Awesome Noodle, looking good. On the slimmer styles the pocket opening is a bit smaller on top and slightly longer so the belt loops fit in, so the rivet is slightly more hidden.

yeah! 16 pairs sent today, phew busy week, will get the remaining 5 sent out in the morning. My good Indo guy is trying to sell the seconds pair, so hopefully there will still be 21 contestants. I sewed up the small hole by deconstructing some denim and using the indigo thread for the repair. Never thought of that before, quite a good trick for repairs if you have some of the original denim on hand.

My old february, contest jeans denim bill is now paid off! Yes, thats a weight off my mind. New style patch and leather patch samples came in yesterday, so will start a pre-order on the regular line really soon, new denim will be on it's way shortly as well. Doooods, how's it going. An update on proceedings. The jeans of the first ten confirmed guys are all made minus patches and bar tacks. Justin sent the patches about two weeks ago, so they should be here early in the week, no problems there. My main concern is the bar tack machine, with a worn out fibreglass cam. My mechanic has had a hard time finding parts, but he's just found a similar model Singer that one of his buddies has. He is driving down south this week to check it out. He is either going to poach the cam off it or just grab the whole head, hopefully at a reasonable price. It's a bit of a drive down there, so hopefully he can get it sorted.

Here's some pictures of the bar tackers. in the old workshop I had one of the older grey body models, it went sweeeet. I managed to pick up one of the cream body models about six months ago.

A few on the sufu list are slow pokin', so as previously posted hopefully we can get things sorted by friday. I have had loads of e-mails asking for spots, so after friday will have to open the rest up through the shop.

Just got the proper thread in for the buttonhole machine, tricky old things to get the right thread weights perfect. Got a really thick black gimp thread that beefs it up, the gimp thread goes around the button hole, trapped by the needle and looper threads.

rayw44 dropped out. Still talking to about 4-5 guys left on the list about sizing etc. Really need to get everyone set by the end of the week. Justin's pair is made, it was the sample and the confirmed eight pairs are cut and about a third of the way through construction. Hopefully the leather patches will be here soon!

Thanks guys, it's all going well. Probably won't be in the comp, currently wearing some of the old 15oz ones, but will make up some of the 13.5's soon. I think it's just over a year with these ones, 4-5 washes, will post some pic's when I get chance. I lost my favorite pair in the quake, I had just taken my 3+ year cone mills jeans to the workshop for more repairs a couple weeks before damn it. I do procrastinate when it comes to fixing jeans though, haha.

Hey guys. A few answers to the questions posted. The 13.5oz Zimbabwe denim I have used before, and will probably use it for the main line, it's my pick out of a ton of samples. I may still do the odd special roll in the future though. All the original contest denim was lost.

Are contests usually one year? I think they are. Originally the prize was going to be a jacket, so best faaaaadze win a jacket??

Justin the guy that has made the hair on hide patches sent them last week, so they should be here very soon. He sent through some pictures, please note these are just his first samples, they are not cut to correct size or the best brands. Two pic's are before and one after a wash test. As the hide is different shades and thicknesses all the brands will come out different, which is cool. Will take some more detailed pic's when they arrive.

If anyone is all set, got your size sorted, happy with details, ready to roll....send me an e-mail with your Sufu handle and I will send you a paypal invoice. The sooner I start chipping away at the construction the better, so the comp start gets going as soon as possible. Is this the best method? I have put up shipping costs on the website. NZ Post has added more countries to the Economy courier service, which is through EMS. They have also increased their prices, which is annoying. I base the cost on the average weight of jeans and round it down a bit, sorry it's so steep, NZ is far away from everywhere. The EMS is the best option though, standard airmail takes forever and there is no tracking/signature etc.

I have a separate design/cutting room upstairs, it's fairly cool, can see buildings getting the wrecking ball whilst working.
