Thanks a lot. Sounds like the right fit for me. My main problem with the old Nomin was difficulty pulling the zippers around the corners. Hopefully the straps are more secure. My old pack straps would constantly slip in the ladderlock.

I was quoted by an Arc employee that the pack is also 26L. Is that true? The pictures makes it look considerably smaller.

I'll check it out in store this weekend.

that was for the old version I believe. it feels like it packs a bit less imo because of how small the back compartment became. Also I experienced some difficulty pulling zippers around the corners on the new one as well at one point i thought if I pulled any harder I would damage the zipper.

Anyone with experience with the Nomin pack? Interested to know what the new features are.

Scroll back a couple pages @branespload went over it but for quick recap the nomin back pack is now a glorified laptop bag.

-new straps feels like it has a bit more padding from my experience and it covers the adjustable section now. Personally the new strap is a pain in the ass to adjust.

-The front compartment is now the main storage/where you shove all your stuff into in an orderly fashion. It opens up completely rather than opening up sideways. No more "floating" pocket.

-back compartment opens up asymmetrically now and has a quick access pocket on the top. Has a laptop sleeve and document holder. It's annoying how if you open the bag from the top you can only access the quick access pocket and not the rest of the compartment, you actually have to completely unzip it to access the rest of the compartment. Another annoying fact is that you can only access it the laptop sleeve on one side hence if you sling the bag from your left shoulder to your chest you can't access it whatsoever.

-no more side tab to hold it like a briefcase.

-top pull tab feels more solid now

-new shape is more rounded and "flatter"

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong this is all based on my experience with the bag for a day and some reviews I've read online.

I had to send back in a pair of first gen voronoi AR that had the fabric durability issues, but I sent them back through an Arcteryx store and they ended up with a regular arcteryx rep who told me they were too worn/faded to be covered under warranty and after some haggling I got a 50% coupon, but I asked a few times and never spoke with a true AV rep so I'm not sure if the rep was right or I just got unlucky. I was a little bummed in the first place that I didnt get better CS because I've had several mainline arcteryx things replaced/updated with current models no questions asked, but overall I've been pretty happy with their CS and they have actually called me back when i've left messages on the AV phone line.

Received the same response when I sent my voronoi AR a month ago. Decided to just let it go and use tenacious tape, bad luck I guess for us

Wow that is horrible. So the glue didn't fix the problem at all?

When you received them back from the shoe guy, they weren't up to your standards and you peeled it? Or did they just not hold up.

it probably didn't held up if he was able to peel it off. In your case why not give barge cement glue a try it holds tighter than super glue.

Can anyone tell me if the Field pant stretches out at all? I'm not referring to the stretchiness of the fabric, but more to the overall fit - if it is a snug fit brand new, will it loosen up similar to jeans or other Veilance cotton pants?

I purchased both the peat and black, in a 30 and 31. Love them, Great fit, fabric feels super comfortable. Not as baggy as some of the fit pics I saw online were.

it won't given that it's a 3L gore windstopper however it will soften up a bit overtime.

Thanks @TEKsevenZERO and @Toilettebun. I placed my order.

For anyone else in Canada thinking of getting Level Runners, ordering them directly from RO is over $300 cheaper than buying them retail in Canada. There might be some fees on import, but it won't be that much.

from what I remember with ordering directly from RO is expect atleast an extra 30% of the total price you paid for fees and duties.

I currently work at Arc'teryx and I'm looking to purchase and then sell some items to help cover some bills.

I can get anything from this season or S/S for a sizeable discount.

    Message me for details.

and this is how you get fired

    Ok, follow up.

I may have the budget for one of these two shoes, but really can't decide. Anyone want to weight in?

I'm trying to decide between the new "black" Level Runner or these original Tech Runners:

Go for the level runners, I love those tech runners but I couldn't wear them for a whole day straight

Speaking of WS I think my J58 is due for a wash, do you have to be any more careful with it because of the climashield filling, wouldn't want it bunching

Put tennis balls or dryer balls when you pop it in the dryer to refluff the filling

Tried them on last week, personally I'm not a fan. The upper / thigh is okay but there's no taper from the knee down, which I can't stand. Far too straight fitting for me, but I know I'm really picky when it comes to the fit of trousers. I liked the construction; the patterning for the cargo pocket and rear is real nice and I quite liked the feel of the lined Goretex.

It's a shame because I was real hopeful for these. My search for a pair of trousers continues.

Any advice for a (very) tapered pair of trousers that are cargo-esque / have interesting construction? Might try and pick up a pair of apparats. I remember liking them a few seasons ago but was hoping for something that isn't cropped, if possible. Sometimes I find it tricky to wear cropped trousers with high trainers / boots.

I would recommend the Stowe pants from mainline! You don't notice cargo pockets from a visual and physical perspective. The pockets have never felt heavy or imbalance and I've always carried my phone and wallet in them. The pants do require a bit more tapering if you're a fan of heavy tapers but the thigh section had enough space albeit I went a size up and I wear shorts underneath.

If you thought the thigh region was decent on the field pants you'll be dissapointed on the apparats.

Damn, I was wondering why Voronoi's price has been stable at 400 instead of increasing like almost everything else, guess we know why now.

I believe all the pants prices have been relatively stable for the past couple of seasons

  13. Wide hipped big butt bro here I retract my previous statement about the Haedn jacket's fit after trying it on multiple times, it does not fit good whatsoever. It fits huge and I have wider features (broader shoulders, beer tummy,  and essentially a wider frame) and I cannot fill it in. The shoulder and waist are pretty loose especially for a medium. I haven't tried sizing down yet but going tts on the haedn jacket seems to be a nono.

  14. 3 hours ago, junkie_dolphin said:

This was alluded to by branespload earlier, but the pocket at the top of the laptop compartment is actually fixed to the frame sheet via velcro, and can be detached so that the pocket can be pushed forward, providing more room for a laptop. In other words, laptop capacity is the same or greater than the old Nomin.

A couple of other thoughts about the current season, having handled all the new pieces pretty extensively (except for the Mionn Pullover):

    1. Where I am, the star of the season has been the Haedn Jacket. It doesn't look good on me, but if you don't have a skinny neck like mine you'll probably have better luck. My biggest gripe is that the zipper pull has the "Veilance" logo on it, which kills any possibility of CPU-status. On top of that, I keep asking: who is this imaginary guy they're sizing for, with the crazy-wide hips?? The waistbands on both the Nemis and the Haedn Jacket are super-loose on me. Even my wide-hipped bros aren't filling those waistbands out.

    2. It may simply be that I've gained weight, but the Mionn IS and the Graph Cardigan both feel significantly slimmer than last year. I'd be curious to know if anyone else has noticed this. One other person I know has mentioned it, but I'm not sure.

    3. The Haedn Overshirt might be my favourite new piece. It's incredibly soft, looks great (like a wool chore jacket), and there's some really clever pattern-making going on there, especially around the cuffs. The buttons are blessedly not the slide-locking ones.

    4. The Field Pant is getting a lot of love, but man, so swishy.

    5. The Seque has had a small change in the form of a pull tab that you can hold onto while zipping/unzipping. This actually improves the usability of the pack considerably; it's a nice reminder that they're actually paying attention to the little details.

    6. Wallets were supposed to come next season; not sure why they're here early.

    7. The Patrol Down is stupid-warm. Like, debilitatingly warm. I live in a very cold place, and this thing will be too warm. I wish they'd brought back the Patrol IS instead.

1: Wide hipped and big butt bro here the haedn jacket is a blessing from the gods themselves. It fits fantastic for us big bottom folks and long torso folks. After trying this with a friend the haedn jacket looks much better on long torso folks such as myself.

2: Felt the same way about the Mionn IS but not too much on the graph cardigan, I've always felt it fit tight so I can't comment too much on the fit.

3: The haedn overshirt on the other hand is also an amazing piece but works better for people with shorter torso. However I still felt the price points for the haedn line is a tad bit excessive granted they are amazing pieces.

4: Love the field pants but they are quite noisy. I was surprised of how thick it is was expecting along the lines of indisce pants thickness but it felt a tad thicker.

Has anyone noticed the price increase season after season.

The nomin backpack is now $980CAD vs originally $550CAD. almost doubled in price. It is harder to justify paying that much for similar pieces from past seasons.

That 2x price increase for reshaping the nomin slightly (no more corners) and removing the sideways compatibility of the nomin is unjustified. I'm surprised at the pricing of the whole haedn line it's a lot more ridiculously priced than I thought; Haedn Overshirt and field pants being the main offenders. Nonetheless the haedn collection looks amazing.

Does anyone have an opinion/experience with recent Stone Island gear? There's a lot of hype right now and vague rumours of lower quality as production has expanded. I personally love what Stone Island was and what's they've achieved previously, but I don't want to buying SI clothes if that quality isn't there anymore.

Just don't buy the money grabbers aka any stone island pieces that looks like regular clothing but has a SI patch attach or heavy branding. They still release amazing stuff and continue to do research but steer clear of money grabbers.
