  1. Thanks guys.

The hook cost ~$40 in supplies. I made it in a craftshop under the guidance of a silversmith. It's simple to make but requires patience and the right tools: acetylene torch, silver saw, file, hammer, more files, etc. Basically you cut the silver wire to the length you want and bend it to the proper shape. Then to create the taper you hammer the wire and flatten it. After it's been flattened you saw the edges of the tapered bit away and file the hell out of it to turn the square tapered bit into a round tapered bit. The last step was wrapping the small silver wire and soldering.

  2. Not quite leather but I don't know where else to post this...

I suppose it's leather related because it's replacing my KC's key fob.

The hook is 100% sterling silver and crafted by me. It's inspired by the wallet rein hooks I've seen floating around here.

  3. Okay, this is kind of a long shot. Lastnight (around 2am) I was browsing SuFu and came across these ankle high, leather round toe boots. They were $300 on the linked site. They weren't Aldens or Redwings I know for sure.

Anyone have any ideas what I'm talking about, ive searched the pages with no success.

  4. Before (when I dropped the pants off the hole had completely split):

    Now the really impressive one:

Before (arrows indicate completely threadbare fabric... my wallet was on the verge of exploding through the pocket)

    After, fully mended and reinforced"

They completely removed the back pocket to the repairs.

Everything was done by my local tairlor.

    Cheers.

  5. I need some repair advice.

I've worn my Nudies for everyday for almost exactly 1 year now and the denim is getting threadbare in a few places. If I continue wearing the jeans I'm positive the fabric would bust through within 1 months time.

    Here's the weak areas:

Crotch that has ripped completely through and is being held by a patch on the interior

I like the wear but I don't want the fabric to bust through. I've taken the jeans to the local tailor for a few crotch repairs but I think what the pants need now is out of her league. Does anyone have any advice who I should go to or what can be done to maintain the structual integrity of the fabric while still maintaing the worn look?

    Thanks,

    Jacob

  6. Presenting my raw Nudie Straight Svens. Worn everyday for 11 months. One cold water wash done at 10.5 months.

I'm very happy with how the jeans have turned out. I'm wondering though, do you guys think I should have done a hot wash instead of cold? The fades I got were good but not as dramatic as I expected. I also don't get why the jeans still look so damn dirty (especially on the front) after having been washed. Maybe at 12 months I'll do a hot wash and semi-retire them? Gotta get to work on the AW Cougars :)

  7. Now THAT is a good looking buckle/belt combo.

Can you tell me more about the buckle. Never seen one like that before. It looks vintage to me. Still available?

    Thank you.

It's a Ludlow quick-release. Got it from these guys: http://www.dubarrycanada.ca (there's a US site as well). I no longer see it listed on their website but I'm sure if you call them they could help you out.

    Here are some evo pictures:

No oil or anything, just wear.

  8. I've got a deal on airfare where I fly dirt cheap. I want to start taking advantage of it and escape to New England winter for somewhere warm. I'm looking at Jamaica for next weekend.

What is the best way to find cheap resorts and packages for quick weekend jaunts? Are there any good websites anyone can recommend? All my flights are stand-by so I can leave at a moment's notice. Schedules are very flexible.
