Out of curiosity, is there any general consensus as to the running order of Bolano's books?

Of the 4 or so I have read, this one is the most rich.

I've heard it suggested that "The Joke" (which is explored in greater detail later in the novel) is an allegory for the book itself, one that people stick with for longer and longer until they realize they're just being fucked with, the jokes on them!, and then they just give up. anyone who finishes didn't get it!

(this is awesome in a way that is so meta I can barely begin to wrap my brain around how many levels of mind-fuck are actually at play here)

This was my exact thought after a hundred pages or so. Why else would you make it so long? It doesn't need to be as long as it is, but it's so entertaining that I just keep reading anyway. And over a hundred pages of notes? Really? The filmography list of Himself contained quite a few "films" that never reached production. Fictional conceptualisations of fictional films that were never actualised by a (deceased) fictional character.

As I was reading that particular endnote I kept thinking, why am I bothering to read this? But the other film info given was just too funny to risk not reading all of them. Definitely a work of genius on some level...

I fully support this. I like to think I'm a pretty good seller in the supermercado, and I'm always honest about the wares. Fuck this guy's dishonesty. Name names. I like to avoid sellers like this.

Anyone know when we can expect a price drop on the Blops map packs? Haven't been into CoD long enough to know if they reduce prices prior to next release. Would make a lot of sense since relatively few people will play Blops after MW3 release.

i don't have a problem with the noises JAV idols make, its just that 90% of them, despite being amazingly good looking, actually appear to be terrible at sex. like, alot of it is actually boring to watch. also, what is with the constant probing with weird vibrators and shit? i swear every JAV release has at least one of those scenes.

An Australian I met in Japan had lived there previously for a few years and dated some Japanese girls. He did the best impression of Japanese girls having sex. It involved a lot of passive writhing and whimpering. And was hilarious.

Oh, just a quick update. In a futile attempt to shake my nefarious reputation in this thread, I will no longer be making inappropriate jokes about children. Instead, I will be making offensive jokes about a range of other socially unacceptable topics. I know they're just trying to bring some levity to the WAYWT--hey, whatever floats your boat shoes--but the frequency is getting kinda ridiculous and/or stupid.

Will everyone just please stop fucking jumping up and down for WAYWT shots? Otherwise I'll just turn this thread into an unfunny, jumping-related pun dump.

In general though the endnotes bog things down so I wouldn't sweat them even though they do give you laughs a lot of the time and at points point out things you'd never guess otherwise.

The endnote containing the comprehensive filmography of the late Incandenza sr ("Himself" hahaha) was some of the funniest stuff I've read in a while.

BF3 and MW2.5 are the only games I care about for the foreseeable future. Glad a non-RTS gaming threak got started...

I'm new here, but love seeing all of the projects in this thread. I've been learning how to design and make my own clothes for about a year and a half now. I thought I would share some pictures of a pair of selvedge denim jeans I finished earlier this year. The denim is a 12.5 oz from Cone Mills.

These are amazing. I'd pay good money for a pair of these.
