  1. I've got a sweet Uniqlo backpack that I got in Nagoya, Japan. I also bought like 5 fleeces for next to nothing in Japan but I didn't bring them back. Somehow I don't think it will be the same in America....

  2. If the 45rpm store doesn't take returns, I wouldn't buy them without trying them on. No matter how nice the denim on a pair of jeans is, if they don't fit perfectly you'll never like wearing them. I am lucky enough to live in NYC and once I went to their store and saw the denim, I thought it was great. Then, I tried them on and realized that they fit me terribly. Now I don't even think twice about going there anymore.

  3. I like Silas and their simple everyday designs, but given the quality, the price is ridiculously high. Its like high price clothing that I can find at the Gap. If I have to pick a plain UK brand, I'm going with One True Saxon.

  4. I've got a size 30 in the Howies OSD. They fit fairly true to size, but the legs are straighter and a little looser than your average 501 replica. Ring Ring was correct in that they are narrow in the hips.

  5. Just cause a guy has enough money to shop at W)taps, Neighborhood, etc. (and lives near the stores for that matter) doesn't mean he has style. You are confusing brands with style. This Yosuke dude looks the same as every other streetwear fashion wannabe. In my opinion, you gotta be pushing a look that nobody else is rocking to be considered stylish.

  6. I haven't even worn them yet so no washing yet either. I'm contemplating sending them back just because I'd like to wear the hell out of them but since I work in an office, I really won't get a chance to do it. If anyone is interested, I can let them go for $US75 (I originally paid 50pounds shipped to New York) Its gonna cost me a fair bit to send them back to the UK from NYC so I could set up an auction on ebay if anyone is interested in them. They are great jeans and its a shame that I won't ever get to break them in. Hmmm....maybe I should keep them....Howies you're making this too hard!

  7. Stussy, Xlarge and Bathing Ape are the kings of rip-off/parodies. I've got a Stucci bag, Stucci t-shirt, Stendi No. 4 t-shirt, Stuie Vuitton sweatshirt, an XL jacket made to look like LV, an XLarge bag made to look like a crooked Burberry print, a Bape t-shirt that looks like an American Express card, and Bape Stas.

Now if Xlarge, Stussy and Bape don't deserve a litte of their own medicine, I don't know who does.

  8. I like them alot, but I've got too many jeans at the moment so I'll never get a chance to wear them in. They've got a great subtle pattern on the back right pocket though and other than that, they are very clean looking. The selvage is redline and thinner than most. The fit is a little straighter and wider (but not much) than a 501 Repro. I'll try to take pics sometime.

  9. I'm not sure what A&F jeans you've been looking at but the PRPS jeans I got don't look anything like A&F. There is no distressing whatsoever and they have a somewhat starched wrinkled finish. The pics on beinghunted are good but its not quite the same until you seen it in person. In fact, I can't think of anyone who makes a comparable wash/finish (I'm sure there is someone out there who does but I can't come up with a name).

Don't get me wrong, PRPS makes some lame clothing. Sometimes you just see a garment that you like though, regardless of the brand, and this pair of jeans fit that category.

  10. The pair I got are just normal jeans. That's basically the reason I was willing to get them. I liked the wash (one wash/wrinkle finish) and the denim so I decided it was worth a try. I don't like their other "fashion" jeans though, as I find them to be way too contrived and overly distressed. The pair I got was $186 (without tax) I think.

  11. I lived in Carroll Gardens (3rd Place and Clinton) and it was amazing. I had the whole first floor of a brownstone to myself. Unfortunately the owner of the building sold it, so I had to move out. I thought about renting again in the Carroll Gardens/Cobble Hill Area but the prices had gone up too high. For perspective, I was paying $1200 for my Carroll Gardens apartment, a lease that I signed in April 2003. I chose the $1200 apartment in April 2003 after I looked at about 10-15 apartments in Cobble Hill/Carroll Gardens, all for $1500 or less. When I went apartment hunting in the Fall of 2004, the same apartments were between $1600-$1800. Brooklyn has BLOWN UP since Corcoran and all of the other major realtors have bought out the small realtors of Brooklyn. To sign my first lease in Brooklyn, I used Ross Realty on Court St. When I went back last fall, they had been bought out by Corcoran. I learned afterwards that there were very few small realtors left in Brooklyn. Bummer.

I've since moved to 23rd St. on Manhattan and there is a rather large jump in convenience in Manhattan. The funny thing is though, I never thought brooklyn was inconvenient until I lived in Manhattan. I miss the quiet streets of Brooklyn and walking down Court Street into Cobble Hill/Brooklyn Heights. I don't miss the F Train one bit -- that train was such a hassle, day and night.

  12. Believe it or not, I got them at bloomingdales Soho. I felt like a chump getting em from there but whatever. I was waiting outside the bathroom for my girlfriend and I started looking around and then I saw them so I gave them a try. I've worn them 4 times now and my only regret is that I wish they were just a little slimmer up top (thighs/front of crotch). The rest of the leg is great though.

  13. I didn't buy a pair so pics will be hard to come by. The store isn't out of the way if you're a New Yorker though so I'd suggest checking them out.

MHI selvage jeans are nice. Rather heavy denim (14 ounce at least) with camo lining and selvage seam. They are a rather baggy skater type fit though so if you're a slim/regular fit wearing guy they may not be for you. I got them on sale for $120 but I would never pay more than $120 for them.

  14. I picked up a pair of dark indigo PRPS from the new collection last weekend. They are fantastic. They are not selvage, and they have a little bit of a permanent wrinkle to them but it is very natural and subdued. The were $190. I saw the selvage pair too -- they are great, but they cost $285. $190 is already too much so I didn't splurge for the selvage.

I'll agree that much of the PRPS range is WAY too contrived and distressed. However, the pieces that aren't distressed feel extremely well made and have a great fit. My legs never take very well to the 501 replicas so the somewhat wider PRPS fit is great for me. I only wear jeans once a week (work in an office) but I would probably buy another pair of PRPS jeans, providing that they aren't all fake/distressed. The purple selvage is great. I don't think anyone should comment on any jeans unless they have first hand experience. I like these better than my APC English fits (no I'm not going to stop wearing my APC's).

  15. RRL selvage jeans are once again for sale at the Polo store on West Broadway. I saw 2 fits yesterday with 2 different washes (one raw, one distressed): Slim Bootcut and a straight fit, which looked sort of like the APC english cut. They were both around $175 I think.

  16. I'm pretty sure the Nike Dunk is approaching Von Dutch status in our scene.

Maha/MHI is a little too obscure to get Von Dutch status. Even if lots of people know the brand exists, the masses still don't have immediate access to it for reasons such as price/only sold in a few stores.
