  1. I have the Lot. 64 in a 40 and the rinsed measurements on the MF website are spot on. My jacket is 23.5" in length and 22" pit to pit. I usually wear a 42, but I went with the 40 since I wear jean jackets unbuttoned 95% of the time and wanted a slimmer cut.

It's a short jacket, but the only time I notice is when I'm wearing jeans with a low rise. I love the fit as long as I'm wearing jeans with at least a 11"+ rise.

  2. So after buying a Mister Freedom jacket with the Sugar Cane '66 denim and completely falling in love with it I'm considering pulling the trigger on some '66s from Frisbee's rakuten shop since I want to buy the raw version and I have a few questions

-Should I go with the 34? I'm one of those guys stuck in 35 purgatory. I currently wear a 34 in the SC2014. I really like the cut, but the waist stretches out to 36.5" after some wear and thats about an inch more than I want.

-Any advice on hemming with Frisbees? I'm aiming for a 31" inseam so I can have a clean single cuff with little to no break. Do they hem to pre or post wash length?

  3. As for denim blunders... I bought my first raw denim about a 2 years ago on a trip to New York. I bought a pair of slim/tapered Raleigh Denim jeans because I was into the whole made in the USA sale-pitch and I knew I would be moving to North Carolina within the next year. I sized down and didn't wash them for a few months, but eventually figured out that the fit/brand/sizing-down didn't really match what I wanted. That was a learning experience. The blunder was that I recently cleaned my wallet and found a Self Edge business card from that same trip with "Strike Gold - 1109" written on it. At the time I wasn't quite ready to buy $300+ denim, but in retrospect it would have been a pretty good purchase.

  4. The past month of reddit has basically been an endless stream of Oni fit checks.

Also that is another thing I don't get.  Reddit's love for Denimio.  I've bought from them.  Yeah it was easy.  But no easier than 2nd/pirates/klax-on/au-rodeo ... basically any rakuten store I've used.  It is like all the people on reddit just realized Oni just now exists because Denimio stocks them but you could have easily bought them at Japanese prices way, way before Denimio.

ONI on Denimio is just the perfect convergence of what the r/rawdenim hivemind wants; a super slubby, heavyweight, aggressively tapered jean at a low price.  If ONI ever release a indigo or black weft fabric you could basically change r/rawdenim to r/onifitcheck. Reddit's voting systems basically becomes a community approval system, and as the community grows larger the opinions become more and more narrow minded. It becomes too hard to discern people with a genuine interest in denim from people who want to fit in a collect fake internet points.

  5. Reddit is inherently flawed as a place for good discussion. It's structure doesn't promote continuous threads and discussion like a normal forum would. Reddit's structure does promote circle jerks of popular opinions. There are some quality posts in r/rawdenim, but they will get buried under posts about dudes wondering where to get their jeans tapered, figuring out which Unbrandeds to buy, and endless fawning over slubby and heavyweight jeans.

  6. Sorry for the neg rep, I was scrolling on my phone. Does Flat Head use the 2111 fit on any thing other than the 20oz denim? On paper this would be the best fit for me but this model is a) hard to find and b ) pretty damn expensive.

  7. Kiya, I feel a pretty imminent Sugar Cane jean purchase coming on soon and I have two questions. First off, do any of the SE stores stock raw versions of the 1947 or 2009? I was reading back in the Sugar Cane thread and there was mention of it, but that was about a year ago and I would expect all of those to be gone. Secondly, will the upcoming Self Edge x Sugar Cane collaboration be coming out anytime soon? The description you posted a while back sounds pretty interesting and if it arrives any time soon I may hold out on any new purchases for the new collab.

  8. Cuss,

Just an FYI - I tried to downsize my 47s (bought size 31 raw) and post-soak, the waist was snug but wearable.  The real problem was fairly subtle, but came from the rise/tapered waist combo.  Because the waist is nice and tapered, the crotch was riding up when I sat.  Basically, frontal wedgies.

I sit for a living (whoo computers), so I couldn't wear them very long without sore crotch.

I thought maybe they'd stretch, but after a few days of pain I gave up and went for a 32.  They fit perfectly.

I'm not sure how you'd make sure that isn't an issue on the 34s - beyond trying the one-wash 34 on in the store and sitting/walking around a lot.

    Good luck.

I actually tried on a pair of the one wash '47s at SE the last time I was in New York, but I'm struggling to remember if they were 34 or 36. To compare, I also tried on a 34 Roy KS1002 and those fit really well in the waist, but I wasn't a fan of how the thighs compared to the leg raper looked on me.

A 35 would be no question for me if available, but infortunatley there is no such option. I purchased my Flat Head 1001s in a 36 and the waist is a good fit after I shrink them, but I wash them more often than need to keep the waist snug. Ideally I want a pair of '47s I can soak every few months and machine wash them less often. I'm also considering the 2009 in 36 since it is the slimmer cut of the two, but I'm looking to add a high rise jean into my rotation.

  9. So I've been looking into getting a pair of the SC '47s (unwashed if possible) and need some sizing advice. I'm trying to choose between the 34" and 36". The 34" has better measurements for me everywhere but the waist (a 35" inch waiste would be my ideal size). Does the waist on the '47s stretch back out to raw measurements or will I regret not getting the 36"?

  10. Here's my Lot 64 Ranch Blouse at a recent visit to Machu Picchu with Huayna Picchu in the background.  Unfortunately it gets a little to warm after 8am to keep wearing it. I suppose bringing a denim jacket to South America during the summer was a little bold.

  11. Gate City might be going by Hudson's Hill now. Googling both will bring you to the same address in Greensboro. I stopped by his shop a few weekends ago and Evan showed me some of the new clothes he's releasing under the name Hudson's Hill. I'm pretty sure I saw some of the Duck chino in the shop as well as some Green Weft and Indigo Duck jeans.

  12. I'm interested in picking up some Flat Heads for my first pair of unsanforized jeans and am looking for some sizing advice. I've been considering getting the 3009 once the Self Edge website restocks them and now that Rivet and Hide is having a sale the 100 also looks pretty good, though I would like a smaller hem than the 1001. My actual waist measures 35.5". Would it be comfortable to go with a 36" in the 3009 or should I play it safe with a 38"?

  13. First time poster here deciding to jump on the Left Field bandwagon with all the activity going on in this thread. I've been wearing the Green Heather Greasers pretty regularly for four months now. I gave them a soak about a month ago and they got their first wash a day ago. Here they are fresh off of the clothes line. This is pretty moderate wear with a couple of miles biking every week. The color has been great on these since the wash and I'm hoping they'll get some good vintage looking fades by the end of summer. I live in New Orleans, so summer is going to be pretty brutal on these jeans and frequent washes are going to happen (from swamp ass in the actual swamp), but I'm stubborn enough to stick it out.

And a money shot of the selvage

I noticed the weft is actually two threads that are different shades of green threaded together. Would the weft on normal 14oz jean be one thicker thread?
