  1. dude srsly

    get yer custom order on

the wait is killing me but you could get that pair for like $250

ha, i'm about to my man... i guess i haven't done a japan order in a while--i was thinking they'd be about the same price as customs, but i'd have them in five days. i guess at this rate i could get my order in and not be tempted to wear them in this hellish boot eating salty dirt slush that we've got going on up in the northeastern US.

  2. i was really close to getting those explorer navigator multi russells (i think somebody posted a pic of them a while back on here as a matter of fact), until I realized that 50,000 yen is now a lot more than it used to be... shits would have cost me 600 balls by the time it was all said and done. it's hard to justify my thug like that in an economic crisis. i'm still not over them, but whatever...

  3. I have a couple of Two Moons--a crewneck and a hoody--that I've worn quite a bit. I also have a Buzz Rickson. The styling is pretty different--the Two Moons are much more 'modern' (not as billowy). They've held up very well to washing and wear, although I don't think the Two Moons are loopwheeled (not 100% certain on this), if that matters to you. For reference, I wear a medium in most shirts, and have a 40 chest, and I wear a 42/44 in Two Moon stuff for a fitted (but not too young) look. I like Two Moon sweats a lot--they seem to be going the repro-inspired route rather than try to make perfectly 'authentic' items, and I appreciate this.

  4. got my okinawas from the sale today. great service from them.

gotta say, the quility is incredible. super slubby, heavy duty feeling denim. wanted a pair of okis for a while now.

not surer if i can keep em though as i tend to be a bit erm, stout to fit into a 36 (may have to stretch em a bit and try em out)

Got mine in the mail today too. So great. They are workable, but a little too small for the look I'm going for.

So I'm gonna spread love. If anybody wants a pair of NWT Okis in a size 34, let me know--I'll sell for what I paid.

  5. I've had my eye on Gokey boots for a while particularly this model the 5" or Sauvage hiker named after the boots worn by french-canadian explorers of the great lakes, and seem to be the real deal hunting/hiking boot and are highly regarded in those fields

the Gokey name is now I think owned owned by Orvis and this pic from their site makes them look like a wierd elongated dress shoe but the Vintage/Worn pairs I've seen make them look quite attractive.

They are also custom fitted and hand sewn

I was curious if anyone had any experience or opinions and if there were any real difference in quality or construction pre/post Orvis.

Eccles, I have a pair of the Sauvage hikers that I've worn for about a year--maybe more. I'll try and post pics (and additional thoughts) soon--as in the next 3 or so days.

  6. Well, those prices above are actually already lower than retail already by about 10% or more.. I didn't know they were selling them for even less.

They no longer have a Sugar Cane account anyway, which is maybe partially the reason they're getting rid of their stock.

Edit: And yes, if you take 50% off those prices they ARE selling them far below wholesale..

Yes, this is what has prompted the (justified) spazzing out about this sale. A bunch of us have gotten Okis (and other jeans) for $120-130 shipped--obviously the 47s and 55s have been less than $100. Nuts.

By the way for those interested--I got a UPS tracking # on Friday and my Okis have left CA and are bound for the east coast.

  7. Cool cool. After posting it got me thinking about guys like HeBay who have gotten Limmers. There is some debate over boot care options among people I know that are into Limmers. First of all, as I mentioned before, Limmers use a (supposedly) unique chrome tanning process, and for this reason they have their own product called "Limmer Boot Grease." HeBay you should get some of this stuff--it's righteous. The Limmers themselves have argued against the use of wax-based products (especially 'heavy' waxes like Snoseal), maintaining that wax clogs the pores of the leather and thereby reduces the lifespan of boots. I've used Limmer Boot Grease to great effect on my boots, but I've also used Nikwax pretty consistently over the years on my Vasques--and they're still great after a decade. I don't know--and I've never tried--what the impact of the boot grease on oil-tanned or other non-Limmer leather, but I can't imagine it would be harmful. I just thought I'd let folks know that the 'standard procedures' don't necessarily apply to Limmers.

  8. Can anyone recommend some product to protect and waterproof the leather, or for general care?

poop, those are looking good. as far as the care goes, if you are looking for actual waterproofing i would probably use snoseal or nikwax. in an ideal world you would clean/condition first, let completely dry, then apply a wax-based product like the ones above, letting cure a full 10-12 hours. with any luck those will be good for mad much years.
