Jobs
in superblurber
Been doing freelance writing for Gizmodo/Popular Mechanics and grant writing for two local non-profits. On top of that started work as a technical writer at the university. Cool job for people who write well; basically work as the departmental literary agent, editing and expanding papers, writing your own acknowledgements, getting in contact with journals to see if they're interested in running your research, dealing with PR, etc.
Hoping to get more stuff in print over the next year.

Real Talk: I sold that city print Northface last summer and funded an entire road trip from NM->Chicago->NJ->NY->RI. Guessing market will drop out on the new one real quick though.

Book seems to be catching an inordinate amount of flack for being too verbose. Kind of ridiculous in my opinion. Reminds me of White Noise post Airborne Toxic Event thus far.
Fun stuff. He opens with saying how uncomfortable he is with his non-fiction, and he really does seem to struggle with it. Seeing him put all this out there is pretty heartening though. I love his way of describing how batshit insane our world is.

haha, why does trying to click the last page of this thread bring a pop up of a bowl of beans and rice and a yellow nuptse (other than the obvious te amo reference)

Nice thread. Been jamming the new Rhinocervs compilation and it absolutely slays. Ordered the Bone Awl/Ashdautas split which finally (THREE FUCKING YEARS) came out. Also interested in new CW Productions latest CS, Grand Mood. Kestrel-Weather Eye is one of the most bizarre cassettes I've heard in a long time, really interesting, almost garagey at times (particularly the vocals)2

Picked this up on recommendation of a friend, and having previously read Trial by Fire.
Great collection of literary journalism. Reading Crimecity USA right now and it's jaw dropping.
Looking forward to The Prague Cemetary by Eco.

I would go with the bedford/cambridge pant combo. Hate the quirky collar detailing on that WWM jacket and it wouild throw off an otherwise trad outfit.

Finished Clockers yesterday. Hell of a book. Loved that part where they're in the abandoned children's hospital, reminds me of this scary place in Newark I'd always pass on the way to school.
Starting today
There is a great piece in NY Magazine about how this book is heavily inspired by the intertwined lives of David Foster Wallace, Franzen, and Eugenides himself.

yea I was going to say, those Timb's are trash. Field boots without pink fur or a variant on the wheat boot would have been tight.

Korine decks and new 94's in the pipeline. That Korine essay is kind of 12th grade film class quality though, jeez.

New Chasing Voices 12" is good, not sure if it's as good as Acidbathory but up there.

The hell is with J.Crew doing a watered down LL Bean style diffusion line? Their website is already a mess, now they have another brand under themselves?

here's a small question

Rewaxing a jacket, this stuff should be fine right? Not sure if it's some proprietary filson goo that will turn my jacket neon red or something

Hm, new Clarks boots. Not really feeling any of them but the brown

Burned through The Friends of Eddie Coyle in two days. Real fun read; you can tell this guy had an absolute pitch perfect knack for dialogue and zero skill at prose. Ridiculously sparse descriptions of everything, but for a book that's 80% dialogue it works as a way to set the scene.
On to Lush Life right now. So far it's excellent.
