  1. I just have to maintain a 34-35" inseam for them to work. According to self edge I should see 3" of shrinkage. If that's it I will be okay. If it's more I'm rockin Floods!

oh well, then cold soak away my friend. you could probably even get away with a warm soak. just dont go crazy.

  2. Was at the Levi's Union Square yesterday. Apparently the 1915 will be discontinued this fall. The type 2 jacket will be part of this fall.

bad news followed by good news. the 1915 kicked so much ass. oh well, lisve fast die young.

  3. Just ordered the Californian jeans from SE. Anyone with a pair want to give some pointers on how to shrink the waist whilst not shrinking the inseam? Cold soak? I would dip the top block and leave the legs alone but I feel the color would then be different.

I think you're up shit-creek with that one there. Some people have stretched a pair out after soaking, I think almostnice did a pair like that; but there really is no good way to keep the inseam from shrinking but shrinking the waist band.

you could just soak the waist-area but what are you gonna do when they get dirty? dry clean them? thats just silly.

How short are you thinkin these are gonna be? I believe there is a little diddy on the mister freedom website about how they can be quite short and remain cool...which I tend to agree with to a certain extent.

    overall -realistic options

    - cold soak the whole thing and hot soak the waist ( but I think you'll still get 2 inches shrink outta the inseam.)

    - cold soak the whole thing, hope they're not too loose in the waist

    - hot soak and rock high waters

    - get something else.

  4. aw, damn, i repped u earlier which means I can't rep you for standing in your Roy x Cone with a Gretsch 6120 in front of 2,000 people!

    Congrats, looks cool!

haha, thanks Paul. I hadn't played the 6120 in a while with the band. It was great and I think I'm gonna do it more often. the epiphone casino had been my dedicated lonnie walker guitar for a long time.

  5. So when we won that battle of the bands, part of the deal to get the full $3500 was to play an opening slot for Third Eye Blind. I couldn't care less about Third Eye Blind, but it was still fun. I don't think we've played for a crowd that big, it was over 2,000 I reckon. Sound was real crappy, couldn't believe it.

a photographer there got some good shots of me in my RxCs so here those are...

  6. So I got a call from White's yesterday.

they told me they had just finished fixing the squeaky heel counter and were putting the boot back together when the repair guy "ripped up the welt". I'm not sure what the guy on the phone meant about this, but he said they'd be able to repair it but since I'd just gotten the boots they wanted to make me a new pair. They offered to do them up in 10.5D this time which I think will be more comfortable - but I'm not looking forward to having to break them in again...and in the dead of summer. But I am very happy that they told me about what happened and gave me a call. I think I'd be a little upset if I got my boots back and they were messed up and gerrry rigged. It'll be another 4-6 weeks before I get my new pair, but thats ok.

thanks again to White's for being such a great company.

  7. Farhad,

Just go with the 34s man. I think they're gonna be great. I made the mistake of getting 47s too small and I really regret it. crotch blow out city and overall too slim of a fit.

if you like the way the 33s fit right now, I think that definitely means get the 34s. If you want them to be tighter then the 33s, then get the 33s. I think one size up from what looks good on you is a good way to go.

Also with the 34s you wont have to worry about controlling shrinkage and all that obnoxious stuff. I hate having to do that.

  8. I think he means that the LVC stuff just fades more naturally, not like the IH and Samurai stuff that is engineered to fade real dramatically real fast, which is true...

that is true. I think that cones fabric holds its indigo better. but it is, in fact, rope dyed.

  9. In terms of the indigo, Levi's denim (cone denim, to be more exact) doesn't use rope dying or other techniques that make fading an easier process. The indigo is deep and takes a long time to fade.

    umm...thats just plain incorrect.

  10. modern "trucker jackets" are indeed longer than a vintage type 3. people can't handle wearing jackets like that anymore. I think a lot of it has to do with nobody tucking their shirts in anymore.

the new jackets look really bizarre to me, with how long they are.

  11. I've have two pairs of 47's that are easily going on 8 years of wear and the only area's that are really wearing through are the tops of the pockets and maybe the sides at the hips. Is this crotch thing everyone is having trouble with just the cause of wearing the jeans so tight?

    That's what I think.

  12. I have a question and was hoping some of the boot experts here could help me out.

The job that I'm starting in the next few months requires that I wear a steel toe boot that meets OSHA standards. Initially this was not a problem because Baker's had a steel toe option when customizing a pair of Bounty Hunters. However, I spoke with them today and was informed that White's will not put a steel toe on the Semi-Dress last. If I want to stick with White's, the folks at Baker's say my current options are Smoke Jumpers or Packers.

Basically, does anyone here have any suggestions for boots with a steel toe. I want something that I can also wear casually, that's what attracted me to the Bounty Hunters. I really wasn't looking for a huge 8 to 12 inch boot, but I'm afraid that's all White's has to offer.

Feel free to PM me, as I don't want to clutter up the thread.

you can customize the smoke jumper through baker's shoe to be a 6inch boot if you like. that'd be what i'd do.

  13. slide13 - Those look phenomenal

Every LTT I've tried compresses the shit out of the ball of my foot. I'll never bother with them again. When I went to White's, the person fitting me said he didn't like the LTT build and only recommended them in special situations, ie for strange feet.

I just dont like the way they look. I think the regular smokejumpers look better. What I read about the LTT design is that real smokejumpers and loggers like them because you can wear thicker socks with them. makes sense I guess.

  14. Seconded.

Btw, the british tan is the same leather as the semi dress?

They look kinda similar as the brown chrome excel in tone, dont they?

yeah, that british tan looks really nice. A little lighter brown than the chromexcel, looks like it would be a nice leather. Its a calf skin right? If I get another pair of white's I might end up going for that as a bounty hunter.
