    These are awesome!

i wish I could get my Momotaros to look like that-it's the favourite pair of Monotaros I've seen to date(I like mine, but after only a year they're just amateurs)- hope in a years time I can produce similar fades!

just eat ramen for the rest of the year. Your clothing budget can then expand

    Good idea!

ive been living on pasta for both lunch and dinner recently to fund my denim habit, as so many on SUFU have such Amazing denim collections-I've only got 8 pairs and I'd like another dozen raw denim jeans and jackets so that I can concentrate on a couple of pairs, but intersperse the other 18 when I feel like a change..of course like everyone I'd keep some pristine (!!!), but eventually, when some wore out, I could start on the next pair, worn or unworn..

  3. I might sell these as they never seem to fade-if they're too small to sell I'll have to do it myself...

i wish i sh I could get the awesome rips and tears and fades everyone else does.

My Momotaros are coming on OK, but they're only one year, the 3x1 jeans are 3 years old and hardly look much different, except a lot lighter(they have a black weft), and the actual denim itself feels like it's very old...

hopefully I'll get better results with my Momotaros, although I may still have the 3x1 in 3 years time at this rate!

  4. Just

1)Levis Acid wash denim jacket in size XS

2)bespoke pair in Japan Blue 22.5oz denim

then I'll have 10 pieces-9 jeans and a denim jacket and time for a ban!

i was aiming for 20 pairs of jeans, but I'd never get to wear them all...

I really regret selling my size S Levis trucker but I lost a lot of weight and now need size XS

i can't find the wash I want, so either I wait, or buy a similar jacket in another brand....

I've found a BNWT grey acid wash XS Levis jacket, but I Really wanted a blue one.

not sure what to do as Levis currently aren't doing acid wash...wait for a new blue one or get the grey one ?

i wanted to keep it a long time so I guess hang out for a blue one...but I'm naturally impatient and the grey one is a good cut for me..???

  6. @Rika

    yes, I've had 4 pairs of N and F

skinny Girl Glow in the Dark

skinny Girl rich blue stretch(mystery pair!!!)

    leggy girl cashmere stretch

    leggy girl super Slub stretch

basically,,you get what you pay for..

theyre fun, gimmicky jeans at reasonable prices

unfortunately, the cut that fit me best, leggy girl was discontinued..

but don't get them if you're looking for a long term project as I never got a pair to wear as far as a year even!

  7. @ajchen

    your jeans are spectacular!

the reason I haven't been posting for a week is that I've been reading all the 3sixteen thread(!!!)-your jeans are the best.

but your pair are the best faded pair I've seen-guess that makes sense really...

hope my 577bsp lasts 2 years!

  8. My neighbor/friend is a professional seamstress who says that it's harder to do a denim repair than make a pair of curtains from scratch!

she altered my 3x1, but they still don't feel right, in the past she's done lots of repairs and even acid washed a pair (?), and tomorrow I'm taking round an unfinished pair of Japanese selvedge jeans from 2015(long story ), but I very much doubt she can do anything with the top block, although the legs are fine.

what a waste of good denim...sigh-I'll write if she can do it, but I think it's more work than it's worth, better to buy a new pair(s)

  9. Some great boots!

i have custom brogues from 2008, custom boots from both 2012 and 2014, and I'm having another pair of boots made...

my my shoes were recently resoled and heeled and came back looking like new, the 2012 boots sadly weren't done very well and I haven't worn through the soles of the 2014 boots yet..

i can't wait for my next boots but they take ages to make and I have a long wish list as well as my denim (shirts,,coat etc), so I don't expect to get them this year...

here are the shoes before mending,,and the 2 boots (the black ones are the 2012 pair and well worn I'm now but hopefully plenty more years from all of them!

apart from my navy suede house slippers this is the only footwear I own.

    I'm on my 7th pair of 3sixteen+!

The first pair I had copied in other denims, 7 times, to perfect the fit..

i just received my most recent pair this month and already they're my favourite jeans, although the 7th copy of the first pair is still being made, so I've great hopes.

i really wanted custom 3sixteens, but they don't exist, which is why I copied them...they don't do the Kuroki 17oz shadow denim in my size, or I'd grab them!

Looking forward to wearing my new pair to rags...but I'm currently working on Momotaros which I've had for a year but are now too big due to weight loss, the 3sixteen+ fits well but I could have sized down one except it doesn't exist!

Just to make it clear, I wasn't "copying " 3sixteen+!

im very small and needed bespoke jeans but couldn't get there, so sent my best fitting jeans, the worn out 3sixteen+-first of 7 pairs I've had), to be copied.

The first copy were by far the best jeans I've ever owned, I've now got new 3sixteen+, plus the 7th copy of the first pair I had being made, which I actually got fitted for and haven't changed size since the first pair in 2011, which amazed me..

i asked Kiya if 3sixteen would do a custom order as they have some amazing denims that don't come in my size, but they don't so I have to have them made locally where at least I can be fitted.

but 3sixteen is my favourite off the peg brand!

Thanks for bumping this thread, I'd completely forgotten about this exchange and what a dick Double 0 Soul was.

3.5 years later I still track my wears and I've never regretted it. However I don't really track washes and I can't even recall of the top of my head how many my ST-120x had.

Personally I don't care about trying to be "authentic" and emulate James Dean/Marlon Brando/etc. These guys are really cool and all, but they wore jeans because that's what happened to be around, or they wanted to make some kind of rebellious statement. They were a totally different sort than guys interested in raw denim in the 21st century, and on top of that they were actors, which makes trying to piece together some sort of authentic image/philosophy a bit ridiculous. I don't care about any of that stuff, I'm a hobbyist, and if it wasn't for hobbyists then selvedge denim would be extinct. Being a hobbyist is no more ridiculous than constructing a $2500 coal miner cosplay while trying incredibly hard to seem like you aren't trying hard.

At then end of the day, the reasonable conclusion is that there are a lot of different ways to enjoy nice jeans/mens clothing that really comes down to personal preference rather than some abstract philosophy.

    Everyone has their "thing"

raw denim is an evolving thing, and a very rewarding passion

ive documented every pair I've owned since 2011(Too many, lots sold!)

  13. Those black Samurais are the best black jeans I've ever seen..

the he best I've ever owned were 13oz Kaihara resin coated double black denim, but my weight changed and I don't have them.

would like another pair of those one day..

have also had black Nudies, but didn't like them

  14. 3 years is my record as I wear through the knees...

before i I discovered raw denim it was 11 months

the 3 year old pair still have plenty of wear in them, so hoping to increase my record even more...

theyre 3x1 bespoke XX297 Blue Selvage charcoal grey warp black weft and the denim never goes into holes, but recently I had a major alteration done and doubt I'll either want or be able to wear them after 4 years...

  15. I have a couple of interesting books

150 years of denim (in French) coffee table book from when I was living in Paris

indigo-the colour that changed the world

however many times I read them, I always find something new

  16. The pair I had copied from my first 3sixteen+ Cone jeans in Kurabo shadow 14oz denim

at the time they couldn't be washed because they were my only jeans but I literally wore them to rags.

if I could have them again I would...

  17. Collect (Japan Blue Group) 22.5oz double indigo (warp and weft) denim, sadly available with a minimum order of 500-1000m!

    Heavywight jeans for life!

Wish I could afford enough for 200+ pairs of jeans that were unique to me, sadly will have to settle for deep blue warp white weft 22.5oz denim, which should be awesome as well...
