  1. Hi guys. Good work everyone, this is one of my favorite threads! That is a good book Jerrylee, they actually issue that to students at fashion school, I lost mine though. Quite a few people ask me about sewing machines, if you are just starting out or want to do some repairs I can recommend a Bernina Minimatic, or I think they are also called Bernina 830's or 807 etc, they come in a red plasic carry case. They are quite expensive now when I see them on auction sites, but you can still pick them up for cheap. The are around 70's I think, steel body and made in Switzerland. When I first started sewing I destroyed a few plastic body machines, but these little Bernina's are awesome, I made whole pairs of jeans using one. Cool dudes, keep up the good work.

  2. Hhmm, the front may look to contrasty than real life. What I have been into lately is wearing jeans for a chunk of time without washing, then after the first wash, wash them every couple of weeks. I like to do the first wash before the combs cut the fabric, then washing often keeps the weird double comb thing happening, hopefully produces nice faded out wear patterns and keeps them strong. I love how they come out of the wash/dry all rigid and strong again. This is just all personal preference of course!

Does anyone have any preconceived nerdy plans like this? Haha.

  3. Hello fellas, hope alls good. Have been wearing some Caribou's for for a while, snapped some pic's at the six month mark. Worn everyday...except a few days when it was way to hot, it's been the hottest summer in 50 years. Colour is fairly accurate, I just hit auto tone and auto contrast, auto colour does strange things. Oh yeah, washed four times, first at about four months.

  4. We're pretty shite at Cricket these days, England will probably pound us in the second test. I watched one of the ODI's, it's a bit frustrating not having Sky, they played two one dayer's free to air, then the third was only on Sky...it's was on a Saturday and I was going to watch it, we got trounced anyway. With the Rugby season being so long now, people hardly get a chance to watch the Cricket before the new Super Rugby season starts.

  5. Yeah they got back together after 20 odd years in the wilderness, they broke up not to long after Second Coming. I believe there were many millions of pounds involved in the reform. Ian Brown has a successful solo career, saw him play in Sydney a few years back. John Squire is an artist and Mani was playing bass for Primal Scream for ages.

  6. Thanks Gregornz. It is going to take a long time indeed. I was in Auckland on mon/tues for the Stone Roses gig....was great to see some dirty old buildings and a normal city for a change. The gig was top notch, shouldaa got a lemon t-shirt. Did you go Chris? How did you break your arm fella?

  7. Hello dudes, hope all is good. Bit of a sad reflective day in ol' Christchurch today, it's the two year anniversary of the earthquake. I just wanted to thank all you guys again for your amazing generosity and help through a crazy difficult time. All the quake donations helped so much into getting the operation back up and running and I will be forever grateful!

Things are getting better in town, although at a fairly slow pace. The centre of the city is still cordoned off and buildings are still coming down, almost 1200 commercial's in all and thousands of houses in the suburbs. There are some new buildings going up which is a good sign though. I will be looking for a new bigger workshop later in the year when my lease runs out, my garage set up is pretty small! I loved working in the old one.

A few photo's of before and after

She's a bit of a wasteland in town. My new workshop/house is in green....a nice stroll down to the local boozer.

  8. Hey guys. That is a sweet fit Skurlandski. The Grizzly was designed more as the slim summer jacket depending on how you size. It took me a while to get used to mine, pretty slim cut, I usually wear it with just a tee or shirt....don't think I could button up wearing a hoody underneath. I have another jacket in the works, a couple months off yet, which will be a pleat front style in a fuller cut.

Yeah the SR4 denim is really nice, it has a dirtier weft than the others like a dirty greenish tinge. I think it will fade really well.

  9. Hey Poly, how are you mate. I am not a hundred percent sure how they dye that vintage blue denim. In previous convo's with my denim guy, he said they use predominantly pure indigo, so no black or colour additives.

  10. Hey guys. I have enough denim for one more pair of these vintage blues SR2's so long as they are 34" inseam or less. There must have been a bit more on that roll, so if anyone was keen and missed out etc. Have a cool day lads. (Edit.....these are gone.)

Got these SR2 Caribous a couple weeks ago, just getting around to taking some fit pics. I was torn between 29x36 caribous and 30x36 mustangs, since both had almost identical measurements, but went with the caribous for the 30 in. waist vs. 31 in the mustangs, since my true waist is around 30.5 in. This is my first pair of Andes, and I just wanted to echo everything that's been said about his unreal customer service and insane attention to detail. The X bar tacks on the back pocket corners and the back pocket wings are some of my favorite details on any jeans I've ever worn, not to mention the amazing color. Apologies for the shitty iPhone selfies, but it's the best I could do right now.

Worn about 6-7 days, no soak, they've stretched out a bit in the thighs and waist. Still looking for another quarter inch or so in the top block and thighs, but I love how they fit now.

  11. Ok dudes. Yes a jacket is the prize! Here are the votes from my old denim pals. I had a tough time deciding, I really like them all and everyone did a great job busting them up and posting interesting life stories. I was going between these four for ages, Chris, Corp, Ukeno and Philipong. It was the crazy front combs that got me in the end.

Thank you so much guys for your support and all the people who donated to the quake fund. I really couldn't have got back up and running without all your help. It's been a crazy couple of years. The contest jeans are very special to me as that roll of denim was literally all that was left after the quake and when the first order came in I had about fifty bucks in the bank, with rent looming! So it was tight, haha. Truly thankful guys!!!

  12. Hey guys! Woah, Christmas got away on me again, it always sneaks up and gets super busy huh, friends, family, food and booze. Good times. I will put up the contest winner very soon, had a few votes in from denim head sufuer's.

Here are my brothers little foxies having a Christmas day play fight, they are best buds. Vinnie, the black and white guy had an Elf hat, but he ditched it, haha.

  13. Hello lads. Cool, everyone has posted up their pictures. I have just compiled a sort of pin up board of everyones best shots as a guide to get an overall view of things. I am going to get some votes from a few denimheads, as I have gotten to know you guys over the year I think it will be a fairer way to go.

  14. Excellent philipong! Crazy hard working wear on those jeans. That fish is amazing, what kind of fish is it? At pretty much every NZ fish 'n Chip shop they have this poster of all the kinds of local water fish....I had F n'C's last night and was staring at the poster for ages trying to see if there was anything like that one, haha.

  15. Cool, I love Brighton. Haven't spent loads of time there, but keen to go back one day. One of my good mates moved to Hove a couple years ago, so you may see a tall, greyish fellow on the train with AW's on, he has heaps of pairs, haha.

Mr. Philip Ong, yeah we need to get things wrapped up, give you a couple more days to post up fella.

  16. Looking really good fellas! Is everyone in? Who have we got yet to post? I wish I was at the one year mark like you guys, I have been wearing a pair of Caribou's for four months since I tweaked the patterns.

Ukeno, you are in Brighton yeah?

  17. Hi Fellas. Do you think we need to make a cut off date for photos?

About four - five months ago I tweaked the patterns a little bit. Changed the curves through the front and back rise, which I think makes the fit slightly better. I also juggled the back pocket sizes so they are smaller.
