  1. The reason I started buying premium denim (let's stop saying raw for this discussion, shall we?) because I found that I could not get the cut I liked from the lower priced options anymore. Japanese kids (and companies) weren't anywhere on my radar in NYC, I just knew how I wanted jeans to fit and how hard it was to get the stuff I liked.

I have no problem with the prices these things cost, I have fully investigated the options out there and I know the things I buy are worth it to me. I just question people buying things solely becuase they are expensive and hard to find, like that buys them membership into a secret society. HIgh prices + artificial rarity creates a negative culture/scene pretty quickly, as we have seen again and with sneakers, sports cards, records, comics, and on and on. I hate the way the sneaker culture was ruined, and it would be a shame if the same thing happened again (to many of the same people), even if I don't really have a dog in this fight.

  2. FWIW, I don't have any problem with people like Kiya/SE, Gordon/BiG etc. They have been into this stuff for many years, obviously have a lot of love and passion for what they are doing, and they are putting it to use to further the art and expose the things they think are cool to a wider audience who has an appreciation for it. And I doubt that these smaller companies are making these products with dollar signs in their eyes the way Nike does with their "limited editions". The only problem I have is with the way these products are consumed by a group of people (and I don't exclude myself) who are getting swept up in the excitement of discovering these things and maybe using less discretion and thought about what they buy.

It's your money and more power to you if you find enough value in that $1000 Mr. Freedom jacket to justify the cost, but I think that somewhere not too far down the line people really are going to look at their closets and realize they have become the Sportsfreak of retro-nostalgic American gear.

I suppose the big difference is that there have been people collecting this stuff for many years, but all of these new companies are rushing in to fill this demand, and I think it's going to shake out similarly to the way there were suddenly dozens of streetwear companies after the sneaker boom, an 90% of them have gone under or moved on to other things already. Hopefully these new boutiques and designers opening up shop are better managed to handle things when the wave crests, because it's coming.

  3. Same here. I wish that had released yesterday instead. I'm not sure why they're holding it so long - there's hardly anything left from the preview besides it, the leather vest and the camo thermal zip hoodie. (off the top of my head, at least).

Also the suede front sweater, and the gingham flannel which I have been waiting on.

  4. I have increasing felt like nike talk has over taken sufu.

This is so true. People still have this uncontrollable need to amass collections of the rarest or the most or the "best" shit that other people can't find. They still love being asked "Where'd You Get Those?", they've just changed obsessions to something 17 year olds aren't interested in.

  5. NIce pics Haga, don't know if you've seen this but since you work in a warehouse you'll probably appreciate it:

    <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjOvI0TOx98&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjOvI0TOx98&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

  6. JDS, you really think they would fit us 12ers?I'm a bit skeptical, but they are fire, so I must know.

I don't have Serras, but in my exp with Visvim boots (I have Fangs and Nam-Juns) they always run at least 1/2 size big, if not more. Is it worth an expensive gamble? For you to decide...

  7. Well, it's not like they are selling hundreds of pairs of these limited editions. I'm pretty sure that most of the limited stuff SE and BIG has made has been less than 200 pairs of each style, probably way less. I look at it as more of a promotional thing for the brands, shit for collectors and whatnot. I'd guess that the new products that are of real import to these brands and stores become part of their main lines, not one offs.

  8. They are screenprinted in Brooklyn, at least they were as of a couple seasons ago, so is Recon. Maybe that's changed recently?

Speaking of which, I am continually disappointed by the quality of the prints when Supreme does photographic tees. Saw the Coltrane stuff in store today and decided to skip just like I did with the Miles and Ari Maricopoulos stuff. It just doesn't look good up close.

Still no ombre flannels or Divine Mercy, work shirts are nice and thick for cold weather.

  9. The good news is, I've lost 45 pounds. The bad news is I now have a bunch of nice denim that doesn't fit me at all anymore. This stuff is just taking up space in my closet, surely someone wants these for cheap:

Samurais are gone, someone take these Eternals. No reasonable offer will be refused

    Eternal 811 Sz 40

These are the original shorter inseam version of the 811 from a few years ago. These were baught one washed and have been washed once since then. Inseam approx 33, Waist approx 39. These were tapered a bit to 8.25" at the hem, and unfortunately the tailor cut off the selvage outseam, but the job was professionally done and if you don't cuff your jeans you'll never notice the difference. These are barely worn, steal them for $100.

All prices include shipping in the USA, overseas shipping can be arranged easily. I accept payment via Paypal or Money Order. Paypal fees are NOT included, so send payment as a gift or add the 4%. If you have any questions or want to make offers, feel free to send me a PM. Thanks!

  10. Not having a Facebook, or at least keeping a very limited presence on there is a great way to build curiosity in women. They will be dying to know why you aren't sharing every stupid detail of your life like everyone else, and you keep from inadvertently salting up your own game in the process.

  11. ^Too Sexy

anyone know if theres any shops in NY selling visvim keifers right now?

There's no shops in NY selling Visvim anything anymore, unless Flight Club has a random pair.

  12. When people fill the sink with water and soap for dirty dishes, and then, me consequently having to dig into the sink to drain out the water, with the dishes still in the sink.

My wife does this consistently despite telling her to please not do it. She says it's a British thing. I call bullshit.

I hate having to wait for someone to return an important work-related call. Can't take lunch until I get this call and I'm starving.

  13. Word. You blew it with this one, but if she's a virgin your chances (or anyone else's FWIW) of just being fuck buddies was almost non-existent anyway. If you're a virgin you probably aren't ready to be FWB with anyone either. That's not a diss, it takes some experience to learn how you deal with sex, and how well you can disassociate being physical with someone with having deeper feelings for them. Not everyone can do it...

Anyway, don't spend time worrying about it. You are a freshman in college, go out and enjoy the plethora of options out there. Tying yourself to one girl in your first month would be a waste anyway.
