  1. Sometimes I feel like the only person keeping this thread from rotting away!!

  2. Ah, like the way they did green red selvedge for christmas too? Or maybe it was the same pair, just someone who dubbed it christmas ;) .

My old boss who used to work for evisu was telling me how evisua have all these wacked out different names for selvage colour

    eg

red and green selvage from memory is called 'snake bite selvage'

orange line selvage is called tiger selvage

    and so on..

anyone else know about these names/have a list?

  3. So this summer I will be going to Vietnam and was thinking on wearing a nice pair of raws there cause i'm sure I will be doing a lot of walking and have some great break in time.

BUT, the thing is. It's ALOT hotter in Vietnam than Cali and my Naked and Famous right now are a bit too heavy for my liking. Can someone suggest me some budget jeans for the hot weather? I was thinking the N&F Silk Denim, Nudies Broken Twills.

    Thanks

Edit: I'm not sure if i forgot to submit thread or it got deleted. If it got deleted sorry just delete again

    FORGET IT BRO!

I made the mistake of taking a pair of normal evisu* travelling wore them ONCE for a temple visit in thailand and never again! its too hot man its all about the shorts and flip flops! trust!!

sure you will get some intense fast fades but man it will be a sauna in your pants not to mention MAJOR chaffage!!

  4. I find a good way to date little e stuff is looking at the back of the rivets. around the early 60's XX through to 70's they used plain thin silver rivets. in 1982 these rivets had a little ring around the edge of the rivet. so check yours and see if there is that post 1982 ring

also top button stamp, the most common is 524 and is early 80's with the little silver ring on the back of rivet ( i have a few pairs, by far the cheapest way to find selvage in your size).

but as paul said the best little e stuff is single stitch with plain silver rivets and a single digit back button number like 6, 2, 8 etc. and they fade much better.

however you do find single digit stamp, double stitched back pockets.

    here are litte e examples

60's and 70's with no ring

  5. cheers guys!! yeah would have to be a long hard think before splashing out!

whats interesting is that you mention the contract was from 47-51, the patches on the arms actually say '1956 squadron' or what ever the correct military term is, cant remember off hand.

also another noob question... the same place has a similar 'early 50's' horsehide, union made A-2 jacket WITH handwarmers. am I right in thinking that handwarmers are a much later/more commercial thing and isnt actually classed as vintage?

    thanks again!

  6. Advice needed.

Found a fantastic vintage 1950's G-1 flight jacket, took this sneaky phone pic of the label...could some one tell me if this commands £595? cos thats what they want for it! great condition with authentic patches from 50's.

what should one expect to pay?

  7. Interesting that the buckle looks exactly the same as the ones used on later one pocket 506 XX Levi Jackets!

found some interesting details about them including the patent of the 'slide' as its called not buckle here

again would rep but must spread! great stuff man!

  8. I know these. I had those held off for me when they were in the Selfridges store, but I ended up not buying them since I'm a ts 34 waist, and they measured up at 37 or 38. No one had any proper information on them, not even if they were unsaforized or not. I searched the web for some hours and found a Japanese site that had some info on them back then (late summer 2010), but I can't seem to find back to it now.

The denim is one of their (less extreme) nep fabrics (nep being small knots of fiber, intentionally or unintentionally embedded within the yarn before weaving). It is also a tight woven light weight fabric, compared to the typical No.1 and 2 denims you find on a standard Evisu MiJ pair of jeans. You should expect 1-2 inches of shrinkage; however, I have not tried this out myself, so your results should be interesting.

its funny that you mention that because on a recommendation from my boss at the time I actually asked about these in Selfridges last year. They pulled a pair out of the draw under the denim rack and i had one look at the £395 price label and walked away.

These were marked as a 36 and looked mahusive! Like you I wear a 34, but when I tried them on the waist was good, i didn't need a belt. and with the first rinse i figure they would shrink down perfectly. i'm considering getting them tapered but i think with a few turn ups and rinse they will be cool. I'm almost positive they arn't sanforized.

and yeah, they are very hairy (like a few of my dead stock 60's levi's) so you are right about the yarn. the salesman told me they had only like a total of 10 pairs of these back then. so its posible they are the Selfridges ones! if you are wondering..they were half price with a further 20% off and because I had heard about them before I bought them straight away at what I thought was an amazing deal.

I learned the hard way 'coming back later' to buy when I was so so close to buying the evisu heritage brown box jeans which are a very similar greeny colour denim. http://www.scosurfing.com/evisu-raw-jeans-worn-unwashed/

came back and they were sold out.

I'm yet to rinse them so if you still want them pm me an offer! haha

  9. quick heads up Beyond Retro (bricklane) have a cute little 1960's wrangler blue bell jacket for £50. from memory in a size 14? its very small! deff not age 14 if thats what it means.

    same is this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&hash=item2eb3f3b44b&item=200587588683&nma=true&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&rt=nc&si=34ADzOGr58rP%252FUXAqZn1yH9zsM8%253D#ht_500wt_922

Would have snatched this up at maybe half that price but maybe it could go to a good home!
