  1. Thanks! Yeah the fit is adjusting nicely, got some extra room in the shoulders after a couple of days. On my jacket, measuring from the highest part of the top seam to the hem is right at the 62 cm mark which is the same as the size chart from sculpstore. Interesting that your kakishibu version is a cm longer!
  2. Some pics of my other two denim jackets. the oni secret denim type 3 (size42 one washed) worn for on and off during fall winter months. The oni 16oz beige weft type two. (also 42) Worn much more frequently as the large pockets are very useful and hold a notebook easily. One last pic of the kapitalee. As it breaks in a bit more it is certainly growing on me.
  3. Yes perhaps a bit narrow, esp compared to a type two or three. It is interesting, the snugness that is presenting itself in the photo now that i look at it (the fabric stretching around the bottom buttons) is from wearing the jacket buttoned while sitting. While actually standing, it doesn't pull at all. I suppose this is mostly a function of wearing the jacket dry after I had soaked it. It has apparently taken a mold of my torso while sitting and is maintaining that shape even after standing up. Maybe not the best decision after all haha.
  4. Kapital sumi dyed Century Denim Western. I've been wearing it a lot the past couple of days since it arrived. Even though this is the longer version, I'd say it's still pretty short compared to most other jackets, though for the lee western cuts I suppose that is to be expected. I went with size 42 long same as my oni jackets, though this is definitely a more fitted cut then either of those. Cold soaks only.
  5. Nice! I would have gone for the kakishibu as well if it were available. I tried to get as little shrink as possible as I already seem to be bordering size 42 so I only cold soaked it and hung it to dry. Definitely only cold hand-washes for this piece for me. After a day or two wearing it about the house it has started to drape much better and fit is getting more comfortable as the shoulders break in. Texture on this thing is still so crisp and bumpy unreal. The sumi dyed left hand base fabric is beautiful in its own right but the subtle diamond pattern in the sashiko stitching really takes this thing over the edge.
  6. The jacket is definitely still on the shorter side of things. Take into account I have a long torso and short legs (5'10" w a 30inch inseam) and the oni512xx are pretty low rise. I need to try combining them with some higher rise pants for better balance. I could probably size up to a 44 but none were available. We'll see how this breaks in down the road.
  7. I've had my eye on something in the century denim for a while now, the fabric is just too incredible to stay away from. Scooped this 42 long from a Korean retailer I'd never heard of before, http://sculpstore.co.kr/. It was such a deal I had to take a chance. Their service was excellent though and the package made it to nyc in 3 days! Really enjoying the jacket so far, its had an initial soak just to get some sizing out. Fit is perfect for just a t-shirt underneath.
  8. Just got the 512 id x id (size 30 raw) jeans in from Denimio last night. My amazing wife ordered these for me as a late Birthday present and I couldn't be more pleased with how this new fabric turned out. They're an incredibly dark midnight blue nearly black. These are the lightest weight ONI denim I've handled but they feel just as substantial as the 16oz xx fabrics, very crisp. Right out of the bag the pleasing indigo aroma is twice as strong. The slub is rather pebble like, I can already see bits of white on the peaks. I am really liking the dark mustard pocket bags and bronze hardware. The 512 fit is pretty much the same as all their other 512 fits in different denims, any difference experienced is most likely due to fabric qualities. Pre/Post Hot soak pic:
  9. Thought I'd post a pic of the type 2&3 jackets. I never got around to posting about it I received the type 2 for christmas and it has been my primary jacket since. Really love them both though, however since my dedicated winter jeans have been the secret denim 502zr the type 3 hasn't seen as much use. As far as shrinking/ stretch they're both size 42, the type3 being one washed and the type 2 was raw then hot soaked twice for a perfect fit, no real stretching noticed. For reference, 5'9" 170lb w/ size 30 oni502zr.
  10. I gave my 512xxBE their 6-7 Month wash and I think they're coming along nicely. Now that nyc is cooling down a bit I have the opportunity to break out some of the heavier weight pairs so the 512xx will get a bit of a break in the coming months. Natural lighting details
  11. I sized these the same as my 512xxbe which I got in 30o/w, and they've pretty much stretched back out to raw measurements. I wouldn't say these were sized tts I mean the tagged size 30 is 34" waist raw and pretty much stretches back to that after a couple wears post soak. Using a measuring tape my actual circumference where the jeans sit is around 34/35inches. Just depends how tight you want them I suppose. Generally I'd trust the BiG size chart.
  12. Thanks guys. Now I just have to wait for the weather to get a bit cooler around nyc so I can break out my secret denim tuxedo haha.
  13. When I saw that they were releasing the secret denim in the 512 silhouette I couldn't resist. It might be my favorite denim they produce, it really feels like something demonic is woven into the fabric. Got the 502zr size30 raw and the fit is almost identical to my 512xxBE after an initial hot soak. Anyways, here are some fit pics. compared to my 527
  14. A couple weeks ago I decided to give my 3 month old 512xxBE a handwash with a little Dr.Bronners. I'm really enjoying how the flecks of highlights emerge from the peaks of the slub on this pair. Not a particularly dramatic change from pre/post wash which is ideal since they're still pretty early on. (pre) (post)
  15. Thought I'd share a few pics of the jacket shot under natural lighting.
