  1. I messaged Kiya this morning. Here is his reply:

It's slightly streaky, it's the way the denim has been woven and dyed. The end result is a lot of vertical falling once the denim starts to fade."

Sounds the same. I asked him what technique exactly. The follow-up is almost pointless. I'm sure that the reasons are the same.

I'll post his follow-up when I do get it, though. Just to be safe.

  2. Yeah, the depth and strength of color seems to vary in the pants. I still think that the SEXSC are made in a similar manner. It's in the thread that it is a very slubby pair of pants.

I'll ask Kiya about that, though. Thank you very much for the pics!

Haha, I can't believe the Ori are also like that.. Just amazing.

  3. The denim has horizontal striations due to the patern of the slubs and it's hard to stop staring at it.

I'm curious. Are you referring to this sort of dye look?

That's me w/ my SEXSC. The dye on these pants are what makes me love them so damn much. I was wondering how they were able to do that. Haha, maybe I should just ask the man who was 1 half of the collab, Kiya.

  4. Loving the look with the boots, Edmond.

As for the canes, that's a hella nice snug fit! A lean straight. I think that's sick as hell. Before the SEXSC came out, I was all for buying a pair of Okinawas. And without further rambling, I'll cross-post my own fit pics on SEXSC.

Mind, they can be sized up. I chose to not get a 32", as Kiya recommended, for my 30" waist and went true to size. That's right, they're slim but not usually as tight as mine are if you size up a bit.

I'm 5'9" 150lbs. Also, I have a filled out frame for any concerns of my youth giving bad assumptions for fit.

P.S. I realize I kept rambling. That's one of my largest problems.

    REPOSTED FROM SEXSC THREAD:

I'm a bit nervous. Her first raw denim experience was KMW Rockers, and those aren't as stiff, initially rough as the SC denim. But she'll deal with it, they should soften up pretty quickly if she wears them enough.

Dude, my SEXSC took off the skin on the back of my left knee after the first two days. It might have been a bad idea to wear the pants straight through sleep for those first two days after arrival, though. That was a freakin' experience.. Gladly, it's healed just fine. Makes me wonder if I'll get a nice callus for breaking in future pairs, especially Iron Hearts.

Anyways, I had a day trip to my Cousin's Military School in Greensboro, VA, so I had the opportunity to take these pictures on the campus of the University of Virginia. It is such a beautiful place. Hell of a first time.

Mind, these are pictures after a cold soak for 1 hr, by Kiya's reccomendation. They are way tight on the thigh, but, again, the waist and inseam are just right.

6 days wear, 1 cold soak. Fade is fast. I love these babys.

Well, I also had to learn the hard way that my brother, who shot these photos, doesn't really have my back. He recomended that I go commando in order to wear these still partially damp pants easier after the cold soak shrinkage. What a jackass.

    Enjoy.

    Urr.. enjoy.

  5. There are easy to get predistressed with the simple sanding for combs, then there are those more rare, quality jeans that actually fold and crease as if they were broken in. That, along with proper placement of fading and subtlety, is what seals the deal for me.

Ya know, there are a few people that think I'm dirty for telling them that they're going to see me wearing the same pair of pants everyday for a year or so minimum.

Oh well, I say it's a phase. I just need to increase my Denim collection. That way, I'll just start cycling some sick nasty pairs with the most realistic break-ins.

    Oh, you know it.

With the cheap prices for bad predistressed and the overly high prices for quality predistressed, I think I'll stick with my wholesome denim to have the most realistic fades.

    Or maybe I'm just cheap..

  6. Solid stripes have that effect. In a previous job I worked for mass mass jeans manufacturer. Orders that use stripes actually cost more (for the mfg. to make) because operators would get nauseated/dizzy and take breaks. Since sewing cost analysis is done primarily by # of minutes required every second counts.

But different people have different levels of tolerances.

Very true. I'm a nancy boy. My pseudo denim tights of slim-cuts are testimony to that.

  7. Our new exclsive Cone Denim. White Oak Green Selvage, in celebration of the 100 year anniversary of the Cone White Oak plant. Teaser shot...

Mmm... so, that Herringbone makes me nauseous if I stare at it too long. I wonder if it has that effect in real life!

That fit is amazing! That alone sells it for me. Though, I feel like I should operate a steam train at least once if I were ever to own these jeans.

How would these look faded, if they would at all?

2x1 R/R Hickory, right? I probably mixed that up.

  9. People get pissy that I have a pair of AF1 Malone's in their box w/ original anti-crease inserts chilling in my room that I have worn twice in the 6 months I have owned them.

Oh well. It's nice to have a pair of shoes that you can collect or break out when it's least expected. People think you just bought sick ass new shoes everytime.

  10. Gahhh!!! Flash distortion! Retake some in the sun, M!

Anyways, I like that fit too. Mine are hella tight. Sometimes I feel like I am wearing denim tights. Fuck track. Now, my thighs are overly big and make slims feel like a 2nd skin.

I could have sized up. I still don't feel like I should have, though. These fit beautifully after they stretched. They were a fucking nightmare for a good while. No bending at the knees making an angle smaller than 100 degrees.

My only gripe is that they fit differently on my legs because of varying sizes. My left leg is 2x more muscular from medical issues, so they wear a bit odd. The left thigh is skin tight, and the right is just slim.

Oh well, they still look amazing. I smile everytime I slide them on/off.

  11. Ok, my grandma is a long-time, professional seamstress and I spent time with her just yesterday. She reinforced my backpocket from a hole with another piece of denim, so I took the time to convert her to recognizing quality jean denim.

She explained that "Mercerizing" is a process where the threads are dipped in a sort of acidic solution that strengthens the thread a lot.

That's all. I feel nauseous. Hate to cut things short.

  12. thank you fre$co

    try again

    Hi there,

wanted to share my collection of Red Wings,

    from left to right 2268, 9027, 877, 8131, 1909 (limited anniversary edition), 9124

    2178.jpg

Damn, I love the color and style on the 1909's. The detail shots are even better. What price range would those normally run both new and used?

Could I be referred to any good online stores to browse boots? Also, feel free to throw a few names around to get this rant like search kicked off.

  13. APC's are sanforized..no need to soak..

You soak raw , unsanforized denim to get rid of the shrinkage....

Past that, febreeze them occasionally until a wash is needed.

I believe there are special powders and ways you can sometimes use your home washing machine on very gentle cycles. I took out all of my self applied starch on my 501 STF and seemed to soften the denim greatly machine washing a lil too hard.

Someone should be able to help you out more than I'm able to.
