  1. Skirt is amazing, but um, wtf is with the buckles? They are sooo hard to tighten! Why did they change them when the old ones were perfect 😡 am I missing something??

Just received my J113-SD. I have found myself recently outgrowing size S in ACR jackets, so I got a M this time in spite of the wide cut. But man, this thing is wide, and I had second thoughts of returning it for a S, but I convinced myself to stick to M. At that size, I can even use my Andwander diamond down jacket as mid-layer.

Love the two big dump pockets, but the one that I find hardest to access is the small horizontal pocket on the top left. I layered it with a polartec fleece, and its really comfortable, and Im really beginning to dig the design. The sleeves are a tad long, but I folded it back and it felt okay and workable.

The hood is the highlight, but if I am to wear a mid layer that also has hood, I find it hard to zip it all the way up to eye level, maybe my head's big.

I haven't had a new ACR jacket in a while, and sold quite a few of my older pieces because of size. But I am really liking this.

Where the pics? Really wanna see the fabric up close, especially if you got orange

I’d say it’s more a matter of us being very steeped in the brand more than the brand not being prevalent. It’s still pretty small scale compared to most other fashion houses/big labels.

All that being said- I know a bunch of peoples that make and spin edm that wear a bunch of ACR stuff on the reg.

Yeah def, I’m more surprised the other way that no one here parties in that way. FWIW acronym is very iykyk in the techno scene, people will ask you where you got those pants constantly because it’s a crowd of ppl who are very into the aesthetic, often using drugs that make them more social lol. On the other hand, the brand is of course prohibitively expensive, so people who are super into the artsy queer underground techno scene are not gonna wanna drop thousands on pants, they’ll just DIY or thrift. Not buying acronym is more acronym than buying acronym, and all that.

  4. Kinda surprised there’s no acronym techno overlap here?? The p30ae is the absolute perfect pair of pants for techno, between the wide range of temps they can accommodate and the amount of pockets for organizing earplugs, super compact bucket hats, Techno Snuff, etc. And jacketsling spares you from having to deal with coat check. Plus the aesthetic ofc.

qq for anyone with a vest with auxzip, it just doesn’t work at all wearing a jacketsling on the outer jacket right? Without the sleeves to pin it up, it’s just gonna hang and drag on the ground?

I dont want to get into it about discord, but I will say, I’m very glad this community somehow survived the redditization of the internet that killed so many forums. This site—hell this thread—was around long before discord was even in alpha. This shit is like a 90s forum, extremely specific culture, vicious beratement of noobs who fail to come correct, it’s great. If you want the discord community vibe, go post in discord 😉

  5. Unrelated, I was at a techno club in Shibuya the other day and saw a traveler decked out in acronym. I’m sure y’all discussed this before, but im curious about the 2024 version: how many of y’all are into raves? So many acronym features shine brightest in that environment, it’s a match made in heaven. Plus the aesthetic is obviously perfect—I’ve started describing acronym as “the least cost-effective  way to pass the vibe check at basement" to my friends

  6. I’m a lil surprised at the hate for the J113-SD. It’s kind of charming! The hood is super cool, with the profile shots almost giving Raf alien coat, and the fabric texture on the orange one looks sick — I’m looking at the shot of the back here. Actually that orange is pretty cool period, I’m glad to see E keeping trying new colors. The coat kinda reminds me of a puffer jacket from like the 90s, except it’s not a puffer jacket. I don’t see riot division at all, with the weirdly off-kilter and kinda sickly looking zips. Also the bottom pockets look absolutely jumbo, and if they hang so as to not bulk out when they’re full as well as every other Acronym jacket I’ve ever owned, that will actually be v useful. Also also they hang in a great spot when the sling is used.

The black is less exciting and the jacket sling change is whatever. Overall the jacket’s not for me, certainly not at that price, but I’d take designs like this over goth spikes or huge logos any day. I hear you about it being totally different from when Acronym was putting out bangers every season ten years ago, but like, he already did that? and isn’t that space is a little played out by now? meh I know we gave this specific convo like six times per year so I’ll shut up.

I like the j97 silhouette and was happy to see a wb400 makeup. I previously had a 48ss and liked the substantial and thick fabric with fleece backer for layering or stand alone, but I know when they re relaesed it the price was a bit crazy. 97-ss is made in portugal which is the first jacket I've seen out of there, I know shirts had been previously made there. 97m sleeves were always comically long so glad to see that be fixed here. Size M in both, fits just about identically just thicker and warmer

tyvm!! Looks great, i have the same color of j97m. It’s funny how when i got into acronym the softshells were the least interesting part, but now they’re the first thing I look at every season

  8. idk it’s cool that he balanced the super edgy j43a style hood collar with a more down to earth jacket while also making it more functional and also soft. crazier jacket would be weaker imo, they can’t all be p38s

  9. Did the original j68 have aux zip? The chest pocket is canted compared to the one on the j58 — how well does it work with the access zipper on the j1? Seems like it might be better but it depends on the shape of the pocket.

edit no aux zip on the original, which his iteration came in raf which imo is way better for this jacket

  10. I know this is a lot to ask (unironically) but what if instead of nitpicking about single throwaway phrases in otherwise great posts, we add to the convo?

2021ish doesn’t seem too far fetched to me in terms of sales. that run of j1bs during the multi season in fw20 could be the best they’ve ever done given the volume… they sold out pretty much everywhere and there were a lot of stockists and colorways.

Where would you put the peak, spitballing? Or, where would you say the decline started, if at all? In terms of designs, or in terms of business?

Well, what I heard, Haven didn't quit. Haven was cancelled.

You hear why? They run a sale?

And I strongly disagree with this take. Acronym has been "evolved" from the very inception of the brand. Nothing is "evolved" about some Hellraiser spikes LOFL.

To clarify, I meant if he wants to be able to keep selling acronym at elevated prices, and to sell out even with the much increased production and stockists of today vs 2018, he needs to keep captivating the hypebeast crowd. since techwear’s moment in the sun is faded he needs to find something new to draw hype, to move volume. So he’s making bold moves that aren’t landing, with this crowd at least.

ofc I’m personally with you, I would much rather he stay niche, focus on the original vision and slow iteration, and sell smaller runs to the longtime fans. Like he was happy to do for 20 years. 🤷

He could've just looked at Visvim and followed what Hiroki is doing because he's been doing the same thing for 20 years and is still doing great. Haven still carries it, and his items are still selling out without much of a problem, even though they're as expensive as ACR.

Is visvim a fair comparison though? There will always be infinite appetite for nostalgic Americana with a narrative about quality craftsmanship behind it. OTOH, outside of techwear’s moment a few years ago, idk how much room there was to scale up production of the core pieces without blowing out market demand. Especially since in streetwear exclusivity is a concern.

Just dunno how viable the visvim “fill out your niche” strategy is for acronym, if they wanna grow they have to keep evolving. which seems to be what they’re trying to do, with um mixed results

edit also I know I’ve said this before but my sense is that keeping acronym prestigious is more valuable than cashing out rn. And as long as the core pieces are rare and sought after, they can release lots of duds trying to find the next hit, while always having the hooded j28 or the p24a in their back pocket when needed to drum up interest

  13. I adore the p30a but they are already borderline costumewear if not balanced out. Spikes are really gonna push that. On the other hand, I guess they’ll be even more perfect for BASEMENT lol.

unrelated, did anyone get the new j97? Love love love the j97m, curious to see how it fits with the more structured fabric.

  14. To be fair the original P38 was v. different from the current model. It’s been cool watching them iterate, even if it’s a lil too extra for me

edit unless I’m trippin. Wasn’t the original p38 the debut of that style of fly zip, and basically that was its only flashy feature?

  15. 100%, pink j1a would be incredible

This is why I phrased my wording as "wandered too far from the path they were once following to success". Guaranteed if those jackets were instead J28E/J1AS in mothersite exclusive colorways.......they would be soldout.

You're comparing a new jacket design to probably the two most all-time beloved hype pieces. Even at peak acronym hype what you're saying would be true.

They've been doing this shit for 20 years. They operated through the 2008 recession when all luxury brands from SLP to Rick rotated through Gilt at some point, so feeble were retail sales across the board. a broad cooling in the consumer spending market is so impactful that trying to pin it on weak designs is just noise in comparison

edit to add a little beyond just "ur wrong," I have observed that when brands jump the shark like this, they continue to sell strong long after the hardcore fans like this board have totally written them off. The market doesn't react that fast, it takes a long time for the news to reach clout chasers. When acronym really washes up financially you will already have long stopped reading this thread or hoping for them to do better

  16. Late to the discussion but it’s also important to remember the market correction since early 2022, plus the looming fears of a recession (which we might actually evade!). True acrnm stepped up supply substantially but consumer spending has also cooled materially across the board. Comically unfortunate timing for Errolson as far as increasing production goes.

  17. Little late, but for dream jacket makeups, I'd adore a J97 in Merino wool. That would be the perfect travel layer -- warm, breathable, odor-resistant, etc.

  18. On the topic of J105-DS, if anyone is in Seoul, Coevo absolutely still has some black/black in stock at their physical shop. The one on the rack was M, but you can call to ask about other sizes. (Not the jacket for me since I'm short and muscular, and plus im a gaijin.)

There’s also wayyyy more product per item available than in years past.

yeeee true. That plus hype cooling just a little bit. Second hand market is also coming back down to earth which is great. NG4-PS is a great example.

  20. Damn, compare releases today to a few years ago. The J47TS-GT release I remember having to buy things before I could even read what they were, for ever-increasing prices, because otherwise it would sell out instantly. Today P10A-E, which is a great pair of pants, has almost a full size run available a month after release. Prices are higher, but that's better than prices higher and can't kop.

I was worried about innovation but i'm not anymore. M fabric is great. New J16 is great. P38-GTB is exactly the amount of overkill I like to see (but not buy lol). J99 and J93 are both sick. It's a great time to be an acronym fan.

Does anyone happen to have the wash instructions for the SM1-AK?  The tag was annoying so I cut off the stitches holding it on and put it somewhere for safe keeping.  Apparently so safe I can't find it anymore..
