  1. No. Hedi took Dior in his asthetic direction obviously, but Dior has been a fashion powerhouse looooong before any of us knew the name Hedi Slimane. Galliano... Tom Ford... fucking Dior himself.

I'm not sure if this post was supposed to be a joke because you seem obviously misinformed.

There was no Dior Homme at the time of Dior actually heading the house nor was there a Dior Homme at the time of Yves Saint Laurent heading Dior. Dior Homme did not exist as a brand until Hedi came on as creative director of Dior's menswear divison (the darts, bee, color pallette, etc.).

Therefore, Dior Homme and it's aesthetic are all the creation of Hedi Slimane. The relevance of Dior as a house has little to do with the Dior Homme's direction as it never existed until relevantly recently in the span the houses life.

Also, Tom Ford never had anything to do with Dior. He worked for Gucci group and only headed YSL and Gucci. YSL when he was younger headed Dior and Hedi started out at YSL menswear design and left to Dior when Ford came in, but that is the extent of Tom Ford's involvement with Dior.

If anything, KVS S/S '08 presentation was more in line with what I would expect Dior's menswear to look like based on the work of Dior and YSL for Dior.

  2. I thought KVA was supposed to be working on a new direction? This looks like Hedi Slimane by Kris Van Assche

Well, Hedi did establish what Dior Homme is. To me this seems like he's keeping that same direction in mind while trying to offer something a little different (seems more mature?). This is the kind of stuff I would have expected for Spring/Summer following Hedi's AW06 collection. Looks like it has potential, I'm looking forward to his AW collection.

  3. I don't think it's entirely truly that streatwear companies don't sell wholesale. I believe most legit companies big or small have wholesale prices. I know my friend who has a small tee shirt line has wholesale prices. It's the boutiques who decide the price they want to sell them at for retail, be it double wholesale or more. I could be wrong as I'm more familiar with established large brands.

  4. Interesting that someone brought up Liz Claiborne as I work as a designer for one of the brands they're looking to sell (Laundry by Design). When started my first design job a year ago I started out at 37k and now I'm making in the low 40's.

Like someone else mentioned being a senior designer, design director or VP is where the money is (100K+). However you'll definitely be working for you money

  5. I own two pieces of Tiffany jewelry. My girlfriend bought me a pair of knot earrings (they look like knot cuff links) and an ID bracelet with my name in script on the top and her innitials on the inside of the cuff. Both of which I wear everyday.

I honestly don't see why this is a question as it should be a matter of what the jewelry looks like not the company who designs it. If it is a matter of questioning the quality, Tiffany is one of the leading produces of high quality metal goods from what I understand.

  6. Definitely a lot more polished than his menswear collection. To me his menswear customer doesn't read the same as his womenswear customer in terms of taste. His womenswear definitely appeals to the contemporary ladylike market/customer who likes Mint, Jill Stuart, See by Chloe, etc. However his menswear seems pretty rugged and less sophisticated.

  7. Cashmere denim has been done before. I've never felt it myself, but it sounds interesting. The wash on the APC's looks really nice too. I think I may just bite the bullet and cop when I get the chance.

  8. I think people are mistaking the regular Uniqlo polos (basic polo with long placket) that they merchandised with the Plokhov collection polo (epaulettes, button pocket, stand up collar). The polos from this collection sold out of the NYC store within the first couple hours of their release. As pieces from the collection sold out they filled the spots with regular Uniqlo merchandise.

  9. My friend is an assistant designer at Uniqlo NYC so she was able to hook my girl and Iupwith a 30% discount. I copped the anorak in black since I needed a new windbreaker. It's a nice slim fit jacket and can't beat the price, especially after a discount.

  10. Off topic kind of but:

Just in case anyone is confused, I'm not Rome. He's a friend of mine and I gave him one of my extra Niketalk accounts. So, don't go into Flight Club asking to see "Rome's new tattoo". Hahaha, Actually it would be kind of funny. I can imagine his reply, "What the fuck are you talking about?"

Dunkin's right. I remember I used to get random IM's about sneaker sales all the time.

  11. Thanks for the complements guys. I should take some current pictures to show the actual color and detail.

Dunkin' what's up? For the last couple of years I haven't been able bring myself to be on Niketalk longer 2 minutes.

Got it done like last month or so, I have to get the large flower by my wrist touched up though. Paisley is my favorite print.

  13. If you're talking about all black with the raspberry sole I'm not even sure if they are coming to US. You can get them on the Puma EU website and they will ship to NY. Try calling Barneys, NM and Bloomingdales but I don't think you'll find them. Btw. they don't come in half sizes and they run pretty large so either go to the store and try the white ones or order one size down.

Thanks for the response, I'll try Puma's EU site. However concerning the half sizes, I actually own a pair of the White MY-25 in a 11.5 which I purchased off Zappos.

  14. Hey, I've been trying to locate a place that has the Puma MY-25 in Black. I'd prefer a place in NYC, but if someone can recommend a place online that would be cool too. I called the Puma Black store and they said they only had the white colorway.

So, can anyone help me out?

    P.S.: size 11 or 11.5

  15. Gabardine

Yes, I think the items are worth the money for the fabric, trim, and fit. However, you can get a better pair of pants that are half lined for around the same price, but I don't know if the fit will be as nice/specific.

  16. I went into DQM on Saturday at around 1 ish or something, but they didn't have any sz 12 Huf's left, so I walked out empty handed. This really surprised me, I didn't think a size 12 pair of Vans would sell out at DQM, but whatever.
