  1. Today I received my pair of 6x6 raws. I can't believe how stiff they are!

Please, no flames on the pictures...and apologies about the tight crotch...

I'm simply wondering if these look like they need to be returned and sized up. They are most definitely tight as fuck right now. It took me a while to get the buttons done up and they are riding up high right now in order to button all the way up. I want them to fit very slim, but I wouldn't wear them as is - they would need to stretch in the right places - notably the crotch, hips, and ass - but the legs fit me absolutely perfect I think. I've got a weird body with ultra skinny legs and waste but a relatively big ass. My ballsack is suffocating right now and just sitting is a chore. Do they look like they are beyond help from stretching, or do you think I should keep them?

On a side note, the construction of these is incredible. The denim looks fabulous.

  2. I posted pictures in this thread about 2 months ago. I just washed again and here are some more pics. Sorry again for the shitty webcam pics.

I'm surprised with how well these have turned out but I'm about to move on to a pair of Skulls I think.

After 2nd wash, air dried, not worn after wash yet (no creases):

  3. Hey...one of my girlfriends is trying to find something to wear that will keep her feet warm for a brutal Canadian winter but also looks good and hopefully can be worn with slim/skinny jeans. Neither her nor I can think of anything that fits the bill.

Any recommendations? Or are girls just doomed to cold feet for the winter if they want to look good?

  4. well i got my 5010xx 6x6 from selfedge today and i ordered a sz 29 cuz it said it measures a 30.5 waist... and all my other jeans are 30s and my dry denim is 29... so i figure a 29 would be fine and that is what i was told... wellll they are WAY too small. as in i cant even button them up and let them stretch out. :( im sad cuz i was really looking forward to them.

Did you measure your waist as per the instructions from FabFour? Or did you just order a 29 (30.5 waist) because that's what your other jeans are? What kinds of other dry denim do you take a size 29 in?

I am just about to order a pair in size 28 expecting a 29.3" waist. I measured as per the instructions from FabFour which is basically just around the top of the hip bone and I measure about 29". When I read posts like yours though I get a bit worried...

I've purchased 3 pairs of dry denim online so far and not one of them has fit correctly! I'm not having good luck!

  5. i apologize in advance if this has been brought up before, but i'm wondering if vans has ever made prison issues in the states as opposed to china. i get my chucks from a hole in the wall vendor and they're all "made in usa," and the difference in quality is visibly clear.

    thank you<3

and i just realized this is in the denim sub-forum so sorry if this thread is only for denim inquiries. =x

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but AFAIK, no chucks are made in USA since 2001. Chucks are now owned by Nike and are all made overseas. It sounds to me like this "hole in the wall vendor" may be selling knock-offs that still include the "made in USA" branding.

If you have reason to believe otherwise, fill me in because I'd like some made-in-USA chucks if they exist, but I don't think they do.

  6. I'm looking for a denim with the following:

    - skinny/slim fit for a 28.5ish hip measurement

    - good quality heavier weight denim

    - raw indigo that fades well

    - prefer blank back pockets but can live with minimal detailing

    - hopefully less than $200

    - Available for online purchase

I've considered APC New Cure but the denim quality could be better

I've considered different Nudies but again the denim quality could be better and I would prefer something more unique anyway...

The closest I've come to success was a pair of Ande Whall Grifters but they were too big/not slim enough.

Currently I'm wearing a pair of Levi's 511 'rigid' that have been more interesting than expected the $40 I paid for them. The fit is pretty good but they could be slimmer in the thigh area.

What are your suggestions? Thanks in advance :)

  7. I don't know what's up with the sizing...the first pair I received was tagged 28 and actually measures 33".

The new pair I got to replace the "incorrectly sized" pair is again tagged 28 but still measures 32"! I just measured them. They seemed to still be too big...as I mentioned in my previous post with pictures...my question in fact was "too big"?

I wear a size 28 in a Nudie Slim Jim for a good tight fit in the waist on a new unstretched pair.

  8. hey guys, i'm the founder of this cool brand. the cotton is indian grown - the denim was designed by Hiroshi Kato, its hand cut and hand sewn in india (fair trade) and finished in the u.s. of a. we have a selvage model thats dyed with natural indigo dyed by hank system and coated using potato starch, but currently there are only a few boutiques that picked up on it. it retails for 120 dollars or something around there. i apologize for it fitting one size bigger than tagged, my bad, i think i fell asleep during that part of production, but i guess it should make u guys feel skinnier.

What is this selvage model called? And what boutiques carry it? Neither model carried at contextclothing ("slim" and "straight") are selvage and they cost $90 - is there a 3rd model that is carried elsewhere that retails for ~$120 and is selvage?

  9. I'll resurect this thread :)

I bought a pair of 511s about 4 months ago. I wanted to see how they would fade and they were cheap ($59 CDN I think). On average I probably wore them every other day since it was too hot to wear them for many summer days.

The jeans were not labeled as dry/raw/rigid or anything but I think that's what they are supposed to be.

I just washed them in cold water, delicate cycle, with Woolite black, and then air dried on a clothes line.

Here are the results (not bad IMO). Sorry, the pictures are not very good quality because they were taken with a 2MP webcam (all I have at the moment). The actual colour is a significantly darker indigo than the pictures indicate.

  10. Hey did you grab them from Context? I just got the email from them annoucing their arrival. Post pictures as soon as possible I am quite interested in these.

Yeah I got them from Context Clothing. Apparently they fit a lot like APC New Standards but the measurements indicate they are closer to the New Cure in terms of rise, knee, and leg opening.

Unfortunately I just moved halfway across the country and the only thing I did not pack up was my camera! To boot, my mobile phone/camera was stolen during my voyage! So I'm unable to take pictures when I get them. I'm assuming they will arrive next week and post my impressions when I get them.

  11. I just purchased (online) a pair of the newly available Good Society dry denim in the slim cut. They are very cheap at $90. The socially responsible theme is definitely cool too (organic cotton, fair trade labour).

The slimmest waist they make is a 28 which actually measures a 29 so these might end up being too big for me but I thought I'd give it a go anyway.

There are no threads on SuFu yet on these jeans. Has anyone tried these on? Any comments on how they fit? They are too new to know how they wear yet, so only time will tell.

  12. We do a 20% mail order discount for superfuture members, though.

I wasn't told this when I emailed inquiring about matching context/denimbar...

For Canadians, even with 20% off you are more expensive than ordering directly from APC!

    $38 shipping to Canada? WTF?
