  1. Culled my closet of like 70% of the old Supreme gear and made a grip of cash off it, also left me feeling like I lack a real central concept to my wardrobe.

Current deficincies include: no black dress shoes, no black trousers (destroyed 4x pair of Uniqlo chinos in past year), no real denim (like one pair of shitty HM jeans), no suit.

Current plan is to pick up a grip of oxfords (probably just a bunch of BB and premium stuff I find on sale), some new pants (thinking outlier and Levi's commuter: reinforced crotch concept), probably some DM 1461's and the DM longwings in grey, then shop around for a decent suit. Realized that outerwear is a dumb investment most of the time, better going with one quality piece than 17 different types of jackets that don't really fit any particular wardrobe void. Eyeballing an ervell jacket for this winter.

    basically what ODB said.

  2. Well that's neat. Ordered one of those japanese cotton baron wells shirts on 60% discount, they oversold due to sale, and are now sending me an oxford. Eton collar is kind of wonky, but fit pics look decent.

  3. I've been rotating between

    and

    dunhill_int_menthol.gif

Sherman's were good for a while, but they're kind of cloyingly sweet. It's not helped that the filter is dipped in some sort of sweetener. Burn forever though, can easily smoke half, then come back to it later.

Dunhill fine cuts are fantastic. Really robust tobacco flavor. Menthols are good for what they are, but I find most menthols kind of similar.

Any suggestions for something to try that's similar to the fine cut?

    *edit

haha, reading through this thread makes me want to try those marlboro black menthols, any place to order online?

  4. mashed out Portnoy's Complaint in a day. Possibly the funniest book I've ever read, was laughing out loud the entire time. The part where he busts in his eye getting a sloppy handjob nearly killed me.

    picked up

for a few bucks at Borders. Really quick, fun, pulpy novel.

    About to start

which a friend lent to me.

  5. pants are great. oxfords are nice because they don't look awkward untucked (questionable choice as it may be...) but yea, the collar roll is weak. Weird thing is I have a university stripe short sleeve oxford from 07 that had an awesome full collar roll, should have stuck with that.

  6. Going by what i've seen around

    Wet weather parka ($298)

    two tone parka ($220)

    oxfords

    Real tree camo pants

    real tree/velvet/canvas box caps

    uptown/futura hoodies

    dice/box/necklace/keychain

    Box logo crewneck

loose gauge beanie/virgin mary beanie/micro stripe beanie

    back arc and beretta snapbacks

    assuming club jacket too

\/\/\/seems more likely considering price on crashstreet

  7. re-reading Sartor Resartus

    candles-books-sartor-resart.png

is there any english translations of Peter Nadas' "Parallel Stories" available yet? Don't want to wait until October :(

The Tin Drum blew my mind, highest recommendations. Probably up there with Under the Volcano and Ulysses as my top books.

  8. okay my impressions:

the new lookbook does not help. i thought the lookbooks for the past 2 seasons w/dill were great: i liked the fitted look of the clothes on him and the pics gave me a good feel for the various items.

Yea, I'm not a fan of the look books where they just layer like fifty pieces onto the guy, stuff like a hoodie under a jersey under a jacket. Also lol at the random cigarette in the miner jacket look. Best in there is probably the all black one with the vest/t/beanie/work pants.

blue leather down is kinda sick but for a while now i've been expecting / hoping for some non-bulky non-motorcycle'y leather jacket a la some low-key bomber or something....still hasn't happened.

Still kicking myself over missing that bomber from like 3 years ago, the knit collar and cuff one with the slash chest pocket.

cords are sick. cords cords cords. also i'm a big fan of supreme jeans. treat yourself to some supreme jeans. are people still stacking? stacks are weak.

Where the fuck are the black jeans  If anyone's selling size 34 black supreme denim get at me.

In lieu of any outerwear that I see working on myself this season (being a short dude I can't fuck w/ a trench, fishtail, or that n3b) I might cop that moleskin vest. i've wanted one of those carhartt ones but this one has just the right changes that it may be worth the investment (fabric, smaller pockets, subtle quilting)

*oh and whats with calling the trench the sagamore, which was last years parka? It has the detailing of the timberline waxed jacket.

  9. Reference wise i'm seeing mid 90's mountain/collegiate gear (the reversable pullover, the arc logo pullover, neon trail caps) some english shout outs due to the London store (imperial hoodie, paisley, trench coat, peacoat, m51), then some interesting material treatments of classics (velvet and suede trooper caps, wool new eras) and modern workwear (carhartt style vest, n2b style jacket, chamois shirt, quilted down jacket)

Seeing that fly print on the sneakers I was assuming we would have seen some more punk influenced gear, but doesn't seem like it's going to go that way

oh and who the hell was asking for Realtree camo? I feel like a few seasons ago we would have seen a novel flip on the idea, not straight up "I'm going hunting with my uncle in the adirondacks" style stuff. I would have loved to see multicam, but I'm betting that costs more $$ to license.

  10. Puffy Pullover is one of those conceptually good, why the fuck would I want a pullover jacket that's covered in snow and soaking wet in concept pieces, easy pass.

Crucifix knife is on some castlevania shit.

Shirting is pretty lame across the board; lots of rehashes and boring spring summer looking tartans and plaids.

Interesting pallette, and the deployment of argyle and paisley is kind of inspired, but not in the ways I wanted. Argyle lined coaches jacket would have been great. Instead we're getting some shit that looks like Grn Apple Tree (remember that brand?)

Only things i'm really interested in are the New Yorker hoodie, the quilted work jacket, the two tone pullover, some chinos, and that fuck rug.

And am I missing something, or is there no military inspired jacket this year? That whack N2B style parka not withstanding.

  11. Yea, I've also noticed that the big ticket items now aren't the pieces you think that would sell but stuff like snapbacks and camps. I posted a Go To Hell snapback on SS and had 17 PM's for it in twenty minutes. Not quite sure how to read that; maybe younger folk getting into the brand who still can't fathom the idea of dropping 120 on a shirt? It seems like lately the people into Supreme are no longer the high fashion minded heads who appreciate it in the manner that a lot of us appreciate japanese streetwear, but young kids seeing tyler and the like wearing this stuff and really reaching out for iconic, cheaper pieces. Not a judgement, just an observation.

I feel like Supreme have taken it in stride, and a lot of folk are probably projecting anxieties about the brand onto their product line as of late. Spring Summer was a relatively good season all around though, minus the questionable zebra camo (was worth it for the pic of the guy on SS in the entire Zebra suit tho). I'm sure there is going to be some bangers this Fall Winter, and if the rumors of a Timberland collabo are true I hope it's a little more tactful than the neon leopard print staple collabo.

  12. Robe shirt is great. I actually got to handle an 18th century Franciscan monk's robe and it was natural indigo dyed, utterly beautiful stuff, seems like a source of inspiration for this one.
