  1. Q: I took about a week off while home in America... came back, and did my typical workout 3 days ago, and am still quite sore. Mostly I'm doing squats, deadlifts, bench presses, etc, and have been in a solid routine for a few years (with the exception of a few weeks here or there).

I guess I'm wondering... are my muscles healed enough after 48 hours to lift again today? Or are they only "healed" once they're no longer sore? Any recommended reading on this matter?

  2. I've only ran into one guy wearing nice-ish jeans, it was a pain of nudies. we talked for about 10 minutes kinda weird, especially because his girlfriend was there and kept on trying get him to leave, but we kept on talking ha!

Reminds me of my gf... when we go to a particular shop together, I sometimes talk about jeans and shit with a dude that works there. She just gives me this look... then after we leave calls me gay (no 'mo).

  3. Good idea Wayne... help prevent some of these retarded "WTB: Hermes socks" threads.

    My WTB:

Nom de Guerre classic-cut denim in sz. 36

(already have the jet black and reverse weave)

Rag&Bone shirts (military/western style) in XL

Iron Heart 14 oz. denim shirt in XL

    (or heavy chambray)

pm with pics if you have any of these you're looking to sell. thanks.

  4. Ugh, Harrods is horrendous.. tacky, gaudy, full of tourists and nouveau riche big spenders who buy things not for the design or quality but for the right label and the attached status..

Liberty, on the other hand, totally respects the design of stuff and they've created the right environment for that, and you can tell their buyers don't just go in for the big names, but then again you keep hearing about how Liberty isn't doing too well financially...

+Rep... couldn't agree more. I don't know anything about the financial status of Liberty, but if they are in relative trouble, it's perhaps just a symptom of how much of society has lost its' sense for real fashion/quality/design. I often find myself wondering while on the street "did people always dress this badly?" I do think it's gotten worse this decade.

As for Sabbath, Liberty have PRPS, but the only kind worth getting is the raw, purple-selvedge version (conveniently enough, the least expensive). Alas, even Liberty carry the pre-distressed PRPS, along with a (select) few other tacky labels. I haven't lived in London long enough to notice any trends regarding what they carry, but it would be a shame for them to move towards the Harrods approach.

  5. So here's the 21cm's I was referring to earlier. Sorry for the average pics, I only just got them so they still need some wearing in. Anyway, does the leg opening in the side on pic look excessive? They look more like a bootcut then a straight leg. I'm probably being pedantic, but a 20cm leg opening on a pair of size 27s seems kinda excessive to me

Dude that's how my 21cm's look, and I got them from Brown's, in person... so they're legit. Can't say for sure about yours without seeing the tag, but going by the fit, that's about right for a 21cm.

  6. maybe people should get discount on chainstitch if we live in the States, since shipping cost would be cheaper for you

Better yet, be taller and you won't need hemming.

Edit: NICE panda! You planning on doing a warm soak or anything? It's pics like that have me damn close to copping.

Basically, they're awesome (see photos). Cop and you'll get as much pussy as this guy used to (no matter how ugly a belt you wear with them):

  9. Picked up this Rag & Bone chambray off eBay. Very nice detailing, selvedge side gussets, chinstrap, very long arms. Denim was fairly raw, photos are taken after about 10 wears.

No soak, as I was afraid of it shrinking. Anybody venture an educated guess as to whether it's sanforized? Possibly Cone Denim? Either way, when I do wash, it'll be cold.

Usually wear it tucked, apart from that last picture.

  10. About to cop but the rise is tripping me out... I'm stuck between a 34 and 36.

The 38" waist on the 36 is going to be a little loose starting out, relative to my other jeans (34 in Dior Homme and 36 in Nom de Guerre classic cuts, both of which have 36" waist). But the 9.8" rise on the DB 34 is making me think they'd have to sit a bit lower on my hips (as opposed to 11.5" rise in DH and 12" in NdG).

Around my hips I'm much closer to 39", so I'm led to believe I probably need a 36... could anybody validate/refute my logic here? I know the "fit" of these jeans has been covered ad infinitum but I'm still not sure.

  11. and now to be a hypocrite, i do have a sizing question -- how are the hips? are these a true straight cut down the hip? would you mind giving us a BiG-style thigh measurement, straight out from the crotch seam, parallel to the waistband?DO YOU?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Whoa whoa whoa! I thought that's how thigh-measurements ARE taken??

I've been comparing size 34 in these to my 21cm Diors of the same size... and the measurements are exactly the same in every way but for a lower rise. Thighs on the Diors measure 12 inches if done BiG style... and so I figure with 12 inch thighs for the DBxSE, I'm covered either way. If it's measured even lower, all the better.

Sincere apologies for yet another sizing issue, but could anyone (to save Kiya the trouble) confirm where Self Edge measures thighs?

  12. Definitely bring a small umbrella, it'll be spring weather, but it will rain. Pick up an A to Z and try and walk often, as there's plenty to see. Use the tube for longer journeys.

For shopping, the RO store opened not long ago, it's in Mayfair. If you want to check out Browns, you may as well look at Selfridges, just a few minutes away, as they have much of the same stuff, but it's much larger. Still I think the best shop is Liberty, on Regent Street, as opposed to the Library, where I've been spending far too much time lately (postgrad concept). Also, remember to ask for a VAT refund on larger purchases (anything over £100).

For fish and chips, I recommend Rock and Sole Plaice in Covent Garden. For partying, the Shoreditch/Hoxton area is cool, comparable to the lower east side in NYC I suppose. Also, on the weekend I'd recommend visiting Borough Market, maybe combining it with a visit to the Tate Modern (free). Hope this helps.

  13. Those aren't Butler Worn, they were bought for $75 off supermarket: http://www.superfuture.com/supertalk/showthread.php?p=1655198

Love that he copied the original seller's description too, with the exception of this:

EDIT: Missed this, apparently he tried putting them right back up on supermarket too: http://www.superfuture.com/supertalk/showthread.php?t=145059

Dude deserves some serious negging for buying a pair of jeans and immediately re-listing them on the market at 5x the price he paid.
