Word of Mouth - The Crust & Fades Contest
volvo240thebest replied to beautiful_FrEaK's topic in superdenim
not much stuff to show on the life side of things. I've been to Brittany France to pick up a new flute. The guy who made it is an absolute character. He's close to retirement, and works as little as possible (and I don't blame him for that!). Never had a website, never had to promote himself much too. Makes beautiful, quirky, instruments, with a very nice design too. Great guy too. He lives in a very beautiful and remote area of north Brittanny. here's the man, I just edited his face as I think he wouldn't be very happy to be featured on a raw denim forum! pic of the machine itself (sorry WOM not featured!) this is perhaps my favourite detail. It's a knot in the wood, so it may be seen as a defect actually, but it looks like an eye, and it's on the outer side of the instrument. Reminds me of the eye of Sauron Released a new album too, just a couple weeks ago. It's here if anyone wants to give it a spin.- 1294 replies

Word of Mouth - The Crust & Fades Contest
volvo240thebest replied to beautiful_FrEaK's topic in superdenim
hello there! Apologies for being a bit MIA @UkeNo! congrats! You will always remember these jeans as the jeans you were wearing when your kid was born! Ha! first proper update. Finally after much struggling I've managed to loose some weight and I was brave enough to give the jeans a proper 40° C right side out wash. Pretty happy with the results, I think I have enough contrast now to start washing very frequently. I absolutely adore these jeans! Probs my favourite jean cut. I forgot how hard is to properly capture color with a camera. It's been awhile! @beautiful_FrEaK fab marbling action going!- 1294 replies

Word of Mouth - The Crust & Fades Contest
volvo240thebest replied to beautiful_FrEaK's topic in superdenim
Shame on me, this is my first update! I *LOVE* these jeans, they're flattering and comfortable. I have missed one single day since the beginning, I was sick and stayed in bed most of that day. Here's a little photo dump from the last few days. We shot a couple promo videos in a great venue in Genova, Castello Mackenzie. Rehearsals always start with coffee Our mimosa tree in full bloom right in time for international woman's day Mini hike today- 1294 replies

I'm not anymore as anal as I used to be with these sort of things. Day one here. I'ts a beautiful windy day and I work from home so the jeans are already dry from a lukewarm soak and this is how they fit. The waist stretched back easily, the rest of it shrunk to perfection. I'm only tempted to toss them in the machine for peace of mind later on and to take another couple cms off the inseam length. I'm delighted with the jeans, love the fit! great denim, light but crunchy, I feel it'll fade great. I can totally see me being loyal to these jeans for the most of the next 18 months, easily.

Word of Mouth - The Crust & Fades Contest
volvo240thebest replied to beautiful_FrEaK's topic in superdenim
While you kids play with names, THE EAGLE HAS LANDED! [edit] just tried on. Exactly as I expected, the pre soak fit is already good, meaning that I will just soak them, as suggested but the man himself. Beautiful pair of jeans, great everyday cut, not too loose not too slim, just right.- 1294 replies

Word of Mouth - The Crust & Fades Contest
volvo240thebest replied to beautiful_FrEaK's topic in superdenim
I don't. I really hope though! meanwhile I've gave up smoking (for good I hope! it's two months + now) and gained some more weight. I will have to rely on the fact that 38 will actually stretch back to 38, either that or loose weight fast, or a combination of both.. I do hope that Simone will ship today or tomorrow and probably I will be the first to receive them, being in Italy as well... ; )- 1294 replies

hello everyone! time to open this thread. We're programming a new TCB contest, this time it will be focused on the TCB 20s cut only. The sponsor of the contest will be our own @edmond and Regiment Store in Manila. Start date: sept 1st 2017 End date: march 1st 2019 Preorder deadline: july 15th 2017 Cost: USD 245, shipping included, hemming included if needed (done by TCB) Customization: it's possible to order the jeans without suspender buttons (they don't make much of a difference as far as comfort when wearing a belt, though) Payment: it's possible that payment will be via credit card only, no paypal. More details about it later... Prizes: thanks to the Asian Charles Bronson & Regiment store we'll have perhaps the most generous prize line up I've ever seen in a contest. 1st Prize = 1 jacket 1 pants 2nd prize = 1 jacket 3rd price = 1 pants 4th prize = newspaper bag 5th prize = hat or cap All TCB products! TCB 20s Replica of a 1922 pair of Levi's 501 from Hajime Inoue's personal collection. typical details of a 1920's pair of jeans, straight cut, cinchback, exposed back pocket rivets, crotch rivet, suspender buttons, iron buttons that will rust over time. Fabric: 8x8 Memphis cotton denim, 12.5 oz weight. Superb fabric, I must say! Special details, only for the contest pair custom patch, designed in Italy special pocket bag fabric, selvedge indigo duck fabric weaved on old looms. Inoue's own words: "indigo canvas can also enjoy discoloration" custom arcs, designed by Inoue, I have no pictures yet of the arcs design, but it'll be something that could be partially unpicked to reveal "proper" arcs waistband chainstitch runoff

here we go! we could use this thread to compare different kind of 66 style inspired jeans cuts by various makers, geeking out on details and differences in cut, fabric etc etc. 1966 jeans details are widely known by just to sum it up: silhouette: clean silhouette with mid rise, a regular top block and a slight taper from knee to hem denim: the denim used for 60's jeans has usually a pale blue hue and should fade to a nice royal blue details: - bartacks in lieu of rivets on backpockets - square coinpocket - no selvedge hidden in the coinpocket, which is usualy chaintitched - double chainstitch waistband construction - paper patch instead of leather patch - absence of the V-stitch at the top button 66 models in the market nowadays: LVC 1966 http://levisvintageclothing.com/product/1966-501-jeans/ Denime 66 http://www.denime.jp/realbasic/archive/?category=4 TCB 60's https://tcbjeans.stores.jp/#!/items/54a65f9c552f2f097d0020d8 Sugarcane66 http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/frisbee/item/10004578/ Porky's http://www.porkys-jeans.com/original.html Studio d'Artisan http://www.dartisan.co.jp/web_shop_detail.php?item_cd=16&cate_cd=2 Resolute 710 http://www.resolute.jp/710.html Warehouse 1100 http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/ot-emens/item/mwa99-1100/ Pherrow's 466sw http://global.rakute...lo/item/962623/ Fob Factory F161 (possibly discontinued) http://www.fob-facto...ucts_zoom&pk=11 Boncoura 66type (http://maidens.shop-...p/?pid=47371645) Fullcount 1800 (http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/very/item/fullcount-1800/) i will update the list when time permits and add photos of details too. there seems to be a fair bit of variation between all the different takes by different brands on this classic cut. let's compare them.
