    definitely considered these but im hoping someone here is geek enough to elaborate on their DIY solution. looking for something simple and efficient. i was thinking you could just inspect the total length of the main page's html content, but i dont know enough about web dev to know if thats worth exploring

    Every season I macgyver something from scratch to gimme a popup when new items are added, and I've always gotten whatever I'm after. I guess whatever bots the resellers use don't ping too frequently to avoid being blocked. Should work out of the box if you're on OSX, extremely fragile, sorry I know it's bad but I'm just too high:

    #!/bin/bash

    sleep_interval=${1:-5s}

    function get_products {
        local products=$(curl https://acrnm.com 2>/dev/null \
                                    | perl -n -e'/products\/(.*?)"/ && print "$1\n"')
        echo "$products"
    }

    current_products=$(get_products)
    current_products_count=$(echo "$current_products" | wc -l)

    echo "$current_products"
    echo "Looks like there are ${current_products_count} products right now"
    echo "Checking every ${sleep_interval} for new stuff..."

    while true ; do
        new_current_products=$(get_products)
        new_current_products_count=$(echo "$new_current_products" | wc -l)
        if [ "${current_products_count}" -ne "${new_current_products_count}" ]; then
            echo "whoa there are new products now! $new_current_products_count up from $current_products_count"
            new_products=$(diff <(echo "$current_products") <(echo "$new_current_products"))
            echo "$new_products"
            message="There's new acronym:${new_products}"
            osascript -e 'display notification "'"${message}"'" with title "heads up"'
            break
        fi
        sleep ${sleep_interval}
    done

    this will check at the interval you specify for new products and send you a notification if a new one is posted. Default is every 5 seconds, run it with e.g. "1m" for every minute or "1s" to DDOS erlsn

  2. I don't think you are right about GTV, think it's actually different goretex. It's listed as 2.5L rather than 3L, and if you look at the pics where the cuff is rolled back, it has a more paclite-ish texture closely resembling that on the J1A-GTV.

    Think J76 and J36 are standouts for me, latter because it's an improvement to one of my favorites, and former because it's a perfect blend of utility and aesthetic. Only miss for me is the P32-DS because I'd hate to have to deal with one of those 90 degree zips on a fabric so structureless as DS -- opening the zip would be a two-handed affair every time

    EDIT: pretty cool that even now 6 hours later there's a full size run of pretty much everything.

    It reminds me too much of those overstuffed leather couches from the mid 80’s.

    Agree on the J46, on the J63A enough is going on that it comes off alright to me. I checked it out in store, it's definitely not the same fabric as PB, feels less soft/smooth and more windstopper-ish

  4. Quality is not durability, and tbh i'm fine with Acronym doing a comparatively fragile piece in an experimental fabric now and then. It's not like they are switching everything to be polartec alpha, he's still releasing a heavy goretex jacket and xpac bags.

    1. source on polartec alpha not being durable?
    2. I'm not clear on how that white jacket could be polartec alpha, are you sure? It looks like alpha is a fleece kind of fabric, which is not the texture I'm seeing in the promo pics? At the very least it doesn't look like alpha is the outward facing layer which should improve durability quite a bit?
  5. It's totally fair to be critical of Acronym using fabrics that damage easily, since their whole vibe is about function and mobility and durability. But when you say "fast fashion" you're comparing them to companies that are filling up landfills with shitty throwaway clothing, which is unfair imo.

    Fast fashion is about huge volume, low prices, low quality. Even the fragile Acronym pieces like the foil bags depreciate little and often make their way through three owners before being retired. And obviously Acronym is not high volume low price :) there's tons of well-made-but-not-durable clothing in menswear and high fashion all around, but you wouldn't compare that to Zara.

  6. I'm getting to the culling phase of my pursuit of Acronym, where I've figured out which stuff I'm into and am trying to shrink my collection to the core essentials. Listing here for a bit first before grailed.

    Sorry the prices are all over the place; I'm generally trying to make back what I paid or the current market value, whichever is lower. See if you can guess which ones I bought from retail or community members, vs which ones I gave up and shelled out to scalpers for :)

    • All with bags, spec sheet, jacketsling, might be missing non-logo tape on the jackets
    • Sorry the photos are all wrinkled, they've been packed in storage. Happy to take more photos
    • Not really looking for trades, but I guess if you have a 2018 olive 3A-3TS or a P30-DS, I'd like to hear about it. Open to offers as well
    • these prices are all pre-fee but I'll cover shipping in CONUS

    WTS

    J43A-GT (S) $2500 - 7/10 kills me to let this go but I can't justify two Acronym hardshells. Some aesthetic scratches on the interior backing and you should get a professional to re-press some of the tape, but no actual damage.

    3A-3TS Black Foil $1000 - 9/10 used this two or three times

    GT-J34 (S) Black $1600 - 8/10 didn't even know this came in black until I bought it. Some wear on the zippers but generally excellent condition

    P23TS-CH (M) Black $950 - 8/10 little bit of fading, alas I'm definitely a size S...

    J62-PB (S) $1000 - 9/10 wore this twice, sick jacket but too slim for me through the shoulders

    P25H-DS (S) $1500 - 9/10 worn two or three times, amazingly comfortable

    Vapormax Tee (S) Black $90 - 10/10, never worn, I actually have no idea what this retailed for but would be willing to sell for retail if it's less than this

    Thanks for looking!!

  7. Wish the dude would just produce more volume and lower prices, but I prefer higher prices and longer sitting stock over the last few seasons. It's ass that the prices are so high, but the alternative is either (A) shit sells out so fast that you can't even look at what you're buying or (B) you buy at the same prices (or higher) from resellers and worry about fakes and scams.

  8. Hey all, I managed to purchase a vanilla J1A-GT, so now I'm looking to sell the GTV. Sick jacket, I just wish they had added an inner jacketsling. Listing here before I take it to grailed, of course selling at break-even price, not trying to scalp anyone. Extensive pics available here, it's only been worn for perhaps 30 seconds total, comes with everything, 10/10 etc.

    Price is $1950.34 sale price + $182.55 duties + shipping and fees, which is $2196.88 and fees.

  9. IC on a J1A-GTV in S. Brand new, never worn outside, just tried on. I'm on the fence about it, unfortunately it doesn't have an inner jacket sling which is my favorite feature :((((

    I'm wondering if anyone has other jackets in the J1A pattern that they'd be interested in trading. Message me!

  10. I just got the J1A-GTV, just 4 days after ordering. Some quick thoughts:

    • I was unsure about the color, but as expected, when I took it out of the box and tried it on I loved it. This is kinda why I'm willing to buy Acronym on faith... whenever I've been on the fence, I've always ended up pleased.
    • It might be true that the 2.5L Goretex quieter or tents out less, but if so it's not by enough to matter. Still feels like a rigid crinkly jacket.
    • It's been awhile since I had a J1A-GT but the fit feels the same if not slightly slimmer.
    • The interior feels totally different from 3L... it's much less slippery.
    • They sent me a free Vapormax tee, awesome :)
    • There are no inner jacketsling hooks. Fuck me. I wonder if it's because of the backer material, or if they're fully committed to external jacket slings only from now on? Despite how awesome the jacket is I'm probably going to end up selling or trading it because of this... the inner jacketsling is the one gimmick I absolutely love :(

    They use flat rate shipping (€45 for everything - doesn't matter if your $1800 jacket weighs 4 micrograms, it'll cost the same as shipping heavy ass shoes). Excluding VAT they charge €20 above retail. Why? Because it's Acronym, their MO is taxing the fuck out of the customers. Let's not forget the duties that we also have to pay.

    If you're in the US you don't actually have to pay duties on the shoes because they're under $800.

    The paclite used for the first J44 is a lot stiffer than any of my pro shell GT pieces.

    That's nuts, what season was that? Maybe the "paclite" is totally different? I can't find any hard evidence that there are multiple versions of Paclite, but the J1A-GTPL is vastly less rigid than the pro shell on both my J43A and my Veilance monitor.

  13. I'm going to be listing my J1A-GTPL in S on grailed soon. Sick jacket but I've too many light raincoats. I'm trying to sell it at net-0 with shipping/duties/imports. If anyone wants to get at it before I list it, send me a PM. It's probably like $2600 all in but I'll have a specific number when I get home.

    EDIT: sorry I'm high, I forgot I successfully switched the duty code. Total is $2,102.27 plus fees and shipping. Jacket was $1,959.85, duties were $142.42. with fees and all, probably about $2,250.

  14. I hear you all on price, but I fear the reality is we're not going to be seeing Acronym Goretex Pro jackets going for less than $2,500 anymore. So IMO, although worries about "Acronym inflation" are fair, complaints about this specific jacket's price relative to what you're used to paying for e.g. the J1A-GT are misguided. So, putting price aside, I'm gonna be the outlier and say the J1A-GTPL is great.

    it's the first paclite jacket I've owned, and I really like the drape. I've got a J43A-GT and while it's sick, it definitely tents out if I sit down or even lean a bit because GTX Pro is so rigid. This is much more like normal fabric. Dunno what you guys mean about feeling cheap, I'm not getting that vibe at all, though it's much lighter in texture. Feels like halfway between the J1A-GT and what I imagine a J1A-WS would feel like. And the color blocking is great. Also, while Acronym has made some great jackets, the J1A is really just... something else.

    As for performance, we'll  have to see when the rain comes... my understanding is that they've done a few iterations of paclite and it's improved since the first cuts, but I don't have anything to compare it to.

    The lack of internal jacket sling loops is a real bummer. Of all the neat gimmicks and features Acronym has, I've found the jacket sling setup far and away the most useful.

    Overall, I'm not sure whether to keep it. I've a GT-J34 in the mail and I'm going to sell one of the two, so I guess I'll decide when that arrives.

    considering how much i wear my p10ts-ds i'm wondering.. do you often sit on brick or other rough surfaces? my pants look lik enew and i've worn them on average about 4 out of 7 days a week since i bought them when they dropped.

    Nope. I guess I could have slid down something and forgot, but afaik just normal wear, about as much as you. The only thing I can think of is that I have weightlifter thighs, but it's stretchy fabric so it shouldn't matter.

    They have used different iterations over the years, and I think the answer is "it varies."  My DS-LA3 pills near the rear bottom hem, and is more like loose threads than fuzz balls. My DS-HD2 also had minor pilling under the armpits and at the sleeve hems, but it looked more like lint than threads.  Both of these were easily removed with a pretty cheap depiller, and I did not notice any negative impacts to durability/function.  However, while the HD2 showed no visible signs I had removed some pilling, my LA3 has some tell tale signs.  My DS-KA3, which I think was the same iteration as the LA3, doesn't have any pilling, though I have worn it less frequently.  I wore my S8-DS and S15-DS even less frequently, and obviously also did not have any pilling (these two shirts did seem to have the thinnest version of DS).

    My LA6-DS, P23A-DS, and P24A-DS have been worn extensively, but have not shown any signs of any pilling yet.  When I had my P10TS-DS, I thought they were pretty similar if not the same version of DS as the 23 and 24 so I am a little surprised you're having an issue.  The tighter cut of the P10s might be contributing, or you might just be wearing them more frequently/rigorously.  Agreed on Outliers, I have some for office pants and it's definitely a tougher face fabric.  But that comes with increased swishing while walking and as you mentioned, a more synthetic look and feel.

    TLDR: I would just take a depiller to them.  Unless you're noticing a significant thinning of the fabric in the rear seat, I wouldn't worry about it.

    Thanks for the info, I'll try that.

    Now that I look, I notice the wear is really only on the right side. At this point I wonder if I may have mounted something abrasive on the tecsys there. I'll try taking the addons off and depilling to see if it stops the wear.

  17. Does anyone have any observations on the longevity of the DS Acronym uses? I've got a pair of P10TS-DS that are showing worrisome pilling. Pardon the creative description, but it's kind of on the area of your ass that flattens when you flex your glutes.

    I've got some Outlier pants that are also dryskin, but those don't wear at all in this way. On the other hand, they feel much more... synthetic.
