Might find a roman coin if I'm lucky here...

ps this book is on my xmas list!

  2. just to give hope to the thrifters out there..

I stopped during lunch at a thrift shop and got 2 pairs of little e red-lines, 1 pair of vintage lees (no selvedge) but talon 42 and union tag, and 1 pair of prps purple selvedge jeans...

Not a bad haul.... They might pay for a new sewing machine I have my eye on...

    Where do you live?

  3. After seeing that wrangler jacket have just started a new series of posts about ebay sales on my vintage denim blog

Has anyone here had any experiences of buying vintage denim on the bay?

A vintage dealer I know swears NEVER to use ebay ' cos you aint know what ya gettin'

  4. i haven't had time to follow this brilliant thread properly lately, so sorry if this has already come up (might well've). Anyone in London should take a look at the Eadweard Muybridge (flying horse, zoopraxiscope, father of film etc etc) show at Tate Britain. Really nice.

One of the things I didn't know about him is that he lived and worked in San Francisco in the 1870s. There's a fantastic 7ft panorama of the whole city in 1877, exactly the time jeans were evolving:

obviously being a panorama it's rather a wide image... low res but bigger here. It's amazingly detailed- I found it lovely looking down into the streets and imagining what it would've been like to walk through them. Spent embarassingly long and had to rush round the rest of the exhibition to catch up with my friend:rolleyes:

Fantastic image, thanks for posting will check it out for sure

  5. This thread is just amazing, have spent the best part of the last hour reading every page...Didn't know there was this much appreciation for vintage here. The storys about the old shops in the 70's and 80's are brilliant, shame they no longer exist!

I actually run a blog about the difficulties finding vintage denim in the UK, trying to locate the very few places that still stock this stuff. Have posted it on the LVC thread with good response but I really should post it here.

ps just got my hands on a 50's type 2 levi jacket will post details over the next few days.

  7. wow, interesting that you have come across another pair of 302's! I had never heard of them and had always thought the youth jeans were 701's. The guy who owns them has had them on his shop wall for years or so he said. The dungarees were from the same guy,

where did you get those 302's??
