  1. Kiya - Faux-native chick is a freebie, keep that in the boner file for later. Bought some jeans from your store over the weekend since I was up at Charlie's Place getting parts.

Crayon - no engines laying around my man, barley have enough space to work on this single bike at my apt. What are you doing with your 750?

I sourced F2 wheels, new brake rotors front and rear, and new tires. I'm just thinking about going to 900cc.

  2. If paraffin is a waxy coating on the loggers, can water wash it off (eventually) or is that coating on there for good?
why would you want to take it off?

I think he means to ask whether the coating will eventually come off due to wear and tear.

How stiff are those jeans with the paraffin coating though?

also, my pocket bags are pretty close to falling off so I think I'm going to try and make new pockets out of a different fabric. I'll keep you guys updated.

  3. ADDIC, where in CA are you located? I just decided to sell my '81 Honda cb750 if you're at all interested in checking it out, I'm in East Palo Alto

    CL ad here: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/mcy/1793141603.html.

In any case, Honda's are great to learn to ride and wrench on, you'll probably want to get a bigger bike super quick after riding that 250.

I saw that ad this morning and was tempted but then found out it was a K model. and that I also have an 82 CB750F that I'm still working on.

You wouldn't happen to have an extra engine lying around...?

  4. Didn't know where else to ask this and it seemed like you guys would know about cellphones. I hate my Blackberry Bold 9700. I absolutely hate how buggy it is, how my contacts refuse to sync, how it lags and all that stupid stuff. I do like Android and I loved my G1.

Recommend me a phone. I like keyboards, nokia, and android. Budget is around $350 but CL is an option.

  5. I always like the 94x series by benchmade but could never find something that didn't look like a letter opener.

Here's my Benchmade after 3 months.

the scales are anodized aluminum and it's rubbing away leaving a nice 'silver lining'.

I wish Benchmade made more knives like this, especially since the CPM M4 steel is terrific. I rarely have to sharpen my knives and they stay razor sharp for at least a month. Tip hasn't chipped either which is surprising since I use it to turn the ignition on my scooter.

  6. Looking to pick up a new helmet. Feelin those Biltwells (especially the colour options) but if I'm gonna wear a helmet I'd like it to be DOT and protect me if I do go down.

The Bell Custom 500 looks like a good alternative. Apparently it's not mushroom status either. Really digging the orange flake... should look killer with some pinstripes.

Right now I'm between the Bell and Fulmer V2. Anyone have either of these?

    Been wanting this forever...

  7. Very nice but an expensive knife (for some) and i'm not sold on the round handle. If you're looking for a beastly knife, look at the ESEE / RAT RC6. Friend has one and it's a beast.

The round handle and one piece construction were the two features I liked most. Hate having edges on a knife handle to dig into my hand. I've tried a couple RAT knives but want something more corrosion resistant. Looking at picking up the Strider x TADgear Dive Utility Knife and then using a rubber and micarta grip

  8. I've been trying to find an amazing fixed blade for some time now. I've tried the various Benchmades and a couple other makers including Busse and Emerson.

What about this Chris Reeves One-Piece Knife? Has a hollow handle with removable cap. Thought that might interest fellow EDC-ers.

However, I'm also looking at Zero Tolerance and Strider Fixed Blades... So tempting.

  9. i jump rope. a lot. i don't really know, for me i feel like it has helped me stay lighter on my feet...

    this.

i got away with not running by doing 2minutes of jump rope between each of my sets. a total of 20 or so minutes of jump roping.

however, once i started running more and more, especially on pavement, i got shin splints. :(
