  1. Looking at getting a raw denim jacket, are there any that are especially skinny and long? My measurements (roughly measured)- Length- 28, chest- 21 (flat), shoulder- 16, sleeve- 24.5

edit: preferably a type 3, but anything with decently high front pockets would work.

    A long type 3?

    Like, chore/engineer coat long?

Not raw, but this Lee Riders style jacket from Kapital is longer in the body than a traditional denim jacket:

  2. I have that issue; it was printed by Mono. Lots of great photos, especially the Copper King feature with all the comparisons of button designs, patches, etc. back to the Can't Bust 'Em days.

  3. tuan tuan has thom, but very little. Last I checked it was just some crappy TB moncler polos. Maybe different now that fall's here. Also worth noting there are multiple locations in Taipei, the one near 101 has a LOT of Rick, CdG, etc. while the one at Breeze has more European brands.

WOW is worth checking out imo since it's so easy to get to and they have some really cool stuff... just not much for men's.

Just FYI: the Tuan Tuan in Eslite Xinyi (near 101) closed down; it's been replaced by Beams. This is Beams' second spot in Taipei after the (better) one on Fujin Jie near Songshan Airport.

  4. I lost my Flat Head virginity (sort of) when this came in the other day.

Out of all the "nice" T-shirts I own (Buzz Rickson's, Toys McCoy, Trophy Clothing, Velva Sheen) I have to say, the FH is my favorite.

The print reminds me of Chief Dan George and Black Elk, and their wonderful writings:

    "O Great Spirit!

Whose voice I hear in the wind, whose breath gives life to the world...hear me.

I come to you as one of your many children...I am small and weak, I need your strength and your wisdom."

"Perhaps you have noticed that even in the slightest breeze you can hear the voice of the cottonwood tree; this we understand is its prayer to the Great Spirit, for not only men, but all things and all beings pray to Him continually in different ways."

  5. haha,I thought it would be too long for me in fact

I hear you, I had my latest pair of 441s hemmed with Take 5's Union Special to prevent any crazy stacking.

  6. anyone has experience washing denim using samurai detergent in washing machine? is it recommended? Or samurai detergent is recommended for hand wash?

I have the Samurai soap and have used it in the washer (and for soaks) just fine. I love the beany, pepperminty smell too.

  7. id love to go for some Pherrow's but the yellow rivet really puts me off , still check on yahoo auctions from time to time for some older Stormy Blues

The 441 has a silver color button, and the 500SW has a copper color one (not sure if the button is actual copper or not).

I wonder what would happen if someone were to try removing the button...

  8. Nice!

Predictable question... how did you size? Any observations - boxy fit / short / trim / generous etc ?

    Cheers B)

I got an L (15 1/2); I tried the medium on at the store but the sleeves and body length were a bit too short. Japan-sized t-shirts fit me perfectly though. XD

The L is a bit generous, which makes me feel like I'm between sizes on Pherrow's collared shirts (this happened with a short sleeve I got from them that was awkwardly sized).

The fit is slightly tapered, not boxy. The fabric, a chambray/linen blend is thick and starting to nep some. Overall I'm pretty happy with the shirt.

  9. The 770ws arrived the other day and I gave it a soak...it has a nice iridescence to it that wasn't so noticeable in the other colors of this model. I tried to capture that in pictures, but it's not easy.

  10. It doesn't, which is odd. Maybe they will as these brands become more well known.

Hmm, maybe, but doubtful; Take 5 makes it a point of only carrying Japanese brands. There are a few made in China items, but they're Cat's Paw, which is made by Toyo.

  11. Bump; here is my vintage Wrangler bandana (should be from the 1970s, judging by the short-lived horse logo on it):

*Edit: I've since noticed that Iron Heart has made an almost exact replica of this bandana, sans the horse logo and with a four leaf clover in the center:

  12. Due to the recent talk in the Unknown Japanese Brands thread about some of the Chinese brands (and Maynard moaning like a small girl), I thought it might be best for them to have their own discussion thread (and brands from other countries).

Brands talked about so far ....

    Red Cloud

    http://blog.sina.com.cn/redcloudindigo

    http://www.tuckshopsundrysupplies.com/product-category/red-cloud-denim/

    Sauce Zhan

    http://zhan.renren.com/saucezhan?from=ownerfollowing&checked=true

    Bob Dong

    http://bobdong.taobao.com

I believe Bronson was one of the brands mentioned too:

  13. Xpost(ish): I ordered a blue Pherrow's 770ws work shirt through Take 5 not long ago so I should have a post about that when it comes in.

    img61189546.jpg?_ex=300x300&s=2&r=1

I realized that my 441s look a bit black in the above photos too, which isn't accurate, so here's a couple more shots to show how blue (and hairy) they are:

    Screen%20Shot%202014-10-17%20at%209.11.3

And since things are cooling down a bit, it's almost time to pull out a Pherrow's scarf I have (that I almost forgot about):

  14. Awesome! Good to see another lesser represented brand shown a bit of attention..

..which reminds me, I never did get those 500SW's...

They really are a beautiful pair, though the fit is hard to pull off. The arcuates might be my favorite on any jeans that I've seen:

    (from Rakuten)

I know some people aren't wild about the button on the right back pocket, but I think the brass one on this model looks good; it's something different, at least.

Speaking of which, my 441s got out today:

  15. I'd like to bump this thread as I'm considering getting a nice chambray - you know the type triple stitched / triple needle 'work shirt'.

    That being said, I'm not altogether sure what to go with. Here's what I've seen on an initial browse on Rakuten;

    The Osaka brands ...

    Warehouse 3076

    Studio D'Artisan 5333 A

    Full Count 4811

    And the others ...

Momotaro MS033 (not the SJ091 with the GTB stripes)

Pherrows 770 WS '40S ply shirt (noting though that the blue chambray is 60% cotton / 40% linen ...)

    Free Wheelers Neal Cassady Railroad

    UES 500954

Don't suppose anyone has any suggestions or has anything they are wearing that they'd want to post?

    * edited to add to the list as I chance upon others ..

FWIW, I put an order in yesterday at Take 5 for the Pherrows 770 WS in indigo blue; I tried on the brown version and liked the cut. It's not a very slim fit (probably because I found I'm between M and L with Pherrow's button downs). It's fairly light, as you noted, and the details are nice enough for the price.
