dude are you the same chits who put out that 'barry sanders' track a long time ago? was relistening to a bunch of old mix cd's i'd made and that one came on, cool stuff. glad to hear you're tight with astro nautico, big strides being made there.
on another note, new burial is fucking insane. i know its sort of a cliche to hail burial at this point but this just so seriously blows his other recent stuff out of the water (like even 'rough sleeper' which i thought was phenomenal) that anyone who hasnt taken a listen yet really has got to.

Re: slapping baudrillard on a shirt--I see how this could be construed as lazy but tbh c.e is the only brand that I know of that actively demonstrates a meta-awareness of its role as a cultural text--on one hand it's indebted to these cultural symbols and associations (dreamscape; 90s hardcore/jungle, early web graphics), creating a sort of nostalgic atmosphere/narrative for the brand, but on the other it recognizes that it's only a simulation of those things, which are themselves simulations of other ideas and associations, eg you're missing the point if you think you're creating any sort of meaningful narrative for yourself by literally wearing these references; it's just fabric and simulacra, nothing concrete, hence "caveat emptor (buyer beware)"
While I think a lot of these notions regarding simulated narratives go without saying when it comes to fashion, I still find it refreshing to see a brand recognize its strained position in this regard, literally codifying its contradictions in the clothes
(One of my favorite pieces is the nostalgia hoodie homi29 bought, because it has the dreamscape ii graphic on the front, an obvious reference to 90s rave culture and all its associations, but on the back, almost like a physical footnote to the garment, is the baudrillard quote qualifying the piece's relationship to its subject matter. Plus I think it just looks cool as hell.)

glad to see GR is getting some more coverage, really've been digging his stuff the last year or so. foreseeable collab maybe?

its not that he cares how or what you spend your money on, just anyone who sees the purchasing of a $1k basic hoodie as "worth it" probably doesnt have a good understanding of what money is, generally speaking.

this jacket:
favorite from cav empt, graphic totally reminiscent of those old dreamscape rave posters. never saw it available in white from any stockists, sadly
also, this interview is short, but also pretty telling imo as to cav empts premise/presence as a brand:
http://www.theheavymental.com/articles/cav-empt/lastly big ups to the brand for using d double as a model for their old lookbook. i couldnt care less about zomby nor his foray into conceptual advertising

i imagine an unsightly massive blob in the corner of a room that is some guy wearing a size 4XL black MA-1
im after that truly immense look.

idk why theres a serious stigma towards forums (maybe just where i am) but very little towards things like tumblr/reddit/facebook which are really close to the same thing but with varying levels of anonymity and spectacle...like a sort of, 'you post on forums? ewww gross' reaction
hell ill even hear people talking about 4chan in casual conversation, but forums? no way
i was considering posting this in misc. musings as i dont think the issue rises to the level of hatred, but as long as were already on this topic..1 -
Word. I sit in the back of my crit. theory class, where I can see usually 4-5 girls continuously scrolling through their tumblr feeds of pastel goth images and awful fast fashion-inspired outfits. not only is it incredibly distracting, but it's also like seeing a sort of aesthetic degradation in action, and it honestly just makes me sort of sad.

Might need a "how to read" section too
