I'm hoping that the 47s will be okay without another wash because I gave them a properly hot soak, whereas I went really light at first on the 54s to avoid shrinking the already too-short inseam too much

Hi again, Hope it's all right if I post more ill-lit fit pics. These are my 1954 501z, which I've had for nearly a year at this point. But they've been somewhat neglected because I never quite liked the fit. (Approx. 5 months actual wear, initial hot soak and two subsequent machine washes) I got them for a song on eBay, but had to go for the 30/32, which as you can see is a tad short. They fit pretty well until recently when I wound up washing them in an extremely hot machine at the local laundromat. Two days active wear stretched them back out somewhat, but the thighs and waist are kind of killing me. But all this being said, the denim is wonderful. When I have access to a better camera and lighting setup over the holidays I'd like to include some closeups on the denim, because I really really like how it looks. I don't know if I'll end up wearing these enough to get really cool fades ever, but now they look like a relatively respectable broken-in pair. Thanks for being so welcoming to a new sufu-er, I can't believe it took me this long to get involved.

I've met the designer... can't remember his name, but he seemed awesome and dedicated and I also want to check out his stuff!

@beautiful_FrEaK the only laundromat in town (I'm living in the middle of nowhere) only has machines that get insanely hot. They shrank my sanforized Burgus Plus 770 to an unwearable size, so I might have to wait about a month to get to machine that I can make hot, but not scalding. But I definitely will once I can.

Hey friendos, You were definitely right about sizing up in the 47s! But here they are and I love them so goddamn much. I don't know why I waited this long to get a pair, but I'm happy I finally did. Can't do measurements cuz I don't have my measuring tape with me here, but if people are interested I can def do that when I'm home for the holidays. I soaked them in hot water in the sink for 30 minutes, so I suspect there's a little more these can still shrink, which is probably good as I can already feel the waist starting to stretch after a full day of wear. These seem quite a bit crunchier than I remember my 54s being, which I like and the higher rise and fuller seat make for a much better fit. And the straight leg means I can wear my Eat Dust/Red Wing collab pecos with them! But thanks again to all of you for helping me find the right size.

Yo, the price match is good for up to 14 days after your order!!

47s en route to my current home in France and I couldn't help myself and ordered the 66s, which I had sent to my parent's house in CA, so I can pick those up at xmas time! I'm so psyched to finally do the LVC thing right. I've loved Cone denim since I briefly interned at Rising Sun & Co. and in terms of fit, my 501 stf have always been my favorite, no matter how much I tried to spend (I learned the hard way that I don't fit into any of the trendy brands like RGT or 3sixteen). While I was working on my senior thesis last year (which I wrote on Levi's jeans and masculinity in the 50s) I got some 1954 501z to get in the spirit, but was totally disappointed with the fit. I knew they were going to be slim-tapered, but I didn't realize how unlike the original 1950s style they would be. So now I'll have the 47s when I want to do a Brando vibe and the 66s when I'm feeling more McQueen. Also, totally loving this sufu thing.

Sorry it's kinda low-res and far away. Someday I'll convince someone with a decent camera to take pics of me. Vintage Lee Storm Rider Army surplus sweater Left Field Black Maria Greaser (15 oz Xinjiang) Eat Dust/ Red Wing Collab Pecos

Aw heck, I just bought a pair of '47s on grailed and now I'm being tempted with the '66s. Does the 66 typically fit true to size? I know you guys counseled me to go one size up in the 47s (which I did).
  12. Levi's Vintage Clothing

@free2hear and @propellerbeanie, thanks for all the advice, I'm thinking I might try a 30 when I can get a code that works/ use a proxy
  13. Levi's Vintage Clothing

@Maynard Friedman, I can't get the damn code to work unfortunately.
  14. Levi's Vintage Clothing

Damn, @propellerbeanie, that is crazy helpful! And those measurements look like they'd work really well for me! What is your regular STF measurement, if you don't mind me asking?
  15. Levi's Vintage Clothing

@beautiful_FrEaK I just tried, the code doesn't work! I saw a sizing chart on Context clothing that kind of helps. The 31 would probably be a good rise and thigh, but too wide a waist. If I come across them for a reasonable price/ get my paycheck from the French powers-that-be, it would be a good idea to check out both, like you suggest @Cucoo. But I definitely want a pair now more than ever with the news about Cone Mills closing. I only bought the 501z last year because it was slightly less expensive BNWT on eBay than the 47s. But the 501z wound up being so much more tapered than I had imagined, I can't wear any of my serious boots with them.
