  1. funny how you see it takes such a short time, but the turnaround for a chainstitch job is always much longer... lol

I just have to say that is not true for Blue in Green. I bought a pair of Samurais there the other day and it took less than 20 minutes from paying to having my jeans hemmed and walking out the door. I don't know the guy's name(not Gordon) but he is completely helpful with any questions and choosing the length to get them hemmed. I came back 3 days later to get them a bit shorter, same deal. Even said to bring them back again if I want them shorter. :D

  2. So I just won those 1963 551z. Only a bit worried about the waist but hopefully it works out. Excited to have a pair of 555s with older denim. Could anyone tell me what the 551 means? I know it has a zipper and kinda straight tapered leg, just didn't know if it was based off the 501 or not. I was just about to get a pair of 66s too.

  3. I debated about waiting to pick up a pair of the 24oz but I couldn't wait anymore. I also tried on a pair of 0500xx which had some unique denim to them. It was a hard choice between the two but my lady said she liked the denim more on the 710xx. She thought all the extra slubs coming out of the 0500xx were mistakes. :o

  4. So I completely forgot to take pre-soak measurements cause I was such in a rush to soak them that I only really know that the inseam was 34.5" cause that is what I had it hemmed to. I wore them for an hour or so last night after they completely dried. Here is a comparison from BiG's pre soak to my post soak.

    tagged size 33

    w: 34" > 33"

    fr: 11.5" > 11"

    br:15" > 14.75"

    t: 12.5" > 12"

    k 9.25" > 8.75"

    lo: 8" > 8"

    i: 34.5" > 33"

I also tried on a pair of Lot 13 tagged 32 but I was afraid they would shrink to be too tight.Maybe BiG hasn't updated their measurements for the new Lot 14 and online is from Lot 13. From what I remember people have said that 710 continually shrink so I am looking forward to a bit more overall shrinkage so have a more fitted pair. I took some fit pics but they aren't the best.

  5. Thanks onehundy and superbeveridge,

the rrl boots are out of my price range...I was more looking for viberg or wesco engineer boots.

Does anyone have experience with Frye engineer boots?

I have looked at most of theirs and the Brando Engineer is probably the best. A few members on here have them and it is easy to find pictures of good looking worn in pairs.

  6. has anyone ever tried to remove buttons (suspender buttons in particular)?

how did you do it? any marks left?

I removed some Bucksaw Logger buttons I put on a few months from my Warehouses. I first tried smashing them thinking that they would easily fall apart but it actually sandwiched the denim between the two pieces and ended up ripping a hole about the size of the button back. Then I used two pliers to pull the two pieces apart and that worked. It only left a hole the size of nail.

I am not too sure though if they were originally put on by the company say Levi's though. They are probably way tougher to remove.

  7. Thanks Setterman for the reminder! Stopped by BiG today after work and picked one up as well as a Baracuta jacket. The graphic is great and the selvedge detail on the back is a nice touch. Now I just have to decide if I want to wear/use it or frame it! :D
