  1. Yes, it makes the jeans less stiff. There is no need to soak sanforized jeans when you first get them. Unsanforized jeans are soaked because they shrink up considerably.

  2. Can anyone give me some insight on how Cures fit compared to New Cures?BTW Cures aren't mentioned at all on the FAQ.

I just find that new cures really strangle my calfs and since they're 100% cotton they don't really stretch at all. I wear a sz 28 and have fairly slim legs so I just wander if anyone else feels the same.

I was hoping that Cures would be pretty much just like new cures but with a little bit more room around the calf area. Anyone have any experience with both of them?

Unfortunately the only place I know in Sydney that stocks APCs doesn't have Cures so I can't try them on.

I don't think they make the Cures anymore. Did you try the NS?

  3. well not necessarily when the jeans are new and unstretched and measured flat

My size 27 NS measured 29" new, and have stretched about 2" from there.

  4. Can anyone tell me if APC still makes the Hipster or where I could find a pair of size 30's? Those are the best fitting jeans I've ever owned and I can't find another pair if my life depended on it !

  5. Got a pair of APC new standards with a month or so of wear. Fit-wise, they're tight in the thighs and fitted in the calves, which I like. However, they've developed fat knee bulges- the fabric in front of the knee is baggy and puffs out so it looks like I'm wearing knee pads. I think this is basically caused by the tightness in the thighs- I'm stretching out the upper portion of the knees, but not stretching out the bottom proportionally.

I'd like advice on two fronts:

    1) Can I fix this? They haven't been soaked yet; should I give them a hot soak and try to shrink them down again? Will this just delay the inevitable? Is their a tailoring solution?

    2) How do I stop this from happening with other jeans? Is it caused by the stretchy nature of APC denim, or by my large thighs in a slim-thigh jean? Are there skinny jeans I can wear that won't get this effect?

It's going to happen to any slim fitting jean and no, you can't do anything about it.

  6. Wait so since the Nudies and NC are sanforized that means they wont shrink if i only do cold washes for life.....so i can hem them to size as soon as i get them right....as they arent going to stretch down only out?

Sanforized jeans will shrink about 0.75" after washing, so take that into account. You'll probably be better off just washing them first if you are going to get them hemmed.

tried....left a faint white mark down the middle where the crease is.

Wear them to bed until they look better?

  7. K...

So I have a pair of light weight prada denim i wear when i need a break from the heavy raw denim i wear. I sent them to the cleaners for the first time a few days ago. Got them back and the fuckers have the nastiest crisp CREASE down the middle, not on the seems. It is the most unsigtly thing ever.

How the fuck do I get rid of it?

I was already told I'd just have to wear them to get the crease out, But id never wear these fuckers outa the house with that ugly ass crease. Any other ways?????????

    iron? (10)

  8. My friend Rob recently had his dog piss on his New Cures (jeans were barely a week old) and is still wearing them, unwashed! :o

I hope you told him he's a dumbass toolbag.

  9. when you say wash do you mean machine wash or soak. and if i wash right away wont i miss out on the wiskers etc or will this make it so they only come in mildy like i asked for? and by a cold wash wont they essentialy not shrink? i dont want to wash and dry the levis and ruin them if there is no hope, i would rather pass them onto someone else who can get some nice use out of them

With unsanforized denim you want to wash/soak before wearing. If you wear them in then wash/soak later, the denim will shrink up a considerable amount and all of your whiskers/honeycombs will be in awkward positions. They will still shrink with a cold soak, just not as much as a hot soak.

Also, I have no experience with STF Levi's but from what I've read, you probably didn't size up enough.

Is there any way to get the leg opening slightley smaller besides soaking?

If it is that important, you can take them to a tailor to get them tapered.
