  1. Yea, that's an actual budweiser promo piece. Supreme one was like the campbells cans; all in order.

Selling a size L multistripe university SS buttondown if anyones interested. 95$, only worn a few times. Will send ya pics if you're into it.

  2. Been doing freelance writing for Gizmodo/Popular Mechanics and grant writing for two local non-profits. On top of that started work as a technical writer at the university. Cool job for people who write well; basically work as the departmental literary agent, editing and expanding papers, writing your own acknowledgements, getting in contact with journals to see if they're interested in running your research, dealing with PR, etc.

Hoping to get more stuff in print over the next year.

Book seems to be catching an inordinate amount of flack for being too verbose. Kind of ridiculous in my opinion. Reminds me of White Noise post Airborne Toxic Event thus far.

Fun stuff. He opens with saying how uncomfortable he is with his non-fiction, and he really does seem to struggle with it. Seeing him put all this out there is pretty heartening though. I love his way of describing how batshit insane our world is.

  4. Nice thread. Been jamming the new Rhinocervs compilation and it absolutely slays. Ordered the Bone Awl/Ashdautas split which finally (THREE FUCKING YEARS) came out. Also interested in new CW Productions latest CS, Grand Mood. Kestrel-Weather Eye is one of the most bizarre cassettes I've heard in a long time, really interesting, almost garagey at times (particularly the vocals)
  5. Finished Clockers yesterday. Hell of a book. Loved that part where they're in the abandoned children's hospital, reminds me of this scary place in Newark I'd always pass on the way to school.

    Starting today

There is a great piece in NY Magazine about how this book is heavily inspired by the intertwined lives of David Foster Wallace, Franzen, and Eugenides himself.

thoughts on this thing? I still don't know about ebooks, but I like the idea of them for magazines.

  8. Burned through The Friends of Eddie Coyle in two days. Real fun read; you can tell this guy had an absolute pitch perfect knack for dialogue and zero skill at prose. Ridiculously sparse descriptions of everything, but for a book that's 80% dialogue it works as a way to set the scene.

On to Lush Life right now. So far it's excellent.
