  1. Gabardine is not only a wool based fabric, it is a type of weave and can come in a variety of fibers (cotton, poly, wool, blends, etc.)

    Webster dictionary definition:

2 a: a firm hard-finish durable fabric (as of wool or rayon) twilled with diagonal ribs on the right side

The weave of gabardine is what makes it work well in rain. However many trenches are a poly blend in order to make it water repellent.

Reiss has several trenches on display on their website, which I'm sure will probably be available in the store. As for Zara, the website sucks when it comes to figuring out what's out for the season. Your only real choice is to swing by a store and check it out. In fact there's a cool belted trench and peacoat that come in khaki and black both of which are water repellent (poly blend) available right now (atleast in every NYC Zara I've been to.) I also believe Uniqlo has a trench too.

  2. That trench is a knock off of Dior A/W '06/'07. Anyway, like in the peacoat thread, I would suggest checking out Zara as they should have something along the lines of what you're looking for. You can also try Reiss. There's a trenchcoat featured in the splash image/looks.

  3. Like Poly said, Zara and Uniqlo are definitely better quality than Uniqlo. I would say that what makes Zara a better choice in my opinion over Uniqlo is the details they choose to set the garments apart. Like they have a short wool M65 that is lined in a white/silver (lurex) material or how they choose to shape and finish their facings (piped or bound).

Both good quality for the price though, just offering my personal opinion on aesthetics. By the way Zara currently has a charcoal plaid peacoat, a waterproof one that comes in khaki and black, and an assortment of trenches.

  4. I have to agree with everyone else about RPGs as an adult. I can't seem to maintain the momentum with a live in girlfriend, a job that I'm at more than home and the numerous other activities that now consume my life. I miss the good ol' days of being a kid and being able spend all day and half the night playing a good RPG.

  5. 1. Final Fantasy Tactics (Strategy RPG)

    2. Xenogears/Chrono Trigger (tie)

    3. Vagrant Story

    4. FF XI

    5. FF VI

    P.S.

Honorable mention Castlevania SoTN (adventure w/RPG elements)

My friend swore the Crisagram sword was the best equip for Alucard, but I tried to explain to him Shield Rod + Alucard shield was far better (you were fuckin' invincible!)

  6. At Parsons they do not provide you with a machine and I'd imagine FIT is the same way.And no, a free machine is a good machine. Don't worry too much about the button pad (it just makes it look complex). Your main concern should be making sure you thread tension is correct, your need spacing is right, and that you're using the correct stitch (straight stitch is what you'll mostly be using)

  7. It's all a bit Euro-pervert with the hair/sunglasses/beard combo.

Either that or the local rapist at Disneyland Paris is on some next-level shit.

That has to be one of the funniest things I've ever read on this site. It was so funny I called my co-workers to read it in addition to looking at the picture. However, I think OP of pic looks fine in the denim.

I think it takes a specific personality type to wear this, especially for men. I think as trend for women it is less daring as menswear tends to be relatively more conservative. I think the real litmus test for this trend being truly over in America is if you see an Old Navy commercial advertising $20 or $30 skinny colored denim for women and more importantly men.

At this point I still think skinnies are a hard sell for the majority of men. When skinny denim has become what bootcut was for the 90's for men, then we can finally start talking about colored skinnies being over.

  8. Ruach, will you guys be recieving the new gold high tops or the slips ons from last season? I called Odin and they were unsure as to whether they would be recieving them as they weren't schedule for their upcomming delivery, but could be in their next.

  9. Nice article, someone posted it on TFS too. I definitely find what he says both interesting and promising. I'm not getting the same destined for nothing vibe I got from John Ray. Let's hope for a shining promising future for Dior.

  10. Well, everything I say is speculation (as is everyone's comments here), which I've tried to make clear. Also, I did acknowledge the fact that it is a business on my first post in this thread, which I quoted for clarity.

I feel like this argument is really circular, since I see your point and agree with it to some extent, but also agree with OMC. I guess, my main point is that I think KVA deserves some time before people in my opinion so hastily write him off. After all people were not so receptive of Raf and Pilati initially and look what they have done.

The only reason I mentioned that I owned Dior products and do fashion design professionally is the fact you called in to question whether I had ever seen the product in store or at all. Also, you mentioned that I seemed un-informed how a large fashion company goes about producing their product. I wasn't trying to make a point that it made me anymore of an authority about the situation, but rather that I had seen and owned the product (even admired enough to purchase it) and was well aware of how a company conducts their business being that I have to (unfortunately) deal with it 5 days out the week.

P.S. Anyone else here like what KVA did for Dior better than any of his own full collections, I know I do.

  11. what!?!?!?!?!??!!?! do you even know what rapper im talking about?

Kanye West "cant tell me nothing remix"

"Got a pocket full of stacks, safe full of blocks (Blocks)

Then they come through, look at the stones on the watch (Geah!)

Iced-out belt buckle, they never had a chance

Dropped sixty-grand, just to hold up my pants (Ha Ha!)

Still got the chevy, spent a grip on the Lambo

Twelve carats in my ear just to show em what I stand fo' (Aye!) "

    Kaye West "last call"

My money was thinner than Sean Paul's goatee hair

Now Jean Paul Gaultier cologne fill the air, here

    kanye west "touch the sky"

I went to Jacob an hour after I got my advance.

    I just wanted to shine.

kanye west "breath in breath out"

But is it cool to rap about gold

If I told the world I copped it from Ghana and Mali? (Mali!)

First nigga with a Benz and a backpack

Ice chain, Cardi lens, and a knapsack

Always said if I rapped I'd say somethin' significant

But now I'm rappin' 'bout money, hoes, and rims again

And it's still about the Benjamins

Big faced hundreds and whatever other synonyms

    Strippers named Cinnamon

    More chips than Pentium

What'cha gon' buy next? Whatever new trend it is

I'm tryin' to spend my stacks

And I'm so broke I look back like "Damn, was I on crack?"

I mean twelve platinum chains, was I on that?

What the hell was wrong with me dog?

    Sing along with my y'all

You named 4 songs, I was talking about overall CD/LP content.

Anyway, like I said "BEING ANGRY AT A RAPPER FOR BRAGGING IS LIKE BEING ANGRY ABOUT THE SUN BEING HOT".

  12. And here we are again... you sound like someone who has never seen Dior stuff in store and anything they produce for that matter. There's a ton of luxurious tops, sweaters, cardigans, jackets, coats, suits, pants, etc. The amount of clothes produced each season is huge.

The sweathshirts, tees, and stuff like that is selling well, thus it carries over from season to season. It's not because Hedi wants to release the stuff, it's because he has to... the brand is big, the company wants to cash in.

    Business 101.

Well, I think that we have to remember this is a business. I'm sure there's a sku plan that gets followed by the Dior design team. A sku plan for those that don't know is a guide put together most likely by the sales team of the brand. It gives a run down of what should be produced based on past wholesale buys. Those things; safari jacket, trench, etc. will never not be offered in the showroom because they're obvious go to sales pieces for the brand regardless what's shown for the runway presentation. Also, they're part of the aesthetic/brand identity that has been established.

I mentioned before on page two of this thread. I know that M65's, bee polos, etc are the lines bread and butter. However, I and many others feel the line had been reduced to just best sellers. Like S/S '06 and '07 felt like high fashion London and NYC hipster uniforms and not in a good way. I agree with OMC on the idea that the basic could be more profound. Maybe Hedi was a victim of finding a good formula one season and being forced to follow it hence forth by the men in suits. Whatever the case I do look forward to what KVA will do based on his presentation. As for what menswear brand is really worth looking out for IMHO, Lanvin Homme or Burberry Prorsum. The prices are ridiculous for Lanvin, however I think the clothes are real mens clothes with a direction.

P.S. I own a Fall '06 wool coat (the military one with the clip cosure @ the CF), a Fall '05 dress shirt (cotton voile and lurex half pintucked shirt), and S/S '07 boots. I also work as a designer. Does that make my opinion anymore valid?
