After a first "hand wash" at home around the four-month mark. These were one-wash from Yu. My high-efficiency washer has "gentle hand wash" cycle, so I consider this it's first hand wash.
I contacted Yu again this past week to have another pair or two made, but he's busy 'til the end of the month. When he returns, were gonna sit down and discuss the way ahead. I'm gonna request that the next piece(s) be raw.
At seven months now, these babies are looking really sweet!

All the Cognacs need is a little sun bathing and it transforms them into something special. You can't tell with my crappy photo, but the creases develop a darker color ... i love that about 'em.

I've got all the photos and just have to do the write up of the buckle swap. Might get to it this weekend.

^ I own RC's in 7.5 and 8 and had the Julian-made RRL's in a size 8. They fit exactly as my 7.5 RC's. Not familiar with Murdock sizing.

^ I've been meaning to do a little write up on them for the blog, but have been busy with my leather. I'll try and put something up this weekend.

Updated photos of my favorite 1950's style Engineers (both my MF RC's remain my favorite early century style)
The black pair is getting the most use and aging well and the toe box has flattened nicely. These boots are unreal and definitely in a league of their own.
My Cognac's fresh out of the box while I was on vacation. Unfortunately I wanted to travel light without having to check a bag, so I made the call to have them sent to me at a later date.
Here they are a bit darker after some sun bathing and about two weeks of wear

Three month wait, 21oz. and only sixteen days of everyday wear. Gotta git off my lazy butt and write a post about the experience before I drive back up the street and order another pair.

I plan to document as much as I can my blog starting today. I can't express how super excited I am about this company and the potential for some great pieces.

Hmmmm, not sure if I got a "local" price, but I was quoted much less for 21oz.

Honestly, there's so much information about the options he has available on this thread alone that if you knew what waist, inseam and extra options you wanted, it would be a fairly easy order. One other pocket bag option not mentioned here (that I went with) was military green HBT.

When I finally came across it, I was expecting to just snap a photo of the shop from the outside, but there he was sewing away. He noticed me hovering and welcomed me in. Next you know I'm trying on a size 30 then a 28. It was like a consultation where he showed me all the options and past customer photo examples. I think I was being urged to let my imagination go wild, but I opted for something fairly plane - for plain now - and I told his interpreter (very, very kind lady) that I'm definitely coming back for more. I left and then something crossed my mind. I drove back and asked him about inseam. Turns out final inseam measurements are taken when I pick 'em up.
I'm now finally over the 25oz IH 666's I missed out on yesterday for $240. You snooze, you lose ... but not in this case. You snooze, you lose, then get custom-made jeans.

Found it! Ordered 21oz with not many options, but ... holy sheeet! whatever you can dream up, he'll do it. No joke! Before I leave this joint, I'm planning on at least 3-5 custom pairs. The worst part is that I'm only 5+ miles from the shop.

Yeah, they're rockin' out those champloo's like Henry Ford. I'm literally less than ten miles from the shop and can't find it. Today is the last of our four-day Veteran's Day weekend and may give it another go. I want a custom 21oz pair.

I decided to take a trip out to the Double Volante shop today thinking I could go off the Japanese Google map, but it turned out to be a disaster. According to the map, I had to make a right three streets past a KFC. Well, turns out all the lights (which usually indicate a major street in the U.S.) lead you to a tiny alley of sorts. I ended up making a right down a "real" street and ended up getting lost for over an hour. I ended up in Naha where I decided to hit up the outlet that had Beams and Levi's - holy sh*t! Not even a weave of selvedge!!!! WTF! All-in-all a bad denim day.
Anyone know good directions to Double Volante?
Cheers!

thanks aws! I suppose, but when I'm wearing them I'm really taken by the black vamp and heels with the freshly finished sole/heel edges.

My other pair is a size 7 1/2 and they fit like a glove. I purposely got the size 8 for that extra room in order to achieve flat toes. These are the shape of the toe box all the time.

that 'd-pocket' looks so cool; any idea what u will be storing in it?
I probably won't store anything in it for now ... it's really just something I wanted to do for a while.
