry any of the more niche jeans that are popular on these forums? Things like Skull, PBJ, Ande Whall, Acne, or Julian Red?
You know.. i get a similar question to this very often. i don't mind the question at all, but just to clear things up.. Here at Self Edge we don't want to carry every brand, i want to carry what is near impossible to get, brands that are the best of the best and nothing less. Brands that have history and are here to stay for years to come.
I'm very picky with what denim comes into Self Edge, and that's why i'm sticking to Samurai, Sugarcane, Iron Heart, and Imperial. We carry Nudie because of the neighborhood we're in, it's very popular here in the Mission District, and we're carrying Sling & Stone for women because i absolutely love their women's cuts. I'm adding another line or two in january from Japan, more info on that when we get closer to January.
so to recap, i'm doing my best to carry what i consider to be the cream of the crop in denim today and brands that i personally enjoy their entire catalog. It's very important to me that i like the entire line, i can't just order the denim if they also make belts, hats, etc. for instance, we're getting in a full line of belts, shirts, wallets, jackets, etc from Sugarcane and Iron Heart. Probably by January we should have everything that they both produce, and by Feb we should have Samurai's entire line too.
i'm rambling now, i'll stop.

Am I mistaken in thinking these are made in China?

I would totally recommend some Sugarcanes, they do a one wash in ALL their models they make. all sugarcane models ending in "A" are one wash... we stock them all at Self Edge over the no wash ones because then there's less worry about shrinkage, sizing, etc.. they're slightly shrunk already for you and they've done the presoak for you, so the second you buy them they're ready to wear.

i saw a person. i swear, on the streets of dc in a hollister polo shirt, new balances and canes 47. i went up to the guy and asked him where he got his canes. taken aback, he said "history preservation" i then asked him if he was on any jeans forums. he said no, and when i asked him if he had washed them yet he said "yes, about 45 times". So the point is, sugarcanes are becoming mainstream, and since they are made in the US, wouldnt it be
a)cheaper
b)practical
c)great for the company
if they opened an nyc flagship? has this happened already somewhere, if not, what asre the odds of it happening within the next 5 years?
a few comments i have on this post..
seeing one person with canes doesn't mean they're mainstream. History Preservation has been selling them for years and is quite known among people in the fashion industry that are into vintage repros of any kind.
sugarcanes are not made in america. a couple models they make are assembled here then shipped back to Japan to be tagged and completed. the rest of their line is fully made in japan including all their shirts, jackets, belts, etc..
i understand your question, i just don't think a company like sugarcane would benefit from a flagship store in any way. most flagship stores aren't even profitable, they're merely a very expensive ad for the manufacturer.

is this for real?

 Imperials don't make my stick size (29). Do Imperials stretch much? I might consider buying a 30. Kiya, does Self Edge have any raw Dukes? If so how much?
huh?
actually, yes Imperial does make your size.
they will stretch about 3/4" in the waist after a month of wear, but that stretch will come back in nicely with a 25 minute soak.

I'm afraid of Imperials.. Are there any other models besides Imperials?
afraid?
you just had three people give the same answer to your question and you're "afraid" of the suggested brand?

The SEXIH will have the same charactaristics as the usual Iron Heart denim, shrink to fit but with little indigo loss.

I think I would interested in a Dior type cut too, 19cm of course. Keep the cut and the 37" inseam but improve it this way:
-Nice 14oz.+ selvage, would improve on the Diors by proving for less stretching and heavier weight/stifness would keep the stack longer... maybe go for stitching that can allow for thicker roping effect too....
-Maybe differ the aesthetic by going for the western-style details over the Euro, like bronze/gold rivets and hardware, some sort of donut buttons for the fly, traditional button waistband, hidden rivets, leather patch on the back pocket, etc.
so odd.. this is pretty much exactly what i'm doing.
keep tight.
you'll be pleased soon enough.

We're getting these in at Self Edge on Wednesday or so..
Be prepared for the Imperial Denim onslaught.

you should make smaller sizes, because otherwise how will i be able to go in, try them on, and leave?
you really want smaller than a 29??
i wear a 29 in Dior, Rogan, Notify, etc..
but a 30 in Sugarcane, Samurai, Iron Heart, Imperial, etc..
and that's damn small..
so i figured i'd go one size smaller, which was size 29..
so i'll go to size 28...
i'll only be making a few 28's though.

ok so we have a 21cm repro. can you give us any sizing specifics? for example, how big around the hem would they be for a 30" waist? i never really understood the whole 19 vs. 21 thing, except that relatively, the 21 is bigger. is the inseam gonna be longer than shit too?
they'd be around 21cm, hence being similar to a 21cm dior.
all inseams will be 34"

speaking of design, how about those dior 19cm repros? what the fuck is taking so long? do i have to do it myself?
we're doing a very similar cut.. the Self Edge x Iron Hearts
very similar to a 21cm Dior..
specs were just posted to the "Self Edge Update" thread..
