  1. I think this applies to every single highschool kid that is complaining:

FUCK YOURSELF. HIGH SCHOOL IS THE EASIEST TIME OF YOUR LIFE AND I'D GO BACK IF I COULD. YOU'RE JUST NOT EMBRACING IT.

    THIS.

High School > Undergrad > Postgrad >> Job aka Real Life.

High School is the greatest time ever. If you disagree you are just not doing it right. The amount you are required to learn is stupidly small (in a relative sense), and the study is hella easy. The holidays are long. Drugs are plentiful (and alcohol if you have some older friends). You have little responsibility except maybe for a casual job (casual). Everything shines with novelty.

Undergrad is fun because you're of legal age and will meet many like-minded and diverse people of the same age. Like highschool but exams mean something and you probably require more $$ to live. Some of the novelty of drugs/sex is lost.

Postgrad is like undergrad except that you need to think about a career and work damn hard towards that and supporting yourself.

Job/Real Life sucks. I actually really like my job but this seems to be the exception. And even then, I still have a lot of responsibility and have to work harder than I used to.

Honestly, I can't emphasise this enough. If you are not enjoying high school you need to take a step back, slap yourself, and re-evaluate your social circle and lifestyle choices. High school was a fucking blast. I keep trying to convince myself that 30 is the new 20, but let's be real, it's all downhill from 25.

  2. ^Yeah, no shit. I suspected that from the first post. SSJ has always been straight with me. The WORST problem I've ever had across 20+ orders is maybe a slow delivery once or twice (often from a complicated order).

You should be careful that you are not in error when publicly shitting on a reliable proxy's reputation... just for future reference.

The team at SSJ are awesome. No doubt.

  3. i hope you score a fulbright. i got "recommended" by the fulbright ctte but wasn't actually chosen/funded. *weep*

Thanks, man. I don't like my chances, it sounds ridiculously competititve. But my publication record is pretty good and I managed to get a letter of invitation from a pretty big name in my field based on my PhD work, so we'll see. Interviews in Oct if I make the first cut.

  4. spiders in my dreams again
Woke up this morning thinking there was a spider on my stomach but it was just the drawstrings of my pyjamas...

If you're that scared of spiders, never come to Australia. A friend had this thing in her room but lost sight of it before she went to bed. It fell out of her clothes and onto her foot while she was getting dressed. That is a bobby pin for reference. And its legs are curled up. It was about twice that size sprawled out.

  5. I always get pissed off when I see other cyclists do irresponsible things like this. Gives all cyclists a bad name. Never gonna get fair treatment on the road with so many dickheads around :(

US law seems so crazy sometimes. On what grounds would he sue if he was the one riding recklessly/illegally?

  6. WTF

my dad just called home and said he hit some bicyclist accidentally. dude got sent to the hospital.

FUCK. anybody ever deal with this shit? we have insurance and whatnot, but still. this is fucking crazy.

I've been cycling around most of Sydney city as a primary mode of transport for about 5 years. Only ever had one accident. Had a guy pull out at a T-intersection as I was riding straight past it. I had right of way but he just didn't look before he moved. This was literally the only time I can remember not making eye contact with a waiting driver at an intersection. I just figured he must have seen me since it was dusk, I was in bright clothing, and I had multiple flashing lights attached. WRONG.

Anyway, he hit me as he was pulling out so it was fairly low speed and I just kind of jumped backwards off the bike as it went flying across the road. The guy was pretty shaken up. I was pretty shaken up. Exchanged numbers and I told him I'd give him a call if I needed replacement bike parts. Messaged him later to say it was all good.

  7. ^Will play soon. The Humble Indie Bundle #3 was so good. 5 new games, 2 bonus games, plus all 5 games from Bundle #2 if you payed more than $5.82.

I can really support that sort of distribution model. It's so damn reasonable and easy to use that nobody really has any excuse to pirate any of those games.

I'm really loving all the indie development going on these days. Low budget does not always mean low quality.

Side-scrolling survival horror platformer with 16-bit graphics?! Hell, yes.

  8. Come on, that WAYWT was begging for it, consent or no consent.

Tell me that pic isn't fucked up tho. What sort of grown man drags his kid into a public toilet so he can take a photo of his clothes to post on the internet? Public toilet WAYWTs are bad enough, don't drag your kids into it.

Edit: I owe dismal some rep. I read that caption in Tyrone Biggums' voice and it makes me laugh EVERY time.
