  1. Did you get em' yet Rob?

I have just been updating the website a bit with new flat photos. I always like the flat side profile shots, so you can see the changes through the different cuts. Some of the photo pairs are on the site for sale too.

In the next month I will get in the first of the special roll denim, will post up some pic's when the denim comes in....natural.

  2. Shit Noodle you wore through the crotch pretty darn quick! It takes me about one and half years before I need to patch up, did it yesterday on my old 15ozers actually, fairly crappy job but will do the trick for another year. That denim should be there soon, it's been a while. Customs can be a headache in Canada sometimes.

Good work fellas, loving the pic's. Would love to go to the Natural HIstory Museum one day and the Smithsonian.

  3. Nice one Chris!

Yeah there 'aint much going on here groove. It's amazing the central city is still cordoned off after 11 months. My new place is a couple blocks from town, the end of the street is fenced off. I go for walks around the cordon a couple times a week, fairly depressing.

Robot. Hope you get some freshies in Vermont and get some tree runs. There is something special about going up the mountain, must be all the freezing air to the brain :)

Somewhat unrelated, but interesting nonetheless. Lonely Planet has a free downloadable guide for Christchurch post-earthquake.

  4. I found these over at the Hall of Fade website by Toshi Surapong and had to post them up. Awesome job Toshi! I do believe they are they old DLX model, that denim was fairly streaky and interesting.

  5. Completely missed this post Noodle, big Duke is awesome! I had this friend in primary school that was from Calgary. I had tea at his house once, the first time I had tried chili, the whole family were laughing at me sweating it out. His prized possession was a Calgary flames puck he scored from a game.

The big Duke doesn't know what to do, shed or grow more fur. d5d5fe20.jpg

  6. Sorry mate. Just e-mailed you. Monday morn, went to a music festival in a small town up the coast for the weekend. First time out of quakey town, was great.

My inquiry is about his payment,i would like to pay him not through paypal because my account is limited now and pp has blocked my cards that was added to my account,pp sucks...

  7. Yeah those fresh spring rolls are the biz.

A mate took some shots of me for an interview with Rawr denim blog, just clowning around. There was some more with seriously stupid-lame ninja, samurai scissor moves, but to embarrassed to post em.

  8. Ande,

I know you're still getting back on your feet right now but do you have any plans to work with naturally dyed indigo in the future? I'd like to get some natural indigos at some stage (no rush though) and would hold out for a pair in your buffalo cut.

    Cheers

Hey Maynard. Yeah I plan on bringing in odd rolls of denim for the Special Roll thing and try out some of the other cool denim available. Like the contest a roll makes 20-21 pairs, so will try and do a quite a few per year depending on busy-ness. They have some amazing natural indigo that I was going to get in next order actually.

  9. Hi chaps! Good on you for posting pictures, looking good. I keep trying to make myself a pair of the new ones, the end of the last denim roll I made a pair of Buffalo shorts, jorts. I did cut the front pocket bags fairly shallow, I like the easy access to pocket stuff, but have increased the length 10mm, so just a tad deeper. It's been really hot in Christchurch recently, a bit cooler today and raining, sweet. I have been sewing in shorts and t-shirt. My old sewing teacher always told me off for wearing jandals to class, it's my own stupid fault if I drop shears on my foot. Thanks for all the support over the crazy year of 2011 fellas! Looking forward to 2012 and making new stuff! Have a good NYE dudes, drink and be merry.

  10. hi guys, yeah i'm ok, a bit ruffled, haha. thanks for the concern fellas. It's crazy that it keeps happening, some experts say it's not following the usual patterns, I don't know, it's very weird and frustrating. I had sent some jeans in the morning, did some Xmas shopping then went out for lunch with a buddy over from the gold coast. When the bigger one hit I was waiting outside the cafe, underneath all this scaffolding having a cig, fairly dodgy place to be standing, but took off into the middle of the road in the usual surfers stance looking out for flying bricks etc. My poor old tv fell off the cabinet again, it still goes thank goodness! It's good my workshop is in the garage now so I know everything is ok.

  11. Hey noodle. I do get asked about different denims and weights etc. I always pick the denim on feel and weave, not so much weight. I like denim that is crispy with an interesting weave. A lot of the time the listed weight lacks any real description of the denim. I have a sample of a 21oz denim that feels soft and "floppy" with a very uniform weave and zero slub, so it's a denim I wouldn't use personally. It's certainly thicker and heavier, but feels lighter than the 13.5oz due to it's looser weave.

Just before the quake I was working on Special Roll versions, so I will get that started again next year. There are some amazing denims available. There is one I have taken a fancy to, most probably the first special roll, it's a natural indigo, very cool weave and not super dark...it looks amazing. There is a really dark green denim that fades to a brighter shade of jade green, thats fairly interesting too. Also loads and loads of other great indigo's too. When I got the new swatch cards it was like a kid at a candy store, a lot of the same denims but I hadn't seen them for months.

Oh lovin the T so far.

Throwing it out there, would anyone be interested if Ande did a Heavy weight run? Like 21oz. I only ask because when we first started talking about this contest and the Denim was picked (originally). The denim reminded me of the Denim Naked & Famous used for their BIG collab. It can't be too much of a stretch to assume that the same mill produced the original denim for the contest. Or at least one close by or one that was affiliated. So if it was offered would anyone take is all I'm asking. Ande hasn't said anything and I don't even know if "he" would be interested. I am just a sucker for heavier denim (probably a factor of where I live - Alberta).

  12. Hey guys, hope all is well and everyone has got some fun times planned for chrimbo.

Yeah most guys are on Sufu, I mentioned to the non sufuer buyers they can sign up if they wanted to compete or send me their photos.

The t-shirt design is looking cool, sorry Chris keep meaning to e-mail you.
