  1. cool thread. I'm sort of going to modify it a bit.

    • Favorite designer/tailor: too many to choose from and not enough experience to answer definitively. ask me in ten years.
    • Signature Looks/pieces: cargo pants; slim hoodies; layered tees/buttonups/cardigans; dangly shit hanging off my wrist; clothing with superfluous straps; neckwear. this is for right now -- who knows when or how it'll change.
    • Favorite shoes: white Chucks; laceup combat boots with elongated toes; chukka boots; Stan Smiths; anything from Alfredo Bannister; anything handmade and artisanal
    • Style icon(s): Trent Reznor (circa Lollapalooza '91); Sean Booth+Rob Brown (Autechre); Karl Hyde (Underworld); Bauhaus (the architects); Trainspotting (the movie + the activity); razorblades, big buckles, huge pieces of glass, black leather, flowing fabric, and everyone who has ever been nonchalant.

  2. yup, i just turned 20 at the end of january and its a whole different fucking ballgame

Damn, man. 20. Big leagues. Might want to apply for your AARP card. I hear you might have to start paying bills soon...

  3. i know what you mean, but i don't want to give nu-ravers the satisfaction.

these designers, as you know have been around long before the nu-rave scene/whatever. if you're getting at what i think you are, specifically any huge textiled or big printed article could be considered nu-rave.

    Haha, point taken.

Where did "nu-rave" even come from? Japan? Britain? Is it actually spawned from some sort of rave revival music scene or is it just a bunch of kids pretending?

  4. uuhhh, not everything...

i guess house of holland, cassete playa, and maybe jeremy scott (although this was liberally appropriated by rich nu-ravers).

    Hyperbole.

C-Neeon, Bless, Cassette Playa, Bernard Willhelm, Pleasure Principle (sort of), Raf Simons (sort of), etc.

It's obviously not ALL new-rave stuff but it's clearly a popular style / influence at Seven.

  5. just email the klaxons or something. this is kind of a stupid question, because how can one actually define "rave shirts?" i don't think that "rave-people" or whatever would actually answer this question or have any ability to describe this kind of shit.

if you're talking about the people who go to misshapes,

    maybe fighcats....

    It's actually really easy.

    Everything sold on http://www.sevennewyork.com

  6. nah, I don't have any specific Julius pants in mind. they just seem to be really good at making cargos.

not a fan of the ones you just posted. too busy. they seem exactly like the type of pants a guy who wears flaming-snakeskin cowboy boots would wear.

  7. i'm bumping this.
    Good call.

I picked up a pair of wool cargo pants from Engineered Garments. No idea how they'll be, but I'm fairly certain that I read somewhere that they had a bottom cinch, and they were 75% off so I figure they'll be worth $60.

still want some Julius ones but don't want to drop $400....

  8. I actually sold mine, finally. If mine had been made of fleece like Mike's I probably could've kept it since it would've been stretchy... alas...

stuff I've gotten recently or should be getting soon:

    * W&H thermal (best thermals ever)

    * W+H red/black tiger fleece (50% off)

+ miharayasuhiro cargos (guessing this was at least 40-50% off ... thanks coldrice)

+ engineered garments cargos (75% off)

    + margiela tanktops (50-75% off)

won't have my Cloak jacket till April. too afraid to have it shipped into Canada. *sigh*
