    Sugar Cane SC40051 Union Stars

LHT denim, 13.75oz if I rmb correctly..

10.5 months (9.5 months actual wear), 4-5 hot soaks, no wash

these guys have been to Hong Kong, China, Japan, New York, Toronto..

not a lot of people has these because of the huge star on the pockets, but I like the way it turned out

  2. I know it is presoak, but post soak, after 5-10 wears, it will stretch back out..

shrinking process does not lead to any loss of fabric, they just become closer together and the gaps between the fabric are closed up.. you can easily stretch it

  3. Those look awesome ah_long. Love their colour / texture.

Pardon my naivety' date=' but what exactly is Hank Dyeing?[/quote']

before weaving the denim, each bunch of threads is hand dipped into natural indigo and then let dry in the air.. repeat for over 10 times, hence the difference in colors and that's why you see the vertical patterns..

another interesting thing about this denim is all the indigo is grown in japan rather than from other countries.. if you see these jeans in person, you'll be immediately in love with the texture and color

  4. I love the fit and finish on these. Probably the nicest pair of N&F jeans i've seen (of course with the price tag to go with them). That hank dyed denim looks amazing, and the fit looks really good. I like how it looks stovepiped in that size. I can't believe you got them to stand up, aren't they a lighter weight denim?

    14.5 oz sanforized RHT denim...

it doesn't have to be heavy weight to stand up, the denim is stiff and it feels like a piece of cardboard...

super nice color, did these cost an arm and a leg?

after the discounts, the price is on par with most high end japanese denim.. considering this pair is hank dyed, it's worth it IMO..

don't expect it to fade much though, I love the color as is, and chances are I'll be wearing this only a couple of times a week.. for project jeans, I have my sugar canes and 1937LVC... I also have 3 other pair of jeans int he closet waiting to be soaked..

in fact, after the initial soak, the denim barely lost any indigo, it was nothing like the LVC1937..

  5. it also depends on whether it's natural indigo or synthetic.. you won't see very contrasty fades on natural indigo.. i just did an initial soak on my hank dyed natural indigo weird guys today, it barely lost any color, it barely transferred any indigo on my finger when I rub it on purpose.. on the other hand, the LVC's lose indigo like mad.

  6. after trying them on and off again, i think i'll stack these and not bother with the hemming.. it's a shame it doesn't come factory chain stitched, but this is not a repro, so i could accept the single stitch..

now i just need to wait for a reply from Brandon to give me additional information regarding this pair of denim

  7. i actually recommend sizing down on the waist for 37's (which is going for true to tag size), that way the thighs and leg opening would be slimmer..

or maybe I'm just not so used to the way it fits.. i still prefer my sugarcane union stars in the winter.. the 1937 is too fin, and it lets too much cold air in

  8. yes that is correct.

it's a little bit sportier than my usual taste but i guess it will function well as an everyday watch.

i got that same watch as a gift from an ex gf...

would it buy it for myself? probably not.. too expensive for a quartz movement watch..

    definitely not a springdrive/kinetic though

  9. I found a few scraps of some raw denim from my flat heads when i got then hemmed, and I'm thinking about covering the palmrest of the keyboard with the denim to see how it would fade. Just an idea. Any comments?

use it to make a tampon and shove it up your ass, you'll have nice brown vintage fades...

I agree w/ edmond, you need to get a life..

  10. price is not bad @ all for a pair of hank dyed natural indigo denim..

i probably wouldn't start on it soon anyways.. i'll see if i could bring it back to hk for take5 to hem it.. if anything, i'll see if i could send it to N&F in montreal to get it hemmed there

  11. they came single stitch.. but I do believe they are too long, they will get hemmed.. I'll try to get someone to do a chain stitch hem on it, but it's rather hard to find someone who could do it in toronto..

the pair set me back @ 309 less 25% from Barney's Outlet in NY

    and yup, they are stiff..
