  1. I've been to Amsterdam a few times this year.  If you are going to hang out in coffee shops you want to do some research before you go.  They are not all the same.  Some are set up to offer you great coffee and atmosphere, some offer pool tables and music, and others have extremely overpriced merchandise.  Visit the Grey Area, Voyagers, or Amnesia for some of the best offerings in the city.  Visit Doors and Resin to chill and relax with a large group of friends.  Remember to drink coffee or soda if you start to feel drowsy.  Most of all, enjoy walking up and down the streets enjoying the architecture, stop in at least one of the museums, and do a canal tour if you have the time.  Cheers!

  2. Hello, Im planning a trip to Malaysia in the spring of 2014!  Im, looking for advice on which cities, (and specifically which stores) to visit for denim shopping.  I would like to shop at a place that has the budding Malaysaian brands, and possibly another shop that carries the popular Japanese brands.  Also looking to get my girl her first pair of selvedge denim with any luck.  It's up to me to plan the details of the trip, so at this point, any city or excursion is possible.  This will be my first trip to Malaysia, so if there is advice on any other sites to see, feel free to suggest them.

  3. I don’t pretend to be some kind of authority on sugarcane because I looked up their product offerings on rakuten a couple times.  Im not looking for your approval or trying to impress anyone here.  Give me a break.

Beyond that, what I think is a matter of opinion.  And in my opinion, you take away their tops, jackets, accessories like shoes, scarf, and hats...take away the duck pants, and railroad garb and look at just the denim pants and what they offer is limited.  That is unless you want to count predistressed, prefaded pants designed to make you look like a longshoreman from the 40’s.  Sorry, not the look Im going for on most days, so it limits what Im going to buy from them.

I also like my pants 14oz and higher because I spend a fair amount of time outside year round and the temperatures that I deal with.  I also like denim that can survive construction works.  This usually takes denim over 14oz in my case.  This also limits what I buy from sugarcane.

Honestly, I dont feel offended, Im just surprised people in this thread are so pretentious, and hyper sensitive about a brand of clothing.  You have great passion, although I think it maybe a little misguided....by the way, if sugracane dabbles in slim cuts when they are suppose to be a repro company (2009, SEXSC02, ect), then why not dabble in offering some heavier weights as well?  If they did vary their product line would you still feel so passionate about them?  Would you be excited to see new product offerings or would you think that they sold out?  Just a question for those of you willing to think outside of the box.

  4. Sorry but Im entitled to my opinion.  Im not into comparing Brands, especially repro's to modern cuts, but obviously if your talking repro then you automatically put a limit on what you make for obvious reasons.  You can change some degrees to add depth with rainbow, and persimmon but it is what it is.  I personally like what they do.  But excuse me for not knowing their whole product line.  Maybe Im not privy to all of the nuances of denim, and each brand out there.  Thats not my bag.  When I was looking for denim for the HWDC I checked to see what SC had to offer...so that makes me laughable?  Oh well, I can live with that.

  5. Believe me, I have.  I've done a ton of looking around on rakuten for SC products as well as other sites in the past.  Especially when looking for denim for the HWDC. Their product line for bottoms has been pretty limited, over the years, Im just surprised I forgot about the 12oz and would not be surprised if there are other models I've forgotten about.  They have made a couple attempts at some more modern cuts, but they arent dedicated to coming out with new models every season, or using any heavy denim as far as I know.  I guess thats not their business model.  I can live with that.

  6. I more or less agree with Mega.  I personally have collected some things in the past.  Sports Cards, vintage video games, fishing lures...all things mostly bought cheaply.  There isnt much need for buyer's remores in most cases.  If you never use something you paid six bucks for (or maybe even $20 bucks for) then there is no big loss.  Where as buying a $100-$500 pair of jeans and then never wearing them is a finacial luxury that I cant afford.  That said, I have 3 pairs of selvedge with the tags still on them sitting in my closet now.  I have no idea when I will be wearing any of those jeans.  It will most likely be at least two years from now.  Im rotating a pair 25oz and 14oz denims along with a pair of greys UB i wear on occasion.  I dont have a use for anything more.

If I had the money to snatch up every limited edition denim that's released on a whim...yeah I proubably would do it.  Props to those of you who can!  I prefer denim in its prestine state, and it would be cool to always have new denim or even exotic denim to through on or even sit and look at.  Its the same thing as going into a denim shop even if you dont plan to buy.  Its always nice to hold the finish product in your hand and appreciate the craftsmanship...would be pretty damn cool to be able to do that in the comfort of your own home!

  7. Well I have quite a collection of tea.  Not sure if you have ever spilled tea on your clothes but sometimes it changes the color of the material, or in the case, the denim.  It would be simular to putting a subtle color cast on it.  It's nothing that I've tried personally, but this isn't something new that I just came up with on my own.  From what I know, people have been doing this for some time.  I'm only a few weeks intio wearing my jeans and have barely any wear yet.  I've got plenty of time to debate on doing a tea soak, mud wash, sea wash, or anything else.
