Does anyone know what the heck is up with the new Unionmade x LVC 1947s? Apparently it's the first collaboration LVC has done. But canvas on the front?

I'm willing to bet that it's not very historical...lol

They're not actually PBJ affiliated if that makes a difference to you. Uniqlo did a weird, shady marketing move.

Yeah and remember, the slim models don't have the actual Sugar Cane fiber in the denim, if that matters to you.

That shirt is bitchin! But tell me, you have an undershirt on right? I don't want to hear about your bloody nipples by the end of the day. lol

If its actually indigo dyed then it will fade. With it being momotaro, I imagine its actually indigo dyed.

I love how your repairs don't just fix the jean, they make the damage into a feature!

I felt those in a store once. I swear it was like rope. Props to you for whatever pain you endured!

Those details are so cool! You picked up a really unique and interesting pair. I love the front pockets especially. And the fit looks sweet from where I'm sitting.

Thanks guys!
Jackle, I did had a pair of Gustins this past Winter-Summer, and an N&F WG Red weft last fall, but I grew too tall for the N&F, and too big for the Gustins. I ended up giving them both away. But I think all my dumb screw ups put together average me out to noob status.
I consider this my first really successful pair though lol. And I almost messed THAT up.

I went to SELA yesterday and got some Sugar Cane 2014s. Brennan was a super cool guy and helped me try on all the repro pairs I was considering, as well as showing me the 2014s since they sold their last 2009 in my size. With the repros, I need a few more years with the squat rack before I think I'm ready for those since downsizing isn't for me. As for the 2014s, He basically said the fit was practically indistinguishable from the 2009s but there were differences like the leg opening being a tad smaller than the latter. Overall it was a really fun experience and I have no problem paying that extra money for assurance of fit, education, and a fun time. If I ordered Japanese, I'd probably be sweating bullets and make the wrong choice anyway.
Moral of the story, if you are a stupid noob like me, get to a local retailer.

Kind of risky, but if anyone's looking for some slim straight looking RRL jeans, The Buffalo Exchange across the street from Self Edge LA, had a pair in size 30 for $70. My friend got a pair in size 34 for $65 today...practically unworn/brand new.

I just bought the Sugar Cane 2014 from SE today and I love them. I'll probably post fit stuff tomorrow. They seem close to your specifications. With a 7.1-7.2 leg opening

Hey SELA, I'm planning on heading up there today. Just to be sure, you guys have the Sugarcane 2009 in 33 right? I plan on trying on those mainly but I also wouldn't mind trying on some of the other cuts to compare.

Yeah I've heard ocean washes make your jeans reek.
Not to mention...you'd have to be that guy at the beach splashing his jeans around...

Oh I guess I made it sound like I was still buying from Rakuten. No I plan on having the option of a headache-free return through SE. And I might have it hemmed there should the length be too much to handle.
Japanese buying is way too intimidating for me as of now.

Thanks guys. I'm glad I was stopped. After a lot of digging through fit pics, I came across sized down hawaiis and 47s, and there's a LOT of buttsuck/crotchcrushing like Erase must've been describing. I'm leaning towards the 2009 now since their measurements meet up almost identically with my jeans now, but I might just make a trip out to SE to see if they have one in my size to try on before I buy.
Thanks again guys for looking out for me lol

Pretty cool. Have you ever put stuff in that giant waist zipper pocket? You could probably hide like rope along there lol

Thanks for the concern Hoggreaser you're right, I don't mean to spam up the threads. I'm just a bit hesitant is all. My denim purchases haven't gone very well this year as you've gotten wind of... lol. I'll get in line haha

Jackle, I only saw Hawiis, Okinawas, and something called edo. But idk if that just means they're different denims in the same 1947 cut.
Bradl, lol I just mean there's room for error and I hope I didn't mess up, but I think I did ok in determing proper size. Also this pantshop avenue seems interesting. I wonder if they allow overseas return, should the sizing be messed up. Looks like something I'd have to email about, since i'm not seeing much about it in the return section. Then again google translate isn't the best.

After a bit of searching, I'm finding only once-washed versions of the 1947. Do raw unsanforized versions even exist?
Ok maybe they do. This looks interesting:

So I'm looking to size similar to my 501STFs to get a slimmer, but not exactly slim fit of these. I went true to size with those. I'm a 33.5" waist. So i'd probably be better off with ordering size 32 of those which measures roughly 33", since sugar cane is reputed to stretch a bit past pre-soak measurements. I feel like I'm doing this correctly, but being American, I hate centimeters...

I love how you get it so crinkly and marbled

Hey that's really cool. I've been dinging around with leather crafts and am always interested in new projects. It makes Christmas easier lol. How did you get that 2nd ring to stay? Are the spots around it stitched down, or is it glue?

Rad. Thanks guys. My birthday money is coming in any day now. I might just go for that. That's exactly how I sized my 501STFs so hopefully I'll get the same result.

I fucking love the SDA patch. It's hilarious. Piggies pulling pants!
Yours in particular looks nice. Good job on that pair.
