    The Leather Jacket Thread

And here is its brother, a brown Schott Cafe racer from 1960s, in great vintage conditions

    The Leather Jacket Thread

My vintage Schott Perfecto One Star bought two years ago in New Old Stock conditions. The label is the one used in these jackets from late 50s to mid 60s. The condition is stunning, it had only some creases on right sleeve due to nearly 60 years of storing but no traces of use in the lining, inside hems, collar, elbows, etc. Here is a few pic for your review:

    Vintage Denim?

I bought these Lee 200 (dry rigid) in 1975 in Italy, they were deadstock in sale as out of fashion in that period of bell bottom jeans, so I suppose they were from late60s-early 70s european production (made in belgium in the label). They don't have a selvage, when did Lee stop to make selvage jeans?
  4. I wasn't able to find a thread about these jeans so I start one. My first pair of Lee jeans was a late 60s deadstock 200 bought in 1975 (that I still keep in my closet as a relic) and even though in recent years I bought mainly Levis LVC, I still have a nostalgic love for Lee. Ten years ago I bought two pairs of 101z 1952 japan archives, a dry and a "worn" version, and I love them. Now I decided to try a pair of the 101 premium european series. As I already own two pairs of 101z 52 I choose the 101 Rider in dry denim, they have a slim cut, the website says based on a vintage block from the 60s. The denim is a sanforized 13 3/4 left hand japanese twill (lot #49) that is dyed with 13 dips of indigo, and has a bleu line selvage. It's manufactured in Italy, definitely an added plus. The denim is very rigid and stiff and it seems it will require a good work to break-in, it's stiffer than current dry 501 LVCs, it's like the denim I remember in my vintage Lee 200 when they were new. Summing up my first impression is very positive, quality wise I don't find it inferior to the old japanese archives I own, I like the slim cut, the only thing that I don't like is the leather back patch, why don't use the classic Lee patch that they still use in the non-premium line? Mistery of marketing... What is your opinion?

Another thing about my LVC 501-54 above, the previous pair I got (from 2011), if I remember correctly, had a bit different look and touch of the denim, it was more smooth at touch, the fabric looked more "combed", more starched (I don't know how to describe it correctly, english is not my language) and maybe also a bit darker, these from 2015 have a bit more rough, "hairy" look and touch. Anyone knows why? The denim should basically be the same from Cone Mill...

Button code says 4420. What I don't understand is why one internal label says "Made in USA from imported components" when the cardboard label says "Made in USA - made from cone denim north carolina", what are the imported components? I hope it's not denim. If they were manufactured in 2015 wasn't cone the LVC denim supplier until it closed down at the end of 2017? I have an older pair of the same 1954-501Z rigid, maybe from 2011 (code 0411) that had all the same external paper labels and that on the internal label says only "Made in Usa"

    Levi's Vintage Clothing

Hi, I was able to find a pair of LVC-501z-1954 rigid still labeled Made in Usa (with cone mills denim), is there any way from the number/codes in the internal labels to know when these were produced? Thanks

Anyone can help in dating this jacket? I bought it used for about $50. I am usually a 40 and it fits me great as shouldrs and sleeves but it's impossible to button up, too tight in the chest but it looks great when worn unbuttoned. I suppose it (originally?) had two patches on the sleeves that someone removed as the denim in that oval areas is a bit darker. Thanks
