  1. anybody know where are the current season boat shoes on sale?

They were $965, should be on sale now, but don't know how much though. Picked mine up (sand/copper) during an earlier sale for $500 something. Highly recommended.

  2. I picked up the grey blazer with matching pants and shorts. I don't think anything is wrong with it. It's a really light weight cotton, unstructured (has shoulder pads though) summer blazer. Not too much a fan of the button choice, but working surgeon cuffs, nice plaid piping and half lining and slim boy cut fit for $80 is a winner in my book any day.

  3. Lanvin boat shoes are not rubber soled, but leather sole. They also appear to have a blake stitch sole contruction and I assume are done to a degree in which most high end mens shoes are done (hand done in an upscale factory). It is not unheard of for mens dress shoes to cost above $500.

Personally, I actually think the sneakers are a complete rip off @ $700+ (any sneaker for that matter). If you wear down the soles, they can't be replaced/repaired, so it's a bit of an empty investment compared to the shoes. I picked up the sand/copper Lanvin boat shoes. Also, retail in America for the boat shoes is not $1230, but $965. I snagged them for 40% off that during the Barneys one day private sale a couple of weeks ago.

  4. You guys do realize this will probably only be a womens only thing, right? I'm interested to see how this turns out Azadine Alaia did a collaboration with Seven jeans I think, but I've never seen what the end product was.

  5. I wanted to check out the BoO stuff, but I can't leave work. My girlfriend is going to swing by though. I've never tried on their shirts, but I figure I'd probably be an M, but wouldn't look like I was swimming in a L. I had a feeling there wouldn't be much there though.

  6. It used to be really skinny, but I think they changed that. I can't really help you because the only jacket I've tried on recently were women's (I cross dress).

I tried on this Jacket from Fall and the arms were super skinny. Skinnier than anything Dior I've ever tried on.

  7. Guys... your invaluable opinion needed... I'm getting a few stuff polkadot cardigan, men's cardigan, short sleeve pullover and the leather weekend bag... but I'm not sure about this dress... is it a Yes or a NO? Thanks in advance...

I say yes, I think it's a cute dress. If you're get tired of the shift look, just added a brown belt or something to cinch it in just below the placket.

  8. right, he's skinny, but also fairly tall. in my case i am skinny but only 5'6" and am pretty sure those pants wouldn't be suitable on people of my stature. i would say at least 5'9".

as for wearing all skinny pants all the time, there's also something to be said with consistency in one's wardrobe. if your image varies from day to day, then i suppose you don't really have an image. sure variety is nice, but within a certain range.

the wide leg pants are growing on me, and i can appreciate them, but they would never be in my closet (financial reasons aside).

The height thing may be an issue, but I don't think that wearing wide leg some how compromises ones look. If that were the case seeing wide and skinny pants in one collection such as YSL would be incongruous. I don't think an image is only defined by silhouette, but rather attitude and look.

  9. This is by far the best show of the season. I want everything from this collections. It's well designed with the modern man in mind and very aspirational, which I think high fashion should be.

Wide and skinny pants come and go just as much as lapel sizes and tie widths change. To those who argue they're skinny so they like skinny pants, the model wearing the clothes is pretty slim and I'd say the pants look damn good on him. It's nice having variety in life. It would be the equivalent of being a woman who only wore tight skinny mini skirts regardless of whatever else is out there. Sounds pretty boring and limited.

  10. i emailed apc about the grey jeans, fyi they're not raw. their response:

    >> the fabric is a soft medium weight denim with no stretch

wonder what size i should get then, i'm only used to apc raw jeans, in a size 29 or 30 to accomodate stretch.

I used to work at the store and I never was down with the superfuture size down rule as a suggestion to customers. I wear a 31 in NS and Cure washed and always bought one size smaller in Raw if that helps any.

  11. I'm digging this collection too. I want to see what else they have that isn't in stores. I'm hoping the short trench also comes in black besides the blue shown on the web. The boy scout shirt, grey jeans and narrow herringbone trousers are definite for the spring/summer.

Something I think it hot but would never pay full price for is the speckle Wool/Acrylic sweater for $310. That's like more than double the price a yarn composition like that should cost.

Also kind of feeling that porter bag.

  12. I'm digging this, but that's no surprise as I always love Burberry Prorsum collections (both mens and womens.) I'm also of the group digging the flared bootcut pants. I like them on trousers, but not so much jeans, the suiting fabric just makes it look 100x better.

  13. So much misinformation in this thread being passed as gospel. I already summed up barneys buy with prices a couple/few pages back. They are not getting any strapped his and I have not seen any, nobody is certain if they are even coming out. The copper toes will be 730. Lo's are 565 and strapped lo's are 585. Now get off the bandwagon.

Unless I had a moment of blindness or the buy book @ Barney's NYC is misprinted, the copper toe caps should be $635, which also come in an all black model. If anyone wants to verify go ask a Barney's associate to see the book of upcomming release.

They're also recieving blue/blue metallic boat shoes (same price as the white/gold) and gold or copper shoes (couldn't tell from the lighting in the picture) which should be like $800 something (can't remember the exact price.)

    I'm 99% sure about everything I've said.

  14. They'll go on sale, it just depends on if you're a popular size or not. But fuck, those are bank.

Yeah, I know man. I usually wear a 45/12 or 11.5 US so I figure my chances of swooping up a pair are high combined with the fact that I'm not sure if the shoes are ever as popular as the sneakers.

Plus they're shipping to several other Barney's locations so, come seasonal sale time I should beable to get a pair from the NYC store or atleast order from another Barney's location.

  15. So it is KVA? No wonder I didn't love it,haha.

I don't recall the APC trench from last year, but this one is the ever so popular sand khaki, I really wish we had it in black.

    Nice Robert Geller piece!

I checked it out at Barney's yesterday and it is the same trench as last year style wise. They changed the fabrication (100% cotton instead of poly/cotton blend), buttons, and added a leather side tab. I prefer mine from last year which has a khaki gingham lining and is poly/cotton for better water resistance.
